That depends. Do we know if he is diagnosed with a mental illness?

And it's not really a "defense". Nazism and racism are indefensible, but if his behaviour is a result of mental illness, can't you see how that changes the situation?

What if he has cancer? Do we know if he's diagnosed with terminal illness?

Damn, I'd feel bad punching a dying person.

no because there are plenty of mentally ill people that DON'T resort to Nazism

my friend teaches a special ed class

none of them are Nazis

What if hitler had a mental illness? He probably did, poor guy.

What an idiot.

What do you have other than your gut feeling to tell you this man has a mental illness?

"The more our adversaries believe they can obstruct our development by employing a degree of terror that is characteristic of their nature, the more they encourage it. Nietzsche said that a blow which does not kill a strong man only makes him stronger, and his words are confirmed a thousand times. Every blow strengthens our defiance, every persecution reinforces our single-minded determination, and the elements that do fall are good riddance to the movement.”

I'm sorry, is this a joke?

"Love is the only way to grasp another human being in the innermost core of his personality. No one can become fully aware of the very essence of another human being unless he loves him. By his love he is enabled to see the essential traits and features in the beloved person; and even more, he sees that which is potential in him, which is not yet actualized but yet ought to be actualized. Furthermore, by his love, the loving person enables the beloved person to actualize these potentialities. By making him aware of what he can be and of what he should become, he makes these potentialities come true."

-Viktor E Frankl

I wish it was as simple as just punching the problem away. Or putting a bullet in it. I do not condone acts of hate by choosing to not be violent, I condone those acts because of my indifference.

In general I strongly dislike vigilante justice, but there are times in which I really couldn't care less and even times in which I'm completely fine with it. This is certainly the latter case. Wearing a fucking nazi armband and being proud of it is an insult against everyone who fought against nazis and everyone who died by their hands. It's an insult against humankind.

I'm sure this guy's hatred won't go anywhere. I'm sure he'll go to his nazi forums and act as if he was a martyr. But he and other nazis will certainly think twice before displaying such idiocy in public again.

I'm fine with the punch, but I'm uncomfortable with the seemingly coordinated effort to achieve it.
I don't think there's any indication that the guy who punched him was part of the coordination. For all we know, he was just a guy who saw the nazi and punched him.

Not the first time I've seen a bigot laid out on the streets of Seattle, but I wish I could have seen this one in person, too.

What a fucking idiot. What the fuck did you think was gonna happen, dude? That crowd was turning into a mob. If he hadn't been laid out with that first punch, I fully expect things to have gotten far worse for him.

The mental gymnastics on display in this thread are flabbergasting. Unreal.

On a positive note, hell of a punch.

It's a strange time when people dislike punching fucking walking Nazis

These are what the WW2 games have been teaching us for years
to fight the nazis

and people are fucking up by defending the nazis

wow...

I can see this is pointless. I may as well argue with someone on the alt-right. I'm out.

People like you are normalizing Nazis. It´s normalized to a point where they actually are referred to as Alt-Right.

Have you ever tried conversing with a Nazi? They are as dumb as the day they are born, they don´t understand words and in case they do they don´t want to understand.

These people are not to be discussed or reasoned with. And dude, seriously. They are supporting an ideology with a history that you are probably more than aware of.

Sure, let´s hug them right?

What you are doing doesn´t put you on a high horse. It just makes you a coward, it makes you a coward because you don´t stand for anything, it makes you a coward because you always choose the easy way and comfy way out, the way out without any confrontation or effort required.

To be honest I'm a little disappointed Trump hasn't chimed in. What with all the racist shit on his feed I was expecting a "both sides tweet or one where he complains about someone's free speech right being trampled on by the "alt-left"

Seriously...Activision better put a pacifist mode in the new COD or they might lose out on sales 😂

You can skin the camel anyway you want, but at the end of the day, if you're going to deal with intolerance by being intolerant, you are on the way to becoming the new authoritarian intolerant evil.
"We have to destroy them before they destroy us" is a classic way to start a genocide historically.
Yeah, no ... that's some serious "there are bad people on both sides" nonsense. Historically genocide mainly came with totalitarianism. Fascism is the enemy and end of democracy, there's no room for being nice or tolerance. Do you really want to tell me the purge of Fascism equals genocide?

Well the thing is that when people think of Nazi they think of fearsome monster not a Zeon cosplayer taking the Subway.
When I think about mordent Nazi, I picture more neo Nazi Eastern European facist that fat Yankee.

Maybe this punch will make him think again his allegiance to a mass murdering entity.

Well the nights not actually over yet. I believe that we're only now approaching Trump"s usual tweet storm hour*

*which coincidentally is Moscow business hours.

Violence against nazis is always self-defense.

The thing a lot of people get wrong is that they see Nazism as an opinion. It isn't. It is an act of violence. Fascist speech is an act of violence. Wearing that armband is an act of violence. Because it gets people killed.

Like, I get it if you personally don't want to get physical against fascists. There are many reasons why one wouldn't. But stop the pearl clutching about people who are courageous enough to do so.

I don't know how to feel about this. I mean what if the nazi was holding down-back while having a fireball and an invincible flash kick, would gaf still think it was a good idea to attack him?!

Whoa now... are you trying to imply that Guile is a Nazi or did you mistype "scissor kick"? I'm honestly not even sure thst I'm comfortable with you calling M. Bison a Nazi, he's clearly just mentally ill.

with muslim people if the went about wearing isis flags, people would lose their shit but we all know why that is... this is in a way, the same concept

Thats exactly what all this is. Its cowardly. Not to mention that its also basically pissing on the graves of millions of the innocent dead.

John Kelly is probably burning holes through Trump's smartphone with a thousand yard stare.

What if did that to rile up people and push the world to take a stronger stance against racism and nazism.

I can play this game too:

Do we know if this is just a prank (gone sexual)?

Do we know if he's an alien pretending to be human and he only has old war footage to mimic human behaviour?

Do we know if he's being forced to do this by Jeremy Irons because he killed his brother during the Nakatomi Incident?

etc etc

I don't know but I have no reason (or indication) to believe that's the case so there's no point to be made.

nekkid

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.

Yeah, that's probably the case. And as I said, I'm absolutely fine with him punching him out. It's damned glorious.

But there seemed like a coordinated effort to physically attack this guy before it happened, and there also appeared to be a jubilant "we did it, guys" in that community afterwards. That's not cool.

I still can't get over the fact that in 2017, there are people walking around, riding the fucking bus wearing Nazi symbolism.

I feel like wolfenstein alternate timeline is no longer fiction!

You do realize that this basically says we need to kill them instead of just hurting them?

A Fish Aficionado

I am going to make it through this year if it kills me
Mental illness is such a terrible defense and it sucks for the rest of us with real mental health problems and stigma.

Someone who wears Nazi insignia in public and not on a film set, knows explicitly what it means. They wear it for a reason.

Fuck the people giving Nazis an out with some mental illness defense. I have family members who deal with real mental illness. You people should be knocked out too stigmatizing mental illness by basically equating it to being a Nazi. Fuck you.

Ah, the usual suspects defending violence in their heroic fight against neo-nazis. What a pathetic self-aggrandising narrative. Arrest and charge the guy throwing punches.
