I meant access as in having Microsoft people on his shows or interviews in the future. I could see any of the big gaming companies saying "if you run that leak, we won't let you interview our exec next year" if they were faced with a leak that they really didn't want to get out there.

Phil Spencer still gets grilled by Giant Bomb every year and they leaked XB1's u-turn. It's not a big deal except internally. Whoever is leaking will be investigated (internally, noones going to jail over this like some believe!)

My expectation way back when it was announced was 5000kr, which in video game company rates is $500. It's kind of incredible how many believe it had to be $400 or [horrific scenario].

I'll buy it as soon as I can afford it, hopefully at launch.

Man, I just can't see this selling well at all unless it gets a price drop quickly. Microsoft still has time to stop this mistake before the launch, but I doubt they'll do anything about it.

It's a shame only a small amount of people are going to get to play on this console, since it looks really nice and spec-wise is more like what the PS4 Pro should have been.

Like I said many times, NeoGAF has a tendency to overhype rumours (or in this case downplay bc 499 was too expensive) about pricing and disregard what the messaging was going for. X.B.O.X. was clearly for the higher end market, and Microsoft opted to put in more tech and power. That's not going to come cheap. The same thing happened with the Switch earlier when the reveal happened, where people shit themselves thinking the 199-249 rumours were true and then flipped shit when they found out that 299 was the actual price.

I mean come on, some of you only have yourselves to blame.

I didn't really follow this whole saga, but people had actually decided Geoff was either wrong or click-baiting? Nah, dude doesn't do that.

Still, as someone said a few pages back. Show looked like $399, but it's actually $499. X plays UHD Blu-Ray though? That's the only thing that makes that price even remotely palatable, and then only to those that were in the market for a player anyway - and that segment isn't nearly as price sensitive, but that just makes them more likely to have a comparable, or better, PC.

The One S has a blu ray player tho. Just for the extra ram alone ppl should have expected more than $399.

This thread and the "put this into google images and this comes up!" thread are filled with pure gold.

I think mad is the wrong word. Disappointed probably fits better, for the most part. I personally don't really care, because I have a PC with better specs, anyway, and every single game at their conference is gonna be on PC.

Why do most people think it is expensive? It's better than the Pro with more capabilities. It's cheaper than an equivalent PC (at least where i live) and it is supposed to be a premium model. In my opinion XBOXs price is justifiable unlike XBOs launch price with the kinect.

Also used 8GB ram, not 12,

I used an Intel G4560, a 1060 gpu, cheap case, mobo, power supply. 500GB harddrive. 3.5" drive, not the ones that come in consoles.

I've never built a PC before but have upgraded everything inside except cpu, cpu cooler, mobo.

The Xbox One X a good price for what it is.

That's basically the problem. I can buy into an expensive Switch because they offered me Zelda Breath of the Wild day one and I know 100% I'm going to get some Nintendo games on it. I can sort of buy into a PS4 Pro because they showed Horizon, which looks gorgeous on a HDR screen.

But they threw out a $650 AUD console, more than the price of a Nvidia Corporation GTX1080 when eBay or Amazon has one of their relatively commmon discounts, without any real compelling Xbox One X only exclusives to someone who doesn't really care a whole lot about racing games.

I sort of agree and disagree.

The Xbox One X is alright value if you're locked into the Xbox ecosystem and absolutely do not want to leave it but if you're open to the concept of PC gaming, its price range puts it in a rough position. CPU and CPU impact on high resolution gaming is at a relative standstill. If you own a desktop since 2011, all you have to buy is a GPU and maybe a new 500W power supply to power the card.

Its unfortunate that the Xbox One X released at this time because its stuck with AMD's last generation CPUs, which are both old and not particularly good even at the time they launched.

Yes, if they wait until early 2018, when the first Zen APUs start releasing, which are going to be vastly more powerful/efficient than what's inside XBOX. The timing of this console is rather unfortunate and the reason why it's packing a custom Jaguar-based APU, which is old now.
