Will buy. This year has been crazy for ports of my favorite games: This, Wipeout and FF12... who needs new games?!

You could fast-forward through dialogue on the PS3 so I don't see why you couldn't here.

Not true. It behaved exactly like the PS2 version. You can skip/button-mash through the incidental conversations in the field, but anything cut scene-ish is not skippable.

I would like it to be a permanent part of my Steam library, and I'd be very interested in seeing if it can be modded into a 60 FPS game on PC (I had no hope of it being innately unlocked after the PS3 port. And being one of those PS2 games where it'd probably be a pesky thing to fix.)

Onimusha will never happen. The 3 games modeled the main character's faces after famous Japanese actors. Capcom no longer has the rights to those faces.

I'm sure Takashi Kaneshiro and Jean Reno cold be re-negotiated for cheap. They still sell Lost Planet on Steam and that's Lee Byung Hun, and he's a bigger name than Takashi Kaneshiro and Jean Reno combined.

One thing I'm kinda curious about... Will the PC version have a built-in downsampling slider? The PS3 version had 4K downsampling, it's totally possible.
No IGN watermark, no buy.
No IGN watermark? For shame...
Great box art, but will it come with the IGN logo?
Is it really a new version of Okami if it doesn't have an ign watermark 🤔

Why did I even try being subtle.

Ill stick with my Wii copy since i cant stand playing the game with analog sticks. Did they ever fix the ps3 version's Move controls?

remaking ps3 games make a lot iof sense from tech perspective. earlier gen are often 2d games at low resolutions

Hm, I bought Okami HD PS3 for $4.99 on a sale and never played, though I did play the PS2 version. I'll wait for the price to come down.

Got this on Wii way back when (the version that had the IGN watermark cover, props on Capcom for sending out beautiful replacement covers though). Definitely getting this on PC.

Did they renegotiate a contract with Lost Planet? That game was made long after Onimusha so maybe the contract hasn't expired yet. Also I heard one of the actors is dead. Not sure which but negotiating a dead actor's face would be really hard. For Capcom it would be cheaper to just port Dawn of Dreams. Capcom wouldn't go out of their to get the faces if they didn't plan to make a new game starring Samanosuke.

Finally. Will join the rest of the Capcom titles in my Steam library. Shame about 30 fps though.

Nice but with this announcement Capcom officially demonstrates that in this generation is not doing anything and is profiting from nostalgia, showing that before was much better than today.

Just look at this list. Shame.

PORTS:

Resident Evil HD Remaster
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil Revelations
Resident Evil Code Veronica X
Dead Rising
Dead Rising 2
The Disney Afternoon Collection
Marvel VS Capcom 3
Dragon's Dogma DA
DMC DE
Devil May Cry 4 SE
Ultra Street Fighter IV
Mega Man Legacy Collection
Mega Man Legacy Collection 2
Strider
Okami HD

NEXT-GEN TITLES:

SF V
MVC: I
Resident Evil 7
Monster Hunter World

Ports mitigates risk and help fund new titles. And DMC4SE was a substantial release that added lots of new gameplay and also story content. Call 4SE what you want, but I'd rather they experiment with new features and characters in it than in a sequel.

Also Strider was a new title. You're also missing Dead Rising 3, Dead Rising 4, Revelations 2, Monster Hunter X, Monster Hunter Stories, Dragon's Dogma Online, Ace Attorney 5 and 6, Dai Gyakuten Saiban 1 and 2, and Sanada Yukimura-den.

They used the likeness of actor Yusaku Matsuda for Jubei in Onimusha 2, but he had already been dead for 13 years by that point.

If games which were built for 30fps back then like REmake HD and RE4 became 60fps, I can totally see the same happening with this.

Keep in mind REmake HD was 30 on all consoles, but up to 60 on PC.

It would be literally the only modern Capcom game I can think of with a locked 30fps on PC.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Cheap is a relative term...this company cant afford to port NES Collections to Switch. I think they will rather port other stuff instead of going that Onimasha route...even though i would love it.

Also i dont know if the prerendered Onimusha 1+2 BGs would look to great without some more effort.

I'll wait for a sale on Steam. I've bought it 3 times already.

I wish Capcom would make some new games already. Their constant flow of ports is leading to diminishing returns for them. It feels like they're trapped in a cycle.

They have new games. This year there's RE7, MvC: I, Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2. There's also the Steam/PS4 versions of DR4, and the localized versions of Monster Hunter Stories.

And ports are making them money and boosting their financials by quite a bit. They probably help mitigate the risk of the big releases they do twice a year now.

HD re-release everything Capcom. Do it.

I kinda missed out on this back in the day so I'll give it a shot when it comes out. It's length always put me off to be fair.
