It's cute that you think the performance will get better and not stay the same.

These type of popular early access steam games never leave alpha or beta. It will become a bloated mess until it dies just like all the others that have failed to fill the void. It's a trend at this point and people keep falling for it.

It will never be in a finished state, why would it be? it's making them money hand over fist.

Performance is constantly getting better, i wqs running 40-50 fps on ultra few months ago and now i'm consistently over 60. Also they have plqns to release the game in a year i think, or by the end of the year and it looks ike they are going to make it.

Well deserved. Performance is pretty damn good other than some random hiccups. I get around 90-100 on ultra settings (I keep shadows on the lowest for obvious reasons)

Oh trust me I would be the first to throw shade at early access with many titles that I've purchased either not making it out (DayZ) or just straight up being abandoned, but at this current stage I don't see PUBG being struck by either of those two issues.

Outside of vaulting the game is feature complete in the sense of gameplay mechanics. Performance will and continues to be improved so I can't see your argument for it never improving. At this stage those who are throwing shade at the game are doing so without much backing them up, and it comes across as childish. Crates haven't impacted the game negatively like many doomsday echoed and the game continues to grow and expand.

At the end of the day it's your money and you are entitled to your opinions. I've gotten nearly 200 hours out of this game that I spent $30 on so for me it's done it's job and continues to keep me entertained. I'm keen for new weapons and maps but outside of those I'm quite content with the gameplay loop PUBG has to offer.

Have you played it? It's been receiving substantial updates and performance has improved considerably, and I mean considerably. When I first started playing I thought I'd finally need to upgrade my aging PC, but now it's running well at all times.

My manz have you played the game? This game is different from the typical early access garbage. Performance has improved tenfold since it hit EA.

I always thought their microtransaction options would be limited because of scavenge-for-gear nature of the gameplay. Glad to hear they managed to work something out. And also glad to see it isn't some low-key P2W shit because all the vanity gear just makes you an easier target.

So you think Star Citizen will be the best thing ever but you don't believe PUBG will leave alpha? Come on man, you're better than that.

Nice to see the salty PUBG hot-takes are getting saltier and hotter. I guess that comes with the territory though.

You're right, the game sold 7 million copies because it's trash...

DrDisrespect has played probably ~1000 hours of PUBG in the last few months alone. He forces himself to play 6-8 hours nearly everyday even though he's clearly burnt out. He's honestly been carrying on like a whiny little bitch lately with all his raging and moaning about how bad he thinks the game and devs are. Yet he keeps playing it...

The views mate, the vieeeeews.

Up close first person gunplay is plop bruv.

Please don't use sales as proof of quality.

Glad new game has come in and shook things up but it's still Manchester city in champs league out of 10

It happens on GAF every time a big PC only (even if only temporarily exclusive) game makes waves.

I happened with DotA and league of legends. I remember all the PC gaming number threads that ended up with 'MOBAS don't count'

It happened when CSGO came surging back.
It's like a clockwork.

I get console people not understanding the PC space, but a Star Citizen backer shitting on "early access steam games" is some next level shit.

As it stands, it's also one of the fastest ones to have you start the game up again.
It could be faster though. Just let me queue back in right from the kill screen, that would already be nice.

Who cares about the title, or "art" in a battle royale game as long as they're having fun.
Me, actually. It's a dumb name but we are probably stuck with it.
And I would definitely prefer if it looked better.

It has to be on a console before it can be considered a real game.
Yeh, because no console owner considers World of Warcraft or Dota to be real game. The persecution complex is as annoying as the people shitting on the game needlessly.

Not hard to ignore the idiots, there's an abundance of people in the thread eagerly anticipating the console release. No need to shit on them because one person said the game was bad.

I saw the trailer during E3 like everybody else but i still have no idea what makes this so great. It's obviously very popular now but can someone summarize what makes this game so great and why i should look forward to it? :)

You sure? I've heard arguments from console gaf to just not count MOBAs and MMOs to PC numbers for years.

Yeh I've heard arguments that discount console games from PC fans. The main point was not paying mind to the idiots on either side.

You also, for some reason, chose to ignore the part where I said that people on consoles consider Dota and WoW to be games in general, not that every single person with a console holds that opinion in totality. Not quite sure how you could mistake that.

It will definitely help Xbox One / One X sales, it takes a pretty beefy PC to have it running well.

Depends, I know it needed a beefy PC a few patches ago but the last few patches has significantly improved performance. I pretty much get a constant 80+ fps with a 5+ years old i5 and a 970. Heard people having ok performance on laptops even.

I'm not saying everyone thinks stupid shit like that. I just don't understand why we should take shitposts like those from consolegaf and just not respond and try to correct their wrong assumptions, it's been a constant for years on gaf to get these posters in every PC game thread and it won't stop just because we let them be idiots on their own and let them continue smearing shit all over the place.

