Had no idea people were doing this when I traded in some games. Don't really care though since the next closest Gamestop to me is over an hour away.

Anyways, traded in 6 games and got way more than I thought I would. Got $140 for them, including over $47 for Majora's Mask 3D alone (which I bought at Walmart for $25 on Black Friday 1 1/2 years ago and never ended up playing). Also completely forgot I had $110 on my Powerup Rewards card (the $140 went on a gift card), so I now have $250 in Gamestop credit I'm not sure what to do with.

So, one pro account with two trade card at 1k per trade card?

Sorry, should have been more specific. Yeah, that's right. Each pro account is a $2k limit. each trade card will only hold a thousand (as somone else mentioned). If you're looking beyond that you'll need another PUR account (friend, relative) that wouldn't mind you using it or some means of making a burner account. Not sure if they're tied to ID's but definitely a different phone number ( a lot of states have different requirements...fingerprints, ID's etc..)

Thanks for the clarification.

I'm adding up old games I know I won't replay or have on PC, and I can get a decent amount, but is there a way to use the credit for something worthwhile? I don't shop at Gamestop much. Talking about buying Amazon or Steam gift cards.

You can use credit on pretty much any gaming giftcard. Steam, PSN, XBL, etc. Not Amazon or other big boxstores like Walmart though.

I'm not 100% but I've heard you can NOT use credit to buy out of the gamestop ecosystem. There was someone that said you could use your trade credit to purchase a gamestop gift card with whatever your credit is and then move to another store and use that gift card to purchase a visa gift card or something similar. Don't know the success rate on that though and i imagine there is a small activation fee on the visa cards.

edit** to clarify: XBL, Steam and PSN are all a go for credit use, but for outside gamestop see above.

Low key may have just requested about 15 pre-owned games for pickup tomorrow, spread out at four different stores. And one store has a lot more but you can only reserve six at a time.

Is there a limit to the amount of games you can put on hold per store? I got three out on hold and then I tried for the other three games and it said it said I couldn't put them on hold. It shows them as available on the website though. I suppose they could have picked up and the website is just not fully updated yet to reflect that.

Shouldn't be, I held 9 games one after another no issues.

I was able to do 9 at a store yesterday with no issues.

Did my run today ended up with 2 free games and +$60 credit. Not bad.

But DAMN I went to a new GS i've never been to and they had a goldmine of 3DS games. I was about to buy 9 of them, but decided i'm too tired to make another run.

If those trade-in values are still up tommorow I think i'll make my run.

PSA for anyone in the Bay Area : Don’t trade or buy at Emeryville GameStop. The manager Luong there is super anal and clearly won’t let certain games be bought or traded. Apparently DMs in the area are aware of flipping so no idea what other stores are doing this but steer clear of that one.

You should have bought them and then check the values in the morning. You can easily return all of them if the values tank.

Good idea! I've never done holds before but I just requested Zelda BotW for both consoles and a Horizon Zero Dawn for myself to finally play. Here's hoping it works as that's the closest with all 3 in stock. $20 credit bump when trade back in and a free game.

Would you say this is worth the hassle if I don't have GCU, not a gamestop pro member, and have no games to trade in?

Probably answered already but if not...

YES.

I never went to best buy with this. I was not a powerup pro member. I bought my six starting games at walmart for $116 after sales tax. I then went to Gamestop #1 and opened them before entering and traded them in for over $200 in credit, buying the pro membership at the same time with part of said credit (which got me the extra 10%).

I took that credit and bought three of the Nintendo titles at that gamestop (all they had due to my limited list when I started). I went to gamestop #2 and got three other Nintendo games. Went to gamestop #3 and traded in the six Nintendo games for $340, using part of it to re buy the six games I originally started with, only used this time b2g1. Went to gamestop 4 and traded those six games, buying six nintendo games. By this point I already had hundreds on my gift card, and six games in my passenger seat. Rinsed and repeated at a few more gamestops. Made $1000 in pure profit.

Might try to do it again tomorrow at a few stores I didnt have time to visit today to hit the $2000 max. I have to assume the Nintendo games will hold their value because a lot of folks are just moving inventory between gamestops, no net gain. The spiderman, pvz2, and need for speed games surely have to drop in value tonight though lol.

So earlier today I checked the website and it showed MGS4 for $0.65 and I get to the gamestop which is around 30 min from my house, just for them to tell me its not tradeable???

I checked the site again and its not on there now! Wtf, now i gotta find another game to make 6 games.

one of my legit trade ins was LEGO City Undercover on Switch. Got $42.50 for it, which is great because it'll be a $30 game retail in a few months.

Is it safe to rebuy the exact game we traded in?

How does returning used games work? Would I get exactly what I paid for, or am I getting the trade in value again?

If you buy pre-owned products you have seven days to return the games for any reason as long as you have the receipt. You will receive a full refund of your original payment method. If you take advantage of b2g1 you have to return every single item or else they can't process a return.

You can buy steam cards for sure.

Thanks. Might as well get Steam cards and buy Nier.

Damn good point. I guess ill go first thing in the morning. It was a mall GS so they we're closing as I left so hopefully it will all still be there tomorrow.

They wouldn't even let you buy! I would not let him get away with that, file a complaint.

I don't want to start a fight in the middle of a store. So all I did was just pull all my pre-orders from that store he was pissed but I figured I'd hurt him more than way than anything.
