No tourney of harenhall flash back is very disappointing.

It almost makes too much sense for it to have been done. Introduce Rhaegar, build him up as a virtuous Prince. The mad king's craziness and insults of jaimje/Tywin. Scenes with young Howland and the last generation of stark siblings. Elia Martell and young selmy.
They could it next season. In fact I would bet on it.

That would have been incredible! They cast half the actors for it already. It could have been done. That's the problem with the 7 episode season. No time for exposition, only action scenes and witty one liners. Oh what could have been..

Why are people suddenly discussing this? Just because Jon and Dany are together?
Well yea...everyone knows Jon is Azor Ahai. Dany being Nissa Nisa would make sense.
a huge army in the south sure would be useful, too bad no one remembers Dorne

I'm so tired of hearing jokes about the Unsullied, Varys, and and Theon not having cocks...like seriously it's like all of the joke dialogue on this show involves cocks.

Has GRRM ever gone back and told the story of Robert's Rebellion in detail in any of the books or companion books (like the history book)? Atleast more so than the show has?

That story alone seems so compelling and I wish they had delved into it more than just the tower of joy scenes. I really hope it's part of one of the spinoff shows.

Also, has Howlend Reed appeared on the show ever aside from flashbacks? Has he ever been shown in present day?

You can find a lot of details here: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Robert's_Rebellion

I don't remember if it was in World of Ice and Fire or this is all pulled from different parts of the series.

We have a thread with a lot of spinoff/successor show discussion. Note that Robert's Rebellion and Dunk & Egg are off the table.

I seriously doubt the show will mention this again.

I also doubt the release of any future books.

So, this is one more thread that will forever be unanswered, giving those with the time and motivation something to puzzle over.

correct about everything
how about royce being cool with sansa outing littlefinger pushing lysa out of the moon door when she was the one who lied in the first place about what happened to her?

and continued to lie even after she became the lady of winterfell and her brother became the king in the north.

It's not like she even liked Lysa. Lysa went batshit and wanted to kill her. There's little Reason to tell Royce unless she wants to fuck Petyr over. Which she did eventually. By telling him and everyone else very publicly.

there is no reason to think royce would have given much of a fuck if lysa had killed sansa. there is every reason to think he should be concerned about a person who covered up the murder of his former ruler, and the mother of his current one.

but of course the show continues to pretend that robin doesn't exist.

Royce would be elated to get Robin out of Petyrs clutches.
Besides, it's hardly logical to start being pissy and loud about Sansa covering it up, when he's on the heart of the north surrounded by northmen loyal to Sansa. He can do that privately and count himself lucky that neither Petyr nor Sansa have any claim to the Vale.

I mean, D n D fuck up, no doubt about it, this just seems like minutiae.

I don't think it's dead set that Jon is Azor Ahai. It could still be a combination of people who fulfil the prophesy and parts of it could be taken figuratively. By turning his back on Ygritte, he essentially killed her. That may be the sacrifice of his love.

The legend states that Azor Ahai thrust a sword into a woman, and pulled out the fiery Lightbringer.

Hmm, now what did Jon THRUST into a woman associated with fire...

Thrusting a sword = inpregnating her?

Maybe their baby is the Lightbringer ; the one that mounts the world.

it's just one example of the show not caring about any consequences. based on everything we know, robin liked and trusted littlefinger, at least more than he did royce. now how do you suppose it's going to go when he and rest of the lords of the vale find out that not only did littefinger murder his mom, but the current lady of winterfell helped him to get away with it? answer is of course it's not going to go any way, because the show is never going to acknowledge it.

I finally watched this most recent season, only started season 5 about a month ago. I didn't want book spoilers, but decided to just watch it anyway. Sounds like GRRM has different plans anyway.

Anyway, my main thoughts are that I doubt we'll end up with Jon, Dany and Tyrion teaming up in the books, feels too fanservicy. And I personally thought Arya killing all the Freys was one of the stupidest things to happen on the show. It was so glossed over, just felt too convenient. I hope her training leads to something else in the books, and that the Freys are taken out some other way.

Overall though, enjoyed the hell out of these past three seasons. The pacing got weird, but if nothing else the show stayed interesting. Kind of weird how things they skipped in previous seasons came back, but in the wrong order. Smart though.

Jaime is gonna choke Cersei and slam his sword trough her to kill the Greyjoy/Lannister in her belly.

He'll be Azor Ashaiing his way trough the night king soon after. Believe!

I do agree it's the sort of political world building Martin would've (will?) do much better. But I still think it's okay for the show To not spend time wrapping up a subplot that goes nowhere. Even if we'd go with your assumed consequences, there are several ways for it to wrap up nicely.

Probably a combination of:
1) Royce crediting Sansa for serving justice to Petyr.
2) Royce realizing that a metric fuckton of Wights heading their way is more Important currently
3) Robin quite liking Sansa too. Any attempt by his bannermen or Royce to implicate Sansa would be met with absolute disinterest from their liege lord.

But essentially I do agree with you somewhat. I just Think the show Is better for not getting bogged down with this particular thread.

Nah, it went nowhere. I'm pretty sure in the books she was just a "mysterious person from the east" as well, unless I forgot something.

In the books it is very likely that the plan was that Dany would sail further East instead and go around the world to get to Westeros. Unfortunately we'll never know since there won't be any more books.

YO. This could be very cool. Show us Asshai and Yi Ti along with whatever lies beyond the sunset sea. But damn that would take a lot longer than 2 books to wrap up lol. :(

Someone brought up something interesting, don't recall whether I read it here or on reddit. The story George wants to tell is the one 5 years on, after a timeskip. However he second guessed his original plan, which I believe was a huge mistake. The story he wants to tell takes place a while into the future.

Imagine the fuckeries picking up a boom after a 5 year time skip and reading a character had been killed but revived lol

Hey have some optimism. None of us thought Half-life 3 would ever see the light of the day but now we got a whole plot synopsis out, the full game will be released any day now!

GRRM has written a page long summary with instructions to be printed as his obituary.

Yes. Fires of the sacred temple are her womb. Sleepless laboring, hammer and tong, metaphors for sex and pregnancy. The first two failed attempts are miscarriages, one to Aurane Waters, second to Tyrion the lion. The end result is the weapon that will end the Long Night, the new Rhaego to sacrifice for a dragon.

xbxRmza.gif

Quaithe is annoying garbage.

Hey guy did you enjoy Cersei worrying about a prophecy for all of Feast well you are going to love Daenerys doing exactly the same thing in Dance.

And Quaithe's "prophecy" isn't even good or cryptic. One is a bunch of directions that make no sense, and Dany ain't going all the way to Asshai. Her second thing is just a list of characters we already know so Dany can worry ahead of time about meeting these people which she never does outside of laughing in stupid Quentyn Martell's face.

With 6 episodes left "ain't nobody got time for that"

I mean, speaking of the pacing, time, and pregnancy: how are they even going to handle Cersei next season? I know with the night at the lake we've already abandoned all attempts to justify characters teleporting, but this might be the first time in a while where there's theoretically a clear frame of reference for time passing.

Quaithe isn't telling a prophecy she's spying on people with the obsidian candles Maester Marwen tells Sam about at the end of AFFC.

That's why she is;

A) Able to appear to Dany in her room
B) Her "prophecy" includes people that actually aren't going to arrive in Slaver's Bay like fAegon, but at one point intended to. She can't actually see the future.
