Is Minecraft fun solo? I have never played...

Like I said in the previous page, I had a lot of fun solo, the game has 2 bosses, so beating those two were my goals but plenty of people love just building stuff.

EZA's preview footage was good, seems like a great port.

Not going to get it personally, I already own it on a few other things and don;t really want another copy, but it seems like this would be the best mobile version of the game to get without a doubt.

Last time I played was years ago on PC, before even villages were added and underground ruins were new, but I had fun just playing on my own. I found it relaxing but at the same time weirdly creepy when digging down really deep and finding stuff like caverns.

I'll finally jump into the Minecraft wave with the Switch edition. Never played it before. But I'm hoping it clicks with me. Gonna go digital!

I played the game solo and had a lot of fun. The game has more too it than just building stuff.
The game has two bosses, beating both of them can take 20+ hours easily.

I appreciate the reply! I'm pretty excited to try this out. Gonna play the PC demo to pass some time :)

I try and try with Minecraft but I just don't get it. I really would love to buy this but I'll play for like 3 hours and make some sticks and a small hut and I'll be done, I never understand most of it. Good on it though for the great scores. What's this now like 80% of switch releases with over 80% scores...Pretty damn good.

Guys, just get the game. I first played Minecraft on Wii U and while I normally love creating stuff, in Minecraft I mostly enjoy the survival aspect with awesome music and atmosphere!

How many of these 2017 Microsoft games will be outsold by Minecraft on Switch.

My guess is most if not all.

Crackdown 3
Halo Wars 2
Sea of Thieves
State of Decay 2
Vodoo Vince: Remastered
Gigantic
Phantom Dust
Fable Fortune
Forza 7

Who would have figured it wouldn't be Nintendo, but Microsoft that became the third party dev

this is a joke

Another 90 Switch game, that makes 4 in 2 months (BotW, MK8, Shovel Knight and this, though the score may change as more reviews are released). I can see Mario Odissey getting 90+MC and maybe ARMS if the EDGE preview is anything to go by. Splatoon 2 if it launches with enough content unlike 1 and maybe Xenoblade 2 are other potential +90s and this is before E3 where we might get some surprise. That is 8 90+ games in 9 months...the same number the WiiU got in it´s whole lifespan (though things like Shovel Knight, Splatoon1, Bayonetta, Tropical Freeze and Super Mario Maker certainly deserved 90+ scores IMO). Switch seems to be building an amazing library really fast.

Wow such great scores
And I still have to play Minecraft for the first time (probably the last person in the world)
Me too. Fun thing is I got it for PC when it was still in beta and was free, yet never launched the game :S

Fun fact: Microsoft have now published as many 90+ Metacritic games for Switch as they have for Xbox One.

More seriously, though, it's good to see that they've done a good job with the Switch version. I'd be tempted to double dip for the portability (I own it on PC), but that €30 price is pretty discouraging.

People seriously underestimating how well Minecraft sells devices. It IS the virtual Lego for children of today and tomorrow, and with how well the Switch sells itself by just being out in the public this is going to be nuts. Hell when I pull my Switch out on the bus to and from work I can feel people just staring at me watching in fascination as I play Zelda, now imagine that with Minecraft.

This will make Switch sell even more. If Nintendo can keep up with demand but it'll sell it off the shelves as soon as they arrive on those shelves.

I am fucking bewildered that so many people here have never played Minecraft even once.

Anyway I myself have not played it in 3 years or so. Is it still the best game of it's type?

I am not a "builder guy" either but lost many hours to Minecraft. I honestly can't see you regretting your purchase.

You must be unfamiliar with what the Vita version did in Japan.

Truth .. Minecraft sells well on almost any platform, even on the Vita which kinda revived the interest in the handheld. I actually saw some people on the trains playing Minecraft Vita during my last trip to Tokyo.

Hell .. Minecraft will sell well if it was released on a Nokia 3310.

Bought it then ... don't know what can I expect
Base building game with survival aspects and more or less fully destructible world. Add a couple of bosses to beat, in-game achievements to promote progression, resource gathering, and you have it.

God how mani GAFfers haven't played it yet as me ?! XD

I watched someone play, but never played it myself.

I'm not sure if it's my kind of game as I'm not the most creative guy you know, but I may take it as it's some kind of 'infinite' game that I could pick up every now and then.

Will wait for the physical version though, I'm a patient man.

Count me in the "never played it, but should I get it on Switch" camp!

Have no interest in Creative Mode, but Survival sounds like fun. Is Survival Mode fun enough to buy this for? Or is it easy and not much content there to justify the purchase? Only 2 bosses?

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Great scores.

Of these sorta long tail games like Minecraft & Terraria and the like I'm probably most hyped for Stardew Valley.

Gonna wait and see on this. Not sure if the kids will want another version of Minecraft or not.

Each of the bosses is in their own map and getting to those maps will take you many hours. And there's also the minigames.

I've never played Minecraft either, but I did like Dragon Quest Builders. I also played Terraria on the Vita but HATED IT. Don't Starve was okay.

If a physical version ever releases for Switch, I may pick that up. That way I can at least get something back if I don't like it.

Does this version have touch screen mechanics for inventory? And how good is HD rumble? Is it a battery drainer like Zelda? Are there Mario "missions" to go along with the skins? Hows multiplayer?

I may double dip eventually.

I may double dip eventually.

1) It has the same touch screen features as the Vita version. They exist, but most people wish they were more extensive.

2) I haven't heard about HD rumble and I assume it doesn't have it.

3) The battery life is supposedly actually really good. One journo reported that 30 minutes of play drained only 8% of battery.

4) The survival mode has a Mario version if that's what you're asking.

5) Gud.
