Very impressive numbers. I hope 3rd party will release games for the system. They don't have to port everything but they shouldn't ignore it completely. The system will easily outsell the WiiU and seems to have more mass appeal.

My Switch list for the remainder of the year, among known titles, includes:

- Sonic Mania
- Mario + Rabbids
- Stardew Valley
- Rocket League
- Pokken Tournament DX
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Open to Fire Emblem Warriors and Skyrim, but not yet sold. Also open to more indies.

I was under the impression everyone got PS4 to play resogun.
I mean I wasn't even an early adopter of PS4 but I could see value in playing better versions of AC4 or Battlefield. In those cases sports games were out earlier in the system's life than on Switch as well if I recall correctly.

Is there a BotW equivalent? No, but there didn't really need to be for the system to do well.

Nice list but add Fire Emblem Warriors and Skyrim for me. And NBA2K.

So with Digital 230,000 for arms in Japan?

By the end of June Media Create has ARMS retail at:

02./01. [NSW] Arms <FTG> (Nintendo) {2017.06.16} (¥5.980) - 19.307 / 148.707 (-33%)

90,000 digital Copies!??

edit
oh but, Famitsu had ARMS at:

02./01. [NSW] Arms <FTG> (Nintendo) {2017.06.16} (¥5.980) - 16.618 / 171.463 <80-100%> (-49%)
And they include download cards right?
Unless stated otherwise, assume the figures are shipped...

DS first 4 months: 5.27 million
Wii first 4 months: 5.84 million
3DS first 4 months: 4.32 million
Wii U first 4 months: 3.45 million

4.7 is pretty nice considering it didnt have the holiday season to help

How many more million sellers are expected to ship this year?

Splatoon 2 (already over a million as far as I'm concerned)
Mario + Rabbids
Super Mario Odyssey
Pokken Tournament DX

are Fire Emblem Warriors and Xenoblade 2 expected to be million sellers? How big will Sonic Mania be assuming it's as good as it looks?

Skyrim is the biggest 3rd party game this whole year, time to think a bit harder about why Nintendo published games are taking up the majority of sales. The makeup of the Switch user base is vastly different than previous Nintendo console owners, so as 3rd parties start to release their games on the platform, you will start to see 3rd party sales percentage rise.

You also have for the first time ever, a real reason to buy that 3rd party multiplat on the Nintendo platform over Microsoft's or Sony's and that is baked into the concept of the device. (play anywhere functionality) Personally as a PC gamer, Switch interests me in ways that no Nintendo device has ever interested me before, and I can see myself getting big AAA games on the Switch, publishers only have to be brave enough to port their games.

The 2nd paragraph wont hold up for most part tbh.
Portables always had the sports games, not sure how well they did. About the others, were talking ps360 quality games. Id agree if the switch was getting ac origins or battlefront with lowered visuals but right now its not really much of a choice. Paying full price for skyrim or Xenoverse just feels absurd to me. But for someone who hasn't played either, maybe it sounds better?
We really cant judge until they start launching games simultaneously.

So for all the shortage talk does this mean they actually put out a decent amount of systems for the demand or not?
Im not really sure how much other consoles sold in the same period and if we considered them to have shortages at retail.

Fire Emblem Warriors looks good to me but its gonna need alotta positive word of mouth to get alotta sales.

Xeno2 is niche and it prolly won't need to pass a million to make a profit.

Getting both on day one though.

I don't understand how ARMS has sold that much given the figures we know.

For June NPD it sold about 250k including digital.

Japan physical was around 150k last time I checked?

UK it sold less than 15k in June. France it debuted at number 1 but quickly slipped below Zelda and MK8. Germany it didn't set the charts alight.

Where are all these extra copies coming from to get over a million in two weeks?

It's at 200k in Japan including download cards but excluding pure digital (on famitsu). That's 450k there. UK is Nintendo's weakest market and fighting games don't do great there usuall.

I know the games library is, shall we say 'focused' at the moment, but those attach rates are insane. To be fair its because Nintendo created a great console with even better games!

Now just waiting for my virtual console.

Attach rates are just about the worst metric to measure the success of any console

Yep, and I'm cool with that. Spring Man is iconic timeless design, stong and simple. And Ribbon Girl is my waifu. Both will be plenty unique on the Smash roster.
Yeah, I actually love Spring Man's design. Really, there's not a single character I hate the look of from that game.

Rocket League and Minecraft will definately sell 1M units on the Switch.. maybe not this year but total.

Mario/Rabbids I think is kind of an unknown factor, and it would be a mistake to assume it will do a million just because it has Mario on it.

For the last two, DQ Heroes didn't do great on Switch, and was a bad port on top of that, so FE Warriors is in a bit of rough water. Xenoblade Chronicles X hit around 104k before falling off the Media Create charts, and without a doubt Japan is the most Xeno-favourable market, so a million seems unlikely in my opinion.

Japan loves Mario (more 2D than 3D, but they still love him nonetheless).

It's going to sell. I just wouldn't expect Japanese sales to be as insane as we all expect Western sales to be. Since it is, as you said, a 3D Mario after all.

4.7 million is pretty good, although I wonder how many of those where in the first month. Be nice to see a graph over the 4 months since release, or a comparison with some other consoles.

Both numbers are great and both consoles had supply constraints.

Yea that what I was about to say, it's not like PS4 wasn't supply constrained, it was sold out everywhere and it took me awhile to get my hands on one, so yea this argument doesn't say much.

Switch sold very well but obviously no one is delusional enough to think it can threat the PS4 in any way.

2.76 million, meaning they sold 1.96 million Switches over the last three months.

Basically, if Nintendo wants to hit its 10 million target for this year, they need to up production.

they sold a little under 2m for the quarter.

i don't think a comparison with other consoles works outside of maybe 3ds. everything else was pretty staggered and/or came out in the holidays.
