It's meant to be a premium product, something MS has said openly.

If MS drops it at $399 I will be quite surprised, as it would likely mean MS taking a loss on each unit. You don't take losses on 'premium' products, as they are more price insensitive. You take losses on mainstay products that you want to build a market share for against competition.

I kind of see the Scorpio in the Steam Machine category rather than console category. It's basically a cheap PC box that will perform as a mid-quality PC. I don't really see it as competition for the PS4 Pro. For me, the main competition is between PS4 and Xbox One, with the Pro and Scorpio being kind of like extensions of that. I don't see a lot of people switching from a potential PS4 Pro purchase to a potential Scorpio purchase based purely on the characteristics of those two machines.

PS4 Pro for Sony != Scorpio for Microsoft.

they marketed this thing for hell like 1 year with all hints teases and shit.

ps4 pro was like what they said lol we have a conference next week and be done with it.

they are in full cringey mode since last year and last few months extremely because of this "POWAA" stuff.

If he's 100% confident he's right I can't really blame, I know I wouldn't take the high road if 10s of thousands of peoplewere saying I'm wrong, but he's setting himself up to look real silly if he's wrong, like 0 credibility silly.

I still think the price will end up at $399. Microsoft has been hyping the Scorpio like it's the flagship for a little while now so I don't think it would drop at a price that would ensure the average consumer​ would leave it alone. I'm probably wrong though

Yup. He's betting his credibility on something that is just few hours away. He could have played it safer in that original tweet, but he went all in.
