I'll report what I said in the other thread.

So the thing I find most suspicious is that the characters blend into the background art in those screens.

If you look at how Smash Bros games are made, the backgrounds are somewhat more faded to help the characters stand out and be instantly readable.

They also seem to be very texture heavy without much normal mapping (I could be seeing this wrong, admittedly, it's pretty zoomed out), which strikes me as odd for a current-gen game (or a recent game at all).

That said, anything with this much effort should usually at least be humored.

Yeah, I'm on #teamfake with this one. I do think there is a Smash 4 Switch port in the works but this is not what will be shown.

Yoo... who is your avatar???

That's what puzzles me the most. WiiU version is blown open to the point where people have already created character mods with a unique moveset. There's literally zero reason to use 3DS assets for creating a fake.

...ice climbers ? xD

I don't expect anything more than an HD collection of Smash 4 with all stages from both Wii U and 3DS and all the DLC.

I'd be really impressed if it's any more than that.

Anyway, as for the pictures, it would be super easy to do by modding the Wii U game and using Photoshop for any new UI elements.

Does anyone here believe that Smash Switch Deluxe isnt a thing?

This game was rumored before we got the date for the reveal

They are partnered with Bandai/Namco again

There is a ton of info about this somewhere

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Yoshi's model from the Break the target stage seems Wii U-ish to me, which is strange compared to the other images, correct me if I'm wrong.

I mean we know Smash on the Switch is inevitable, and these screenshots don't really show much of anything that surprising? Real or fake it doesn't even really matter?

Now Snake being back on the roster would be big news :p

Almost certainly fake, but why is it impossible that this uses 3DS models? Couldn't they have just started with the Wii U/3DS versions and made another enhanced port?

They developed the game using the Wii U character models as the base. The 3DS models were downscaled based on those. There's no reason for a system more powerful than the Wii U to be using the 3DS characters as the base, especially if they went to the trouble of redoing the stages.

It's likely a thing, but the weird mix of 3DS models & HD stages doesn't sit well with me. And as proven by the fake Dr. Mario stage leak, fake leakers are willing to go the extra mile to fool us.

That plus the images use 3DS models for a system that's more powerful than the Wii U.

It's a convincing fake, but it's likely a fake.

Could it have been a blanket change to enable things like split-screen Smash Run. Maybe all of that model detail goes to waste on the 720p screen?

Wii U models would have been the easiest thing to use so I don't understand why someone making a fake wouldn't, unless they were painting on 3DS geometry to do everything.

A lotta work to fake, but I know it's the kind of thing someone out there would do...

The Wii U version uses higher detail models (and textures, and lighting) than the 3DS version does. The Switch is more powerful than the Wii U even in portable mode, so it would make little sense for them to use the inferior models.

Kind of a boring leak if its fake, which makes me think its real. We all know Smash deluxe is coming.

Thats why this might actually be real

Who would go through the trouble to fake what is likely an inevitable game?

Wait... Hold on... The Smash Community totally would

People keep quoting the rayman leak, and while that was impressive, that was just one fake image in video form. This faker took the effort to make from scratch hd assets for a few stages/modes but "used the 3ds models"? If he's got that much time and effort he'd likely just use the wiiu models.

So let me get this straight. It would be stupid for hoax leaker to use simpler models, but for Nintendo, it wouldn't? What?! If you allow the possibility of Nintendo using simpler models for any reason, then the same goes for the hoaxer.

Because the Switch is more powerful than the Wii U, docked or undocked.

You meant my summary?

No one really know. I even wrote an argument or statement on that matters.

Well, Dr. Toto said that Smash for NX is in development (he tweeted it in Jan 2016 so I presume that that's when they may start their development) and he presumed that Smash NX was going to be a launch title. Dr. Toto haven't been wrong with his sources and rumors so far, and he have a reliable source in his pocket. (Warning: Take his source with a grain of salts, like I did.)

I always have a hutch that Smash for Switch wasn't going to be a launch title but I think it's going to be out by next year. During Jan 2016, Sakurai already commented that he would have a new project ready for him so we don't know if it's Smash-related or a brand new project. Also he commented that he bought a robot figurine so he could use the gun for his upcoming project.

Before people going to mention that Sakurai is on vacation. He already clarified that he's taking a breather, rather than a break.

If Sakurai chose to work on something else new. It don't meant Smash Bros is out of question, since it's plausible that Smash for Switch might be in the work, with Sakurai in small capacity, or without Sakurai, like Sakurai stay in position via Producer or so. Also the gun that he just purchased, I wonder if it's for new game project, or would it be used as prop for Inkling moveset animation concept for Smash Bros project? (Source:SourceGaming, Sakurai's GDC 2008 powerpoint)

I know it's pretty much everyone's question with upcoming Smash project? Is it enhanced port with new contents? or Is it going to be Smash 5? No one knows. It's a complete new situation for Sakurai and the fans, since Wii U kinda ended early. I meant Sakurai actually made Melee like two years after Smash Bros (64). If Dr. Toto is right about Smash for Switch being in development, then the development already went on for 14 months. However it's plausible that the development is complete and Nintendo is sitting on it so they could wait for a right time to announce and release.

I don't really think they're going to call it Super Smash 4 Deluxe, and if Sakurai's upcoming project is going to be Smash Bros for Switch (Only if he's more involved with the project.) then I would believe that we are going to see some new contents than some people expected to.

Also I would like to provide more comments from Sakurai's words. Also he have a desire to make Smash Bros as Best Character Game in the world.

“It’s pretty difficult. If I keep making Smash, I get to work on interesting things like Ryu, but if I leave, I don’t know if the staff could do it by themselves.”

Sakurai already acknowledged that characters are the perfect tool to hyping up the audiences and to build up the interest for the audiences to purchase new Smash. Personally, I think Sakurai knew Smash is one of most high profile franchise and have the power to move the consoles, so I think it might be their best interests to include brand new contents for the fans to purchase the game again. I know it's very debatable with the fact it doesn't need new contents for some fans to re-purchase the game.

He already felt that Smash for 3DS and Wii U already went passed the limit for Smash Bros franchise. Also it would made an excellent counterargument that we might not get any new characters in Smash for Switch. (I would like to mention the comments Sakurai made was in Jan 2015)

Fake or not, it is nice seeing Smash Run return. Was leagues above the Wii U version's Smash Tour, and I could see a bunch of ways to make improvements to it.

But let me ask you this, why would Sakurai & Bandai Namco bother using technically worse models for a more powerful system?

If it's a game in development combining elements from smash from 3ds, wiiu, and new content yeah I can totally expect some inconsistency in the models at this point in development. There is nothing that says the game is coming out in 2017.

Like others have pointed out, those look very similar to the 3DS models... I dunno, you'd think if someone was going to make a fake, they'd use the Wii U models instead. That's what I'd do anyway.

Not convinced this is real either, though.
