Said it prettty much just how I was thinking it. The friend zone doesn't exist, you've been rejected. This friend zone bullshit that so many men go on about is just another way of saying that you reckon she owes you something because you've been such a "nice guy" to her. No fucking means no. It doesn't mean maybe, it means NO. If you truly valued and respected her as a person and as a friend you would stop attempting to push her into something that she's expressed that she does not want. Also, I'm sure if she saw the way you talked about being "together" and shit like that, she'd be super fucking uncomfortable. As a female, I can tell you I felt incredibly uneasy reading it. Grow up and move on.

Ok I guess that's the crux of it. The guy (or girl in this supposed zone) is using the "friend zone" as a crutch, justification, and deflection. And if it's something that was done to him, as opposed to something he did to himself, then he (or she) is a victim of the person that doesn't reciprocate the love. Correct?

Yes, and that's why the term is bunk.

And while I'm sure some women might invoke it it's usually used as a weapon against women for not putting out in return for all the "nice" things a man did for her.

OP go date other people. It's not that hard to line up a coffee or a drink with someone. Shit take a decent pic and get on Tinder and I'd be surprised if you couldn't line up a date by next week. Just stop putting all of your eggs in one basket and go out there and meet people.

Rejection sucks, but she's being nice about it. I got rejected too in a similar fashion just recently, and while it sucks, I can appreciate it.

Not only do you misread an article to come up with the conclusion about feminism but then go about people "entitled" to feminism are "actually retarded", and mention some random case of one woman getting outraged about a dude's name as your ultimate proof that feminism is "retarded". I wonder what's at play here.

I don't get why saying you've been friend zoned implies you think women/men owe you sex/anything. You like someone, you want to be more than friends, that person just wants to be friends, it's a friend zone.

To me it seems like people associate it with these negative connotations because, certainly, many men who use it might also think women owe them sex, but I've never seen any explanation as to why the term inherently implies that.

Because the term is often used in conjunction with language that implicitly or explicitly states that the person who wants more has been placed in the friendzone by the other party, often because of ulterior motives. Unrequited love doesn't have the samw connotation.

The friend zone isn't just exclusive to men. I have a co worker who is female and she would do all types of stuff for me like make me dinner and buy me little things here and there. She's really cute and super smart but I'm in a great relationship and I'm not fucking it up lol. One day after drinks with a small group of co workers she wanted to know if I was interested in her or if she was in the friend zone, her words not mine. I told her I was in a great relationship but she is effectively in the friend zone the more I think about it.

What frustrates me about her is I have a friend that would treat her like a fucking queen and she doesn't even look in his direction. I invited her to a BBQ in June with the intentions of helping my friend out and try to set them up. He's a good looking guy and really nice. She just wasn't into him I guess. She kept on hanging around me to the point we're my girlfriend was getting jealous/pissed. Dating is such a pain in the ass.

Not to mention the example he cited of a feminist defeat was actually a middle aged man showing his ass by making a dick joke instead of arguing. His name was not in fact Hugh Mungus. She handled the subsequent yelling match badly but it has zero bearing on the state of modern feminism. Be astonished if this poster makes it past noon.

See, to me this doesn't explain anything as to why the terms means that.
All it says is some people use it that way and from that, some extrapolate that's what everyone means by it, disregarding intent and context.

There's a reason why you needed to say it's used in conjunction with other language or why Rorshach looked up the definition and saw nothing wrong with it, because there's nothing inherent to the expression itself that says "you owe me sex".

Not that this is a hill worth dying on mind you, if someone feels bad hearing that term, I won't use it (well, not that I do anyway), but I just can't understand/agree.

The problem with your attitude is: You're not even willing to try to accept someone elses opinion on it. You're so entilted to your "feminism is warranted" stance that you're not seeing how far these humans went.

When feminists start being triggered by a name or just a couple kissing in public (see here) or by just saying hello to them (here), you know they're not right in their mind.
