Snake Pass |OT| Snake Had A Hard Life

Ugh... I'm really torn on this one. I know I want the game no matter what, but I'm torn on the platform. Really wanna get it on Switch and support the platform, but I also want it on Xbox to get those sweet cheevos. If it's good enough, I'm sure I'll get it on both eventually but for right now I'm just really torn.

Anyone facing the same dilemma?

From playing on Switch, I can tell you, the way the game is, with the sleep mode, that is my preferred way of playing based on level design. I also don't have time to sit in front of a TV for 2 hours at a pop anymore.

Buying a game because of achievements? Not in a dozen years. The dilemma is switch or PS4 Pro, but I'm probably leaning towards switch.

So far, it seems like people are just making things up and others are rolling with it. We've had a bunch of random tidbits about the switch version, but no actual confirmation of anything from someone that owns it. It's been super confusing tbh.
Yeah that's true for anything Switch in general. I'm still confused about that pro controller thread.

I was among some of the people saying it looks blurry.

Here is an example from GameXplain. They uploaded two videos of switch gameplay and they both look noticeably blurry. Even more noticeable when the text box appears at 0:22. It's like watching a 480p video with 1080p HUD. They state in the comments that it was direct feed capture.

I'd love for someone to tell me it's just something weird with YouTube compression but regardless i'm probably going to buy it tonight for my switch.
I was mainly referring to people claiming they played the game at some event. YT videos are rarely a good example because they're always compressed and usually the bitrate is pretty bad.

I have it. It's not native 1080p. Handheld also looks sub 720p. Honestly.

Bummer. I fired up the eShop this morning before I left for work in hopes it was up to buy/download (in the US) to no avail. When it does go live - noonish? - I hope I can queue it up from my phone and the web store.

9 PST, which is in two hours. It's a pretty normal release date embargo.

I'm not sure about other outlets, but I only received code on Monday night, so if it's the same for most others, I'd expect reviews to start going up on Thursday/Friday-ish.

It was supposed to go up a while ago but they said on Twitter they're having technical issues releasing it. Will be up today is all we know.

Don't buy games based on some rows in a database.

Folks will rush a review out just to be first, and rushing through this game and not focusing on exploration or collecting everything would be an injustice to the game.

I'll gladly purchase the Switch version and do a graphic comparison to the PS4 game, if that's something of interest for folks.

lol the game does progressively get more challenging as the level design really expands and introduces new obstacle types. I felt confident in my climbing and slithering abilities after finishing the first world, but soon found myself struggling to collect everything in the second world. I need to get better at the tightening technique.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that some early reviews are only based upon the first world and may be a few from the second.

I'm sure DF will be doing that as this is the first major UE4 game on Switch and its first major day-and-date multiplatform indie release, but it never hurts to get more opinions on the matter!

I had the exact same experience. The leap from the first realm to the second one is significant.

That's more or less the dilemma that I'm facing here. I can currently play games way more often on Switch, but I'd lose some of the competitive aspects. Boosting my gamerscore is just strangely satisfying, but so are the other "competitive" leaderboard stats that show up on Xbox for a given game.

I'm heavily leaning towards the Switch version to start, just to support the platform.

I'll do as I please! As I stated above, I should have also included that I enjoy the other metrics that Xbox automatically tracks against your friends. Things like time played, collectibles found, etc... make playing a single player game more social for me.

Gah, the fake-out... For a moment I saw the "Buy Digital" button on the game's detail page (on Nintendo.com), I refreshed to confirm before saying "It's up!" and the button vanished.

This game actually looks fucking sick. I first noticed it on the PSN advertising sections. Totally getting this game, I love snakes. Anything long, I like trucks too with lots of trailers lawl.

Don't even care if it reviews shitty, you play as a snake. Fuck the reviews. Lol.

Good to hear. I quit last night after completing the first realm, collecting everything on my first run. I was finally starting to feel like I was starting to get a grasp on it.

It all really started to come together when I began to use the
.......grip.......
button a lot more
to tightly coil myself around things.

The Switch version on display here really looks washed out, in comparison to the version (Xbox or PC) shown in the IGN video.
The colors are lot less vivid, weird.

The nintendolife video looks more vivid than this, check it out. Might be the way this was captured

It looks quite different from the Nintendolife video I posted earlier. Weird.

Yeah I agree. There was another video I saw a while ago that addressed many people's switch videos being washed out looking if they didn't set their capture and switch display settings appropriately. May be related to that? One can hope at least....