Don't watch trailers. Watch streams on twitch. Usually one of the top streamers (minus DrDisrespect) will be good at the game. It's important to watch someone good because they have the best chance of reaching the endgame when it's super tense

Intense TPS / FPS (you can now queue into one you prefer) game that promotes players skill and tactical thinking in order to survive and (hopefully) be last man standing in 100 player rounds. You jump from the plane without any weapons or armor, land and then dash along your competitors to find some gear and try survive...

Rounds are ~30min in all team sizes (1, 2, 3-4) making it very good game for having just those bite sized sessions if you want.

Trailer they showed in E3 was very bombastic and action packed, but it isn't 100% accurate representation of how matches are even when they can get as hectic as shown in trailer. Game speed and style is somewhere between ArmA and BF/COD games.

I'll do that :) thanks!

Ok that does sound very interesting then. I'll be watching this.

The game needs a lot more work, I'm not denying that. It's still fun as fuck and plenty of people are enjoying the shit out of it as janky as it is and it will only improve.

I predict this game will sell 7 million + on Xbox One.

Eh. I'm not convinced.

It will probably do well, but I have my doubts about whether the nature of the game will change. As others have noted, this game relies on very long engagement distances, not something that I think works well with controllers. I also have questions as to whether the consoles will cull player models and world objects at closer distances.

The concept is great, but there are many reasons i despise it so much.

-fact it's such a mess performance wise and will never get better (but the devs keep pretending it will to sell more and more copies, optimisation would have been fixed and done by now if they could do it, fact is UE4 is just NOT GOOD at open world multiplayer at this scale and never will be. it will always have serious performance issues, And people with expensive computers will always be playing it on underwhelming settings, making it look ugly.

The fuck? Pretty much every single thing you wrote here is just wrong. You also show your complete lack of understanding of game development (or any programming for that matter)

optimisation would have been fixed and done by now if they could do it
LoL, Optimisations is not a switch you just toggle and go "done".

People don't play it on low settings to make it run better, competitive players run games on low settings to see better, that has always been the case and will always be the case. (see quake, UT, CS, Starcraft 2 etc.) Thats irrelevant to any optimisations or system requirements.

-it's the bunch of really poor, lazy design decisions, like dumping all the players in the waiting lobby all bunched together when they could be separated and spread out which would totally help performance instead of your first taste being this laggy fuckfest.

-the art sucks, environments blow, character designs shoddy. It's all totally playing it safe and there's nothing creative going on here, just cut and paste generic bullshit. I mean i get it, and look how many copies it sold. but it's shit from a creative standpoint, the menu music is crappy too.

The last bit here is 100% subjective so not really much to comment on, except that the environments look great, the lobby is irrelevant but is actually the best example of where their optimisations have had a huge effect on how well the game runs. On launch i would rarely get over 20-30 fps in a full lobby, now i easily get 50-60 and its very playable with 100 people on that island, the only thing not keeping up is network traffic and the sound engine.

The fact that you are getting so upset about people stating things they've seen uttered by console fanboys and your "oh yeah, well I've seen PC GAF say......" really show that you're the one with the persecution complex.

Get over yourself.

Fuck it.

Will find out just how good this game is tonight I guess.

I really do like the concept and it should be a lot more tense and interesting with first person servers.

It's cute that you made this post without realizing at some point that it's the single worst post in this entire thread.
You don't know what you're talking about. You hardly even know what PUBG is. You don't know the kind of progress Bluehole has made. You don't know how close this thing actually is to being release-ready. I can glean all of this just from your insistence that PUBG is simply an extension of the 'early access trend' and that it will never be finished despite being brought closer to a finished state, in a shorter amount of time, than any of its contemporaries.

So why on Earth you think you're qualified to offer up your opinion on the matter, when the fact that you don't know what you're talking about is clear to everyone in here who actually does? Go sit at the kiddy table, man.

I've been hooked on this game for the last 3 weeks. I don't enjoy it that much in solo, but as soon as I bring in a buddy or 2, the entertainment is nonstop.

Are first person servers really that good? I really enjoy looking at my character's clothes. :C

I guess I'll try one of them tonight. They're NA only, though, right? I guess I'll have to deal with the high ping.

Should be available on any server.

EDIT: just checked, it's only available on NA, EU, and AS :(

The main difference (as I understand it) is in how people are forced to play. In 3rd person, you can comfortably hide behind the corner of a house or a wall and see someone running while they couldn't see you. The advantage goes to you, since you can see them but they can't (possibly) see you.

In first person servers, you can only see what your head sees so in order to see what's beyond a wall that's blocking your vision, you have to move away from said wall. So if you can see someone, they can also see you.

I think first person servers would be more fair whilst encouraging people to move around which keeps a faster pace. So I plan to play first person exclusively.
