[RUMOR] Super Smash Bros Switch images leaked

Could it be possible the Sticker Star stage is edited from Color Splash?

Here's a screenshot from the game.

Wii U is wide open now so I guess its possible

Team Fake: purely based on the timing being close to E3, but not so close that they might be beaten by real leaks.

That said, I think the game is real, and I'm gutted that I probably won't be able to watch the Direct "live" this year to avoid being spoiled on whatever awesome reveal they have planned for it.

I think a Smash 4 port is coming, but I don't necessarily think these leaks are real. Seems really convenient that the screenshots would be from 3 things people want the most:

1. Break the Targets returning
2. Uprezzed 3DS stages
3. Smash Run

I think these might be in the port, but I think it's oddly convenient that they're all in this leak. Then again, I saw crazier stuff happen when I was lurking the Smash threads while waiting for validation, so...

Looks fake, but the game is real. Would be rather surprised if it's not released this year sometime between Splatoon and Mario. Would be a great pre-holiday title for Aug/Sept leading Xenoblade 2 and Mario to fill out the holiday slot. Even more so if Xenoblade is a winter release or slips into early 2018.

Yea these look fake to me since the characters looks like upscaled 3DS models, due to their textures.

Like Luigi from the bottom right looks like he has the same ambient occulsion textures and purplish pants from the 3DS version, where as the smash wii u version has a darker blue color and the denim has polygons.

I believe
Always assumed a switch port would have all the stages from 3DS and Wii U

#FreeIceClimbers

Could be a 3DS filter too, wouldn't be surprised if people prefer the handheld model to console model
I remember lots of 3DS people hating the Wii U version for some reason

Considering how other games on switch perform I cant see any benefit to swapping models when going undocked

I think they are just allowing the use of all the assets in this mega mix of a game

Another thought - Smash Run, since it uses so many assets in multiplayer, could use the lower-res 3DS models?

But again, the Switch is more powerful than the Wii U. The Smash 4 models are no more detailed than most Wii U models, but you didn't see MK8D downsample their models. Same for ARMS, they just cut the frame rate & resolution. Going with 3DS models for a Switch game when there's Wii U models that the system can handle makes zero sense.

They could just prefer to "sacrifice" character fidelity for gameplay reasons too. Smash 4 on Wii U in 8 player smash already uses lower quality models and some stages are completely unavailable, here we seemingly have 4 player splitscreen smash run.
If real they could of decided to take that route then instead of lowering res or framerate.

Everyone is pointing out that they're 3DS models so can someone help me understand the difference?

I assumed the models were the same besides being optimized and lower quality textures

Then why not use those lower-bone-count models from 8-Player Smash for the port? Why downgrade that far if the system is more powerful than the Wii U in every regard? Plus the downgrade seems to impact regular battles as well, which would be overkill.

This shit is fascinating!

IM pretty pumped for Smash 4 deluxe

Looks like they are packing it to the brim with content

The Paper Mario stage looks like entirely too much work to be fake BUT this could go either way.

Either way, if a Switch version of Smash brings the 3DS stages with it, that would be really, really great.

Greenzxy pretty much summed it up.

I guess I'm just stuck wondering why the faker, if fake, would use 3DS models when literally every Wii U character asset is on the internet?

If I wanted to be overly analytical, I'd point out two things with this image:

h1LFT5A.png

One, the shadows underneath toon link don't quite match up. The shadow of the top right screen is further to the right than it is on the bottom left screen.

Secondly, and this one really stands out more than anything, but shouldn't there be a (2P ->) symbol on the right side of the bottom left screen? Usually in smash if something is just off screen there is something to show this. Either a simply icon marker with an arrow, or in some cases a full circle with a fully animated small model of the character that is just off screen.

Good point!

Anyone who is really tech-savvy - could you see the value of using different models when doing splitscreen Smash Run?

Are the characters on the Paper Mario stage the 3DS models as well?

It looks really real. In my opinion, the Paper Mario stage being so complicated and detailed far outweighs any inconsistency with Bowser Jr's name. Same with the other Smash Run stages.

I'm excited to see other enemies in HD 3D, too. Kritters from DKC!

Please put King K. Rool in, Sakurai.

The models are the only thing giving me any real pause.

Regardless, I have been waiting for the 4chan leaks. You know it's nearly E3 time when they emerge.

What if the Smash 4 Switch is using the 3DS models as a basis? What if the 3DS models were higher contrast on purpose for being on smaller screen, which is the case with the Switch?

I was like "these character models look worse," then remembered there was a 3DS version, lol.

Not buying these but I wouldn't be surprised if Smash was announced next month.

Ugh, why would a faker put all this effort into such a boring thing like the Switch Smash port, which we already know is most likely real? I'm not saying this is real or not, I'm just saying, do something more exciting, like a Metroid Prime game! And then watch everybody flip their shit and argue back and forth.
