Yeah I'm wondering they end up being Western-focused games that just happen to be developed by Japanese devs.
I hope not, let those devs do what they want without forcing them to adapt a style thry're not very familiar with. That Monster Hunter rumor for example sounds terrible.

Well a lot of these Japanese games hopefully won't be exclusives. FFVII remake for example isn't. Just because they get announced at Sony's presser doesn't mean they are exclusives.

Edit: Or is it exclusive? I remember Boyes saying that it would come first to PS4.

Pretty sure VIIR is just PS4/PC

Ape Escape Trilogy and Jumping Flash! Trilogy (remake à la Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy) please.

I for one am pleased with the amount of ape escape mentions in this thread

Hopefully not more announcements of games that don't actually exist and that are 5-10 years away
This lil meme is getting mad old now

Do we actually have some kind of knowledge on Ape Escape, or we just wishing?

A Mega Man Legends reboot that contains all the content of 1 and 2, as well as properly wraps up the story, would be a big announcement in my book. And with that, my expectations have been set. Your move, Japan.

Dammit, now my expectations are fixed to this.

(Really want a Mega Man X Collection too)

Wishing, 2 being one of the first classics to release,3 being the first trademarked and still not out. Ape escape team was all together again two years ago but that could mean absolutely nothing

All in all I wanna believe

Ret's goooooooooooooo

Also if they show off the new Yakuza there...yeah they better give it a big spotlight.

Some fantastic games have come out of Japan more recently and I hope that, unlike the latter half of last-gen, the big Japanese devs don't shit the bed again and stop believing in themselves.

Last gen started off so well with Lost Planet 1&2, RE5, DMC4, Lost Planet, Blue Dragon etc etc..

Lets hope we continue to get more and more solid Japanese releases here in the west.

The thing with Square Enix and Japanese games is that they announce them 3-4 years before they come out, sometimes it even takes longer.

Fixed that for you.

Sony has been pretty timely with their Japanese games recently. (Bloodborne, Gravity Rush 2, Puppeteer, Knack, Freedom Wars, Gravity Rush: Remastered. Even The Last Guardian after it's re-reveal was only a year and a half out.)

I'm pumped for the martial arts game from Miyazaki that has been floating around. This shit better be true. IT BETTER!

I was counting the Last guardian and Deep Down and Death Stranding and ...

I mean yeah, Western market saved some of them, but I'm thinking in terms of reigniting the home market.

(I could be way out of my depth regarding the country's gaming tastes)

It'll definitely be western focused games. Titles like Persona and Nier never got a showing at Sony's stage in past years.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I know it's near impossible, but I wouldn't mind seeing a Fatal Frame on PS4.

Fair! All were announced by Sony.

I'd say those are exceptions though. Deep Down is developed by Capcom, The Last Guardian fits the bill. And with the drama surrounding Kojima, an early announcement was inevitable.

Doesn't matter who got a deal with Kojima, they would have announced it instantly.

Sony could talk 85 mins about Knack 2 and Wonderbook 2, then announce Bloodborne 2 with a gameplay trailer and ppl would give 9/10 for the conference ;)

I'd love for either remastered Ape Escape(or a new one) and some Wild ARMs. That could be all they announce it would still be one of the best conferences ever. Last years was great, but man, Violence, Violence, and more Violence was the word of the day, with the exception being Crash and Detroit.

What we saw of Detroit was more violent than TLG, Death Stranding and Horizon imo.
I don´t think it was too violent. Days Gone and RE7 are the ones that stand out to me.

The thing was, we know Death Stranding will have violence, and Horizon does as well, though it is against machines, the main mechanic is still 'firing'.

Time to re-reveal Deep Down.

Sony and Capcom were hyping it like crazy in 2013 and 2014, now lets see some of it.

An early announced game would eventually come out, but a game already in mid development could always be cancelled...

...Yup, nailed it :)

I've always thought they should have just reworked that project and turned it into Dragon's Dogma 2. Big open world RPG's are huge business right now.

But I doubt we see that ever happen
