It's interesting to see how unexpected Switch's success is being
It looks crazy in hindsight but pre-release the feeling was extremely negative

The only thing stopping me from selling my switch after xeno 2 is a bayo 2 port lol.Uh... Speak for yourself, I want portable Xenoblade X, Mario 3D World, and Captain Toad. Will double dip.
Mk8 sold like 8 million on wii u no?
Thats not a very reasonable standard to hold every game to lolOnly 22 million less than MK Wii
It looks like it's below the PS4 overall, but still a great pace.
Switch, March 3, 2017 - June 30, 2017 (119 days): 4.7 million shipped (likely all sold)
PS4, November 15, 2013 - March 2, 2014 (107 days): 6 million sold
Xbox One, November 22, 2013 - April 17, 2014 (146 days): 5 million shipped
Oh, you're counting July stuff.

I don't see splatoon overtaking Mario kart worldwide.

So basically above the X1, and close to PS4.
Impressive for a march launch and constant stock issues.
Hopefully will be better managed than the Wii on the long term, and hopefully 3rd parties will take it more seriously rather than doing shitty experiments like last time.
Misleading because seasonal effects are thing.
The success of Zelda is a wonderful thing.
The success of Mario Kart is a depressing thing.
Yeah, I mean, PS4 and Xbox One came out right before Christmas (but PS4 was supply constraint as well), I honestly don't think it's fair to compare them with the Switch.
I believe the Switch will easily arrive second by the end of the gen.
Great numbers!
Yeah, I think launch aligned numbers for each console's one-year mark will give a much more accurate idea of how the Switch stacks up. We have to wait until next March for that, of course, but until then no launch aligned comparisons are really useful.
Man, ARMS is doing great for a new IP, especially considering it didn't really seem to blow away the press.
I bet Splatoon 2 is gonna be a monster when we get those sales numbers.
PS4 - 7.5 million shipped by March 31st (146 days)
I mean 1st year for XB1 was respectable but then it started to slow down considerably.
Zedark said:Let's hedge our bets: How many units of Splatoon 2 is Nintendo going to ship during the next quarter (July-September)? I will place my bets on 3.5 million.
Everyone remember this is only the 'soft' launch. It'll be relaunched in October. Maybe with a "holy trinity" bumper bundle of Zelda, Kart & Mario (probably not but what a bundle that would be).
Yeah because WiiU and GC launching in the holiday season has sold an incredible amount of consoles, like the xbox one right? /s
You can argue even that switch was launched WW in every country when PS4 and xbox one had a different release windows for a lot of countries. Just stop using the holiday season as an excuse for the PS4 success.
It's really misleading to compare PS4 launch months to Switch's for 2 very large reasons.
1. PS4 launched in the holidays and the holidays retailers will buy more stock, this is why the Wii U launched and sold well during the holidays for instance. If Switch had launched in the holidays, Retailers would have ordered more Switch units, and Nintendo would have sold 4m+ in it's first month, even with the short supply, Switch would have started production earlier in the year to meet the higher demand of holiday orders, and the tech Switch uses comes from May 2015.
2. Both the PS4 and Switch were selling everything they were putting on shelves, so PS4 might have had even higher sales figures if they were producing enough, and Switch is obviously producing less than the demand of the market, which again would be even higher during the holiday season.
Hopefully will be better managed than the Wii on the long term, and hopefully 3rd parties will take it more seriously rather than doing shitty experiments like last time.
considering the launch date this is amazingIt looks like it's below the PS4 overall, but still a great pace.

i guess mk7 did bad too since it sold 21 million less than mkwii too
No one is making excuses for the PS4 but sales comparisons are made for comparable months and quarters. It's undeniable that every console sells better in the Holiday season, even for the Wii U.Yeah because WiiU and GC launching in the holiday season has sold an incredible amount of consoles, like the xbox one right? /s

Attach rates are just about the worst metric to measure the success of any console
The page says SOLD not SHIPPED.It's shipped. Probably not at a million yet

The page says SOLD not SHIPPED.
Like it exclusively calls out that word.
Surely those would say shipped if they were not actually sold through?

Is it? I thought the Xbox Division is doing well, because of great SW sales but is having a decline in HW sales.
Hardware is slowing down, and software sales aren't impressively up, suggesting that sales per user could very well be down. This doesn't sound like a very healthy ecosystem tbh.Software sales are up 11% but hardware revenue declined 29%
This figure may well have been higher, however, were it not partly offset by a decline in Xbox hardware revenue. This fell by 29 per cent year-on-year, mostly due to lower prices and a decline in the volume of consoles sold, Microsoft said.
Software sales, meanwhile, were up 11 per cent year-on-year thanks to a higher volume of Xbox Live transactions. Indeed, Microsoft reported that there are now 53m active users on Xbox Live as of Q4 FY17 from 52m in Q3 FY17. That said, it's still down on Q2 FY17's 55m active users.
Theres no PES so I am stuck to just getting fifa
Is the Switch number shipments or sales to consumers?
I may buy one after I get off this train as an impulse purchase. Quick, anyone know if the Japanese Zelda and Mario Kart games also have English or do I need to import off Amazon?
Edit: Disgaea and Fire Emblem too?
