Splatoon 2 Testfire Thread: This is a port...able game now

So jelly of the people still playing and with no disconnect issues.

Oh well, I shouldn't complain too much since it IS a stress test on the servers.

Is the disconnects depending on the region of the servers? I'm in southern California.

Boooo got booted out mid-game!

Really enjoyed it though. I only really dabbled with the original on Wii U, but can see myself sinking an insane amount of time into this one now I can take it on the go.

So this was first experience with Splatoon.

The Roller really worries me. It might be cause I'm an unskilled noob but the Roller feels broken? It was the only weapon that I felt effective when using, and I could never beat anyone that had it when I was using other weapons. Is this just a learning curve thing or is the roller a blatant OP weapon for unskilled players?

Also any word on whether they're gonna include a single player campaign? I heard the first one had amazing bosses, and frankly a single player mode feels like the best way to acclimate with and learn the game before hopping online.

Aside from all that, it was great and can't wait to play the final game.

Rollers seem OP to almost everyone when they start playing. You'll get used to them.

Yes, there's a single player campaign.

Still 720p on docked mode? Didn't get a chance to try it as I am out of town and left my switch at home.

At a guess I'd say so, distant geometry was pretty jaggy...really hoping they can get it up to 900p at least for release, but who knows.

Game is a blast otherwise, even with having to undo a bit of muscle memory from the Wii U original. Wish I could play it the entire evening!

Call me stupid, but how do you use grenades? I played a few rounds in quick bursts while at work and didn't take the time to figure it out. Just made due without them.

HD rumble when hitting and enemy feels very inmersive and "part of the game", it's weird, i like it.

Hope they manage to keep resolution at full 720p all the time on handheld on release.

I think it's a learning curve kinda thing. I learned approaching from the front is suicidal and its better to either circle around and quickly finish them with splat bomb + your gun or to team up on one.

Kicked off at 1:11!

Man this feels so good. Took 50 minutes to be back in the groove. Not playing with a giant, bloated brick of a controller is a jarring experience haha

YALL SPLATOON IN BED. R.I.P.

give motion controls a try people. No one perfects them immediately but they're op

Exactly like the demo I played in January. Eh.

Still really loathe the motion controls even after getting used to them in Splatoon 1. Also I got so used to Zelda's awful controls that I kept pressing X to jump and opening up the menu constantly oops

I won a majority of games and thought it was alright. Had a fair amount of fun. Still unfortunate that it's so so similar to the original. Oh well! Still buying it.

I'm in LA and didn't have any issues, so maybe not.

I played with slow hotel wi-fi but aside from one disconnect all of my matches were surprisingly smooth. I did have a few disconnects on the player search screen, though.

Lol finally got kicked out after playing past the deadline. Man, that was awesome. Day one for sure. Time for Splatoon skins and stuff, Nintendo!

It's because you are new, rollers are not broken at all. It's all about maintaining distance.

That was good. It's been a while since I played Splatoon, but it still feels like the first game, though I need to retrain my muscle memory to jump with B instead of X and not looking for the map on my controller.

I think the graphics were improved but not to the level I was expecting, but it still looks really good. It played a smooth 60 fps the whole time while docked. Tonight I'll try it in handheld mode and see how it plays.

The new music is on point.

I kept pressing x too lmao.

My connection got all fussy whenever I separated the Joycons from the Switch. Couldn't find a match at all like that, but standard handheld mode was smooth like butter, one match after the other. Guessing the wireless connection with the joycons is messing with the Switch? I dunno, maybe I got one of the shitty batches.

Sucks because Split Joycons is the best way to play any game. Still had a blast with it though. Game's gonna be straight fire when it comes out.

Aaaand its over. Well that was fun. Cant wait to get this game but oh boy my final impression coming out of this is "yup thats splatoon". Nothing seems that new compared to the original. At least thats what I felt from this testfire. Hopefully the full game has a lot more going for it that they havent shown off

The Roller is OP against noobs, which is largely what this beta will consist of. If you were to hop into Splatoon 1 now, and use the roller, you'd likely get your ass handed to you, unless you really knew what you were doing with it.

No more! Ah well.

Impressions are good. Will be buying it and be a regular probably taking the mantle of Overwatch I think.

Love the roller weapon as most of my dodgy team mates just go for kills instead of the turf. Soundtrack is super cool too. My nephews love this game so will want to pick it up for them too. :)

I can absolutely assure you that rollers are not OP at all. In fact some people might even consider them underpowered once you get used to them. But in this game, anyone can annihilate with any weapon, it's just a matter of attacks and counterattacks

Am I the only one who kept pressing X to jump and then starred at the map for 2 seconds not knowing what the fuck was happening?

thanks zelda

Loved it! Switched to analog and adjusted the sliders and it felt great!

I really hope they include all the maps and modes from the original, would be the ultimate Splatoon game then

It finally kicked me out. 13 minutes extra, I'll take it.

I had zero connection issues. I'm surprised myself. Good stuff.
