NHL Off-Season 2017 |OT| We’ve Been Here Since October

Or the leaks were fake. I believe NOTHING that Edmonton sports media says.

They were pretty adamant that they weren't going to talk about the details of the negotiations. Only that they came to a mutually beneficial agreement that benefited both Connor and the Oilers. But of course they're going to say that anyway.

Reminds me of something...

Why does he remind me of Jeb Bush? Is it the awkwardness?

When is the arbitration deadline again?

The deadline to file is 1 hour from now. Not sure the dates yet of the actual hearings/contract awarding, but it'll be end of July/early August.

I expect AGally will file. I just hope it doesn't actually get to arbitration. The relationship between AGally and the Habs is already hanging by a thread. The mud-slinging, ugly process of arbitration would likely be the nail in the coffin.

And I still believe it's possible BargainBin orchestrates a sign and trade with him.

McDavid making sure his contract is tradable confirmed ;) I see he doesn't want to be stuck in Edmonton long-term.

And come back with a bigger appreciation for Ontario 1 year later.
Nope. Haven't checked lately, but Alberta has led Canada in population growth for quite awhile with most coming from Ontario.

Unfortunately we can't seem to cure them of that awful Leaf disease. Alberta doctors have been trying to help those poor souls for 50 years now. There must be something in that Ontario water that caused permanent disability.

Maybe the mighty powers of the McDavid savior can cure them of that horrible affliction.

The good guy McDavid narrative writes itself. Everybody wins! Ontario kids, God love em.

Good for Connor, wish he got more, but the low hard cap/lack of endorsements/relatively low popularity makes hockey contracts look like chump change compared to the other leagues.

That being said the NBA is clearly demonstrating why a soft cap is meaningless

Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.
You know, just once in my life I'd love to see a top player in the NHL not toe the company line, and not be a predictable, safe, boring corporate cog and not sign long term with the team that drafted them.

Like, McDavid is from Ontario, so he was probably a Leafs fan growing up. Fuck the Leafs, but still, I'd love to see him say "my dream was always to play for the Leafs, so I'll give you 7 years of service Edmonton til I hit UFA, and I'll give you everything I have in that time to try to win a cup, but then I'm going to do what I always dreamed of."

Instead it's the no fun allowed league where Tavares will sign for 8 years in Long Island because that's just what you do.

I mean, a big part of that is probably that IN those 7 years in the organization you start to love the team, the teammates and the fans and you BECOME an Oilers fan. Or whatever team you play for. Stockholm Syndrome.

Pettersson is moving from Timra to Vaxjo of the SHL. Good stuff. He'll be playing with his brother Emil and NHL great Ville Leino.

Dahlen is probably heading to Utica but could also join Pettersson in the SHL.

Also, Juolevi apparently added on 20 lbs while focusing on conditioning.

Any Canucks fans know of a way to catch the Top Prospects game tomorrow night?

I need to recruit a new Habs fan that has a little positivity in their life, this is a battle I can't fight alone.

I'm positive.

Positive Bergevin is ruining this team, hehe.

It's hard to be an optimist about this team considering they continue making the same mistakes year after year. If he keeps Galchenyuk I'll certainly feel better about the direction of the team, but after a good first impression, Bergevin has been taking one step forward, and two steps backwards with nearly every move he makes.

How the fuck does Sylvain Lefebvre keep his job? That almost pisses me off more than anything.

I think they're live-streaming it from their Facebook page

Leino was one of those players whom announcers couldn't help but say their full name every time. Always "Ville Leino" instead of just "Leino." The most noticeable and aggravating was of course Owen Nolan. There must be something about rhymes/alliteration that people can't resist.

Even if it's arbitration they'll get a decent contract on Galchenyuk. Now is probably the worst to time to trade him. You don't give up on Gally this early. Trading him now for the sake of shake up would definitely be one of those steps backward. I don't think there's any miracle offer out there that is going to give Montreal fair value considering the potential.

Lol Dopey are you serious

I'm one of the biggest Willy fans out there and he won't put up 100 points. 70 to 75 points isn't that far fetched though.
