Breaking: President Trump plans to end (DACA) program tomorrow

This has been brewing for a while, and IIRC, he was mulling over whether to nuke it all entirely (AKA everyone under it has to leave right now) or just let it lapse (what he's doing here)

Honest question, but when this fuckwad is out of office, does the next President just put all this stuff back?

To be eligible, illegal immigrants must have entered the United States before their 16th birthday and prior to June 2007, be currently in school, a high school graduate or be honorably discharged from the military, be under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012, and not have been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor or three other misdemeanors, or otherwise pose a threat to national security.

Yep, sounds like some real bad hombres. Choke on a taco salad bowl Trump.

800,000 people are under the DACA umbrella, btw.

So you know, just casually let a program that will end up in the deportation of 800,000 Americans lapse.

Assume you were shot off to Mexico out of the blue, you might know Spanish, you might not. This is what Dreamers are facing. Just your whole life being uprooted and thrown in the trash.

I feel bad for so many of them. Some don't even know their native languages or the places they're going to be sent to.

As for the people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as youths and now have work visas under Obama, Trump did not back off his pledge to end Obama's executive orders. But he made clear he would like to find some future accommodation for them. ”We're going to work something out that's going to make people happy and proud," he says, showing a sympathy for young migrants that was often absent during the campaign. ”They got brought here at a very young age, they've worked here, they've gone to school here. Some were good students. Some have wonderful jobs. And they're in never-never land because they don't know what's going to happen."

I guess he's clearing things up for them, what a nice guy!

More base pandering that will only further contribute to the brain drain in this country. The stipulations for being DACA eligible are such that we would want these folks to stick around.

So much for his promise in June.

It would be beneficial if the next executive didn't govern via an executive order. The reality is that DACA was always meant as a temporary band-aid to an bigger issue. The fact that we have an absolutely useless legislative branch in this country makes it nearly impossible to pass the type of legislation that would make DACA an actual law as opposed to an executive action. The next President going in and signing another DACA executive order just opens up the possibility of these same 10 states that are threatening to sue will to go down the same route later as they find the method of its implementation to have been unconstitutional.

Realistically, the way to fix this is for the Congress to get off of its ass and enshrine the DACA program into law. The clock will not start to tick on whether that will actually happen or not.

I'm way further to the right on immigration than most on this board, but this is fucking inhumane. How you can punish children who were brought here by their parents, in many cases lived here since they can remember is sickening to me. Deporting dreamers would be like if I got deported to Mexico. A place I don't know and have never been.

Can people re-up their work visas?

Christ one of my friends said he would kill himself if they were going to deport him. I gotta make sure he's all right.

Fuck Trump.

Wasn't it just a couple months ago he said he was going to leave DACA alone?

I guess he needs a new outrage to cover up breaking Russia news shit and DACA is next on the block. Ugh. If the forum had emoji, I'd be spamming the angry one.

It's expected for him to announce this tomorrow.

If Fox are reporting this today, it was almost certainly back channeled.

This is the sort of shitty shit Trump wants people to know about, vs the sort of shitty shit he'd want to bury. This is him delivering on his campaign promises.

But like I said, fuck him.

He's going to shit on people who were brought here completely beyond their own control? Fuck him.

No, the work permit is the very essence of what DACA provided these people. Come out of the shadows and you'll be protected and allowed to work, etc. With DACA gone, the government literally has a database of over 800k immigrants they can start to fast track to deportation.

When this man was elected I felt so terrible because the American voters really let down a lot of people. It's bad enough for the poor and struggling that are doing their best to get by in all this, but these folks are getting uprooted from their lives and sent to a country where they might not know anyone or even speak the language.

These are not distractions. Trump can be a piece of shit on multiple levels at the same time as we can be aware of all the levels at the same time
