Xbox One X - Available November 7 for $499

After thinking about it for a day or two now, I've turned around on this thing and I really want one. Probably gonna wait for the inevitable Halo 6 bundle though.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Well I was originally going to wait, but after sleeping on it I am gonna get it day 1. It's still going to be an exclusive machine, but the 4k player and enhanced BC pushed me over the edge. Just need Tales of Vesperia BC to make me truly happy lol.

Also let us Preorder!
Just curious, why get it and make it an exclusives machine?

I'm super down on that release date. All these great games that come out in September and October and I have to let them sit on my hard drive without playing them. FeelsBadMan

Tell me about. I will be two months into Destiny. I would have loved a September release. Plus F7 is out in September as well.

I would consider myself a 'target buyer' for the XB1X.

I had a 360 from 2007 (and OG Xbox before that), was heavily invested in XBL, all my gaming friends were on that system and everything was honkey dory. Then the XB1 launch happened in 2013.

Confusion over game sharing, 24hr 'check ins' and TV TV TV
Worries over power disparities with PS4
Worries over price
Why is Kinect being forced down my throat

The PS4 launch was so slick, simple and focussed. It was all about games and sleek power.

Within a few months of backtracking/backflipping and blurred lines from MS, I was fed up with them. So were my friends. We all bought PS4s. They'd lost us.

So 3 years later with PS4, I was heavily invested in PS+, all my friends were on that system and everything was honkey dory. Then PS4 Pro was announced, shortly after PSVR. Sony promised improved graphics/framerates with Pro patched games, better performance and graphics for PSVR. Boost mode was icing on the cake.

I bought PS4 Pro and PSVR, without a single regret. Love them both.

But from the sidelines, MS wants to tempt me with the XB1X. The Empire is striking back.

I do feel genuine respect that MS seem to be firing with all guns blazing, but for me it's simply not enough. It's too late. I already have upgraded to the console I want, where my friends are and am having a great time. I've no need to return to an MS console, whether it be more powerful or not.

Maybe next gen.

If they take enough heat for the $499 price between now and November, do you think they will actually change it? (or pack a game in at least)

Assuming they will have trade-ins for the X, do limited editions net more generally? If I had an OG One I wouldn't mind, but am sitting on the Halo 5 limited one so..

This isnt directed at you, but I wish devs and news outlets would stop bastardizing these terms. NOTHING this late in development is freaking PRE-ALPHA. If they want to say nightly build, untested, etc go ahead. There is no way they havnt started formalized testing in the process. /rant.
Whatever a development studio define as their pre-alpha stage in their GDLC, is pre-alpha.

There's no it's too late for this. They define their own model for how they develop and it will be unique at every development studio.

The tough thing in my mind is that I prefer (like most people?) to have a go-to console for multiplats. Obv that's been the PS4 Pro as of late, and it's going to toggle to Xbox again.

Then Sony will counter, etc. I'm thinking gone are the days where one console is clearly on top for an extended period of time. Even now I'm thinking hmm, do I order that on Xbox b/c it's probably going to run better on that platform later?

Considering I see practically zero heat from the mainstream, probably not. If it wasn't for these bogus 399 rumors on niche gaming forums there would have been significantly less outrage regardless.

I really want the system. I love the idea to play on the most powerful console. But where are the games ? Like seriously ?

I love crackdown don't get me wrong. And I would buy it day one . And even though I have a GTX 1080 I still prefer consoles. But I am not gonna spend 550$ with a tax on a system I don't see any games for it outside of Forza. Sea of theives that I don't care about and crackdown .

I wonder if I should wait till more exclusives announced. This is really the first time I am a hesitant to buy a console and I own everything still since my super Nintendo to Dreamcast.

MS is lacking this much

Oh wait I remember that, I just don't remember the Xbox 360 costing almost a grand in terms of cost but I could be wrong.

Maybe it was 800 bucks. But no doubt the thing didn't cost 399 to make. Multi core processors didn't even exist at the time for consumers. As did HD consoles and graphics cards with never before seen features etc.

I see 8GB flash memory listed amongst its 12 gigs of ram and 1tb of hdd, how is this used? I assume it's makes for essentially a SSHD by caching data from the mechanical drive? Anybody know anything on this 8 gigs?

Does the OG xbone have flash memory for its OS as well? Or will this speed up the process of booting the console sort of like my boot ssd does for my pc?

Go Go Neo Rangers!

I believe the GPU was also crazy advanced for the time.

Was not going to start a new thread about this, but wanted to confirm as I want to take advantage of Best Buy GCU and the $10 Rewards Eligible titles, so if I order an XBox One game, that is the same as ordering an XBox One X game, this is correct right? Like there is not going to be a different package / disk??

I am 95% positive there will not be, but I just want to make sure before I go ahead and preorder about 3 titles.
And what is crazy is I am for the first time in many years going with XBox for multi-platform titles.

You are correct. Xbox One games (disc or digital) are the same thing as Xbox One X games. Also, any Xbox One accessories you have are 100% compatible with Xbox One X as well (the one exception possibly being the vertical stand for Xbox One S probably isn't compatible with Xbox One X but I'm not sure).

I don't know about this one, good question

So a new One X apparently comes with 1 month of free Game Pass, not bad at all.

For me buying this boils down to the feature set MS have built over the last 3 years and the inevitable 1st party games coming soon. There are so many things right with the platform to simply ignore like a superior controller, vastly better platform functionality, improved UI (which will be even better on the One X apparently), best version of any game for the next 4 years at least.

The value MS gives back to its players through BC speaks volumes about how invested they are in its users. Digital also looks like its making positive turns now that refunds are allowed. My digital library is vindicated by this consoles release, I can revisit Dishonored, Witcher 3 and Fallout again.

I am positive the games will come, now that the hardware issue has been resolved.

Which multiplats and exclusives am I going to get this for? Because I am absolutely getting one.

Shadow of War, clearly, but what else can I enjoy on this? I'll already own Cuphead on my S.

Maybe Anthem? Does Ori have a release date?

Even at $499 I've no doubt X1 fans would eat it up. Hell they could price it at $599 and it still would sell to the core fans. Would be interesting to see the momentum on Jan-April 2018 period.

Have the hard drive specs come out yet? From the video that Larry posted of he and that gent assembling an X, both that other guy and Phil I believe said it needed a faster drive for loading 4K assets, but no one has said what the drive is.

From the assembly video it is clearly a Seagate drive, but I was unable to read the specs of the drive from the few screencaps I took. If the specs haven't be released yet, what do you guys think, SSHD drive like the OG Elite has?
