Halo 6 won't be at E3 but 343 has a "little" something to show

343 Industries.

So what, they have to change their name if they ever want to branch out? I don't really care if the source of their name is related to a specific franchise, it would still be cool to see what ideas a talented studio would be able to come up with for new IPs.

This is fine by me. We know that H6 is coming next year anyway.

He was talking about releases for this year. They still could have announced Halo 6 as a 2018 game.

The fact that they're not announcing it at E3 this year is new news.

Agreed. The name of the studio doesn't matter at all. The only big obstacle here is what the leadership at MS and/or 343 wants to do. I don't think we'll see a non-Halo game from them for a long time, though.

I know, but it's to let anyone else know that doesn't know. Some ppl might think halo wars 2 counts but he specifically said "fps". I myself was fully expecting at least a cgi reveal or teaser but guess not. They must be super confident in what they have this year to not rely on gears or halo.

I don't think they're doing it because of the lineup. I think it's more about the fact that Gears 4 launched last year and Halo 5 in 2015 and that they don't want to oversaturate the franchises.

As much as I dislike the direction of the Halo franchise, it's the only thing I actually care about this year at E3. Here's to hoping what they show is worth it.

Realistically, we'll probably just get a tournament announcement or some new blitz cards for halo wars 2, neither of which I would care about.

Still holding out for MCC on PC. That would be so fucking amazing!

I honestly think this is it. Considering I'm getting a gaming laptop and I'm kind of done with Xbox the console brand, this would be great for me! Everything else Xbox is moving to PC, so why not their biggest franchise?

More like they couldn't get a game ready in time, if they could have Halo ready every year like CoD (I know 3 studios but still), they definitely would

They've actually had a Halo game every year for a while. If you count RTS, remasters, mobile, and mainline.

Yes!?

343 Industries was founded to work on one IP and anyone who works for them has accepted that. If they want to work on new IPs then they are working for the wrong company.

That is true, if you don't count Halo 5: Forge on PC then 2016 was the first year since 2008 where a Halo game was not released.

If they Fixed MCC, along with a Scorpio update, and Reach added in.

Boom. 343i redeemed.

Acrually love 343i despite not enjoying 5 and MCC problems

It would be, but why do you think Bungie wanted to leave?

A new IP would be really cool to see one day from these guys. Eventually the Halo gravy train just won't be completely viable, and they are talented team I would love to see what they come up with themselves. Though that is not happening anytime soon from how many people it takes to make a Halo game.

"We are proud to announce that MLG will run all future HCS tournies & be solely responsible (along with feedback from the players) for all settings changes in the HCS henceforth."

...oh & Jackie, one more thing.

"We willl revert back to the medals from Halo 3 for all future Halo games"

If MCC was like it was on Xbox at launch , just imagine on PC.
I could imagine that they perhaps chose to totally avoid the PR clusterfuck that would have occurred should they release it for PC.

Why don't marvel studios make some Batman movies?

The reason that 343 are such a talented studio is because Microsoft reached deep into its pockets to ensure that they had the best talent they could get to ensure that one of videogames's biggest franchises remains of a high standard.
And to be quite blunt, there is no evidence to suggest that they would be the best studio to handle something outside of a FPS.
Just like there is no evidence to suggest that Naughty Dog would be Good at making a serious racing game.

It's hard to know what is the right thing to do because you've got the opinion that 343i are garbage!!111 and can't even make Halo games. Simultaneously you've got people saying 343i are super talented and Microsoft have wasted the studio.
Then you've got people who like what 343i have done so far.
It's hard to know which kinds of comments to even take seriously due to many individual's predilection to Neg everything Microsoft say or do, which appears to preface many opinions.

No it's not because they've already said they're not announcing games that are way off anymore.

Expecting MCC 4k and Maybe some Halo 5 GOTY edition of something for Scorpio. Talking Halo 6 just overshadows the other games that are coming this year.

Halo 6 should really have been the posterboy of the Scorpio reveal... Microsoft what are you doing?

So you think using a new release/unreleased game is the best way to communicate that the machine is an extension of Xbox one, rather than a new generation? They run the risk of suggesting the the wider purchasing population that the game isn't coming out for regular Xbox One.
You totally know that it would be spun into "Microsoft aren't supporting Xbox One anymore" by the usual suspects.
Besides, people are complaining that Halo comes out too frequently AND there was a 3 year gap between 4 and 5, so why would it be coming out now?

I think that would be the right thing to do, go back and update some previous flagship games to show that this is how they expect software to work moving forwards.
Halo 5 in particular would look fantastic in 4K or supersampled.

Agreed. Making the animation 60 at all ranges, plus 4k would make Halo 5 look damn stunning. Plus the content is already there for it.

Wouldn't make it stunning. But would help.

The game was the biggest graphical disappointment of the generation for me. Well. Tied with Andromeda.

The game is at times indistinguishable from Halo 4 on XBO.

But yeah, a Scorpio patch with 4K, fixed animations, and some beefed up shaders and lighting would do wonders.

Compared to other 60 fps shooters its still probably the best looking one next to BF1 (the low res of Battlefront on Xbox One kinda ruins it)

Halo 5 was already missing enough content on launch and it had 3 years of dev time. There was absolutely no chance that they would put H6 on a 2 year dev time, just because of the Scorpio. They should take their time and maybe we will get a feature complete game for once.

I would be so happy if they completely fixed, improved and updated Halo MCC, redo Halo CEA, maybe even add Reach and give Halo 3 a touch up. That would get a lot of good will and trust back. These aren't just disk games you can't patch, the technology is there to update but do Microsoft care about their biggest IP legacy. Hopefully.
