Times are a changing (if you know what I mean).

I used to frequent a popular Aussie site, PALGN (now gone). It had an active community, but new owners turned the site to shit, and eventually the mods and main crew moved to a new site. It wasn't as successful and eventually the new forums shut down.

But this time, these new forums look to be already promising and much more active. Sad, but as with life, things change and we can move on.

Now, you know what? I don't know if you're guilty of anything. I don't know if what was said to happen happened, and honestly, even if it did, I don't know what signals were or weren't sent, or what level of miscommunication happened. So I don't particularly like that you were summarily executed by mob. My guess is you're full of shit... but I know that's just a guess. I know I have no idea. And I won't execute you for it, just like I wouldn't execute Naughty Dog, even though it was so much fun for people here to leap to ridiculous conclusions based on a single tweet.

But you know what? You fostered an environment that summarily executes with no evidence. So while I hate it, and I'll -always- be on the side of 'wait for more information' regardless of the topic, I can't say I can't see the sick humor of it all. Some people need to learn by example, and if you're truly innocent of all charges, then I hope next time someone gets accused of something you support the presumption of innocence. This is not saying I don't think horrible things happen all the time - they do... my wife has been sexually harassed at work and I know how hard it is to come forward and rock the boat.

If you're guilty, then I hope you learn. Evolve. Grow. Become a better person. Everyone can change, even though some swear no one can.

If you're innocent, then also learn. Evolve. Grow. The culture of 'no proof needed' you fostered is sick... it flies in the face of everything our collective cultures have learned and fought for over the past few millennia. You reaped what you sowed, and it's either ironic, or horrifying, based on your guilt... which I can never know.

I'll probably get banned for this post. I don't think I said anything worth being banned for. In fact, I think this is a pretty fair assessment of both your actions, the accusations against you, and the general culture of this site. If you ban me, fine. If you don't, I'll still be here, posting, because, honestly, I don't judge a community on a single individual member. Heck, I don't judge -you- based on actions of a previous you, because I know people change over time.

People learn. People grow. People evolve. Maybe you have, maybe you haven't. Now it's time for you to do so, and in the process, evolve this site so it doesn't become an echo chamber of toxicity against anything deemed toxic.

Is there a reason people are asking to be banned instead of just, um, not posting? It seems entitled to me! Like who even cares enough about you to click the ban button at your request? I must be missing something.

Exactly, people feel once they are gone... the place will never be the same but the reality of the internet is... people come and go. People with new passions, will replace the old ones.

It is a visible protest. Kind of hard to have an impact by just not logging in for a few weeks. People are upset that the owner of this site did nothing to quell their concerns.

What's the difference? No one was being held responsible before either because they never revealed who banned you. They were just there to scare the community and stop wrongthink whenever they entered a thread. Hell, people like Bishoptl were personalities with cult following, that system had all the bad qualities and none of the good ones. At least now they won't form cliques with other members.

I've had my ass pinched many a time through my jeans at nightclubs by drunk people and I'm a guy. Could have been guys or girls I don't know. It's really not that big a deal

It wasn’t a problem up until now for many though lol.

Some of the people knew about the revenge porn and ass grab yet stayed. I know they knew because they reference it in their posts but apparently the Facebook post was the last straw.

I don’t doubt that some people didn’t know. Any mention of it was dealt with swiftly. But some people were well aware.

The moderators deleting the very mentions of it for example...

Thanks, some of those names I can say wouldn't be my pick for moderators/admins but I'm not going to name any so please don't ask.

Oh well. Anyway, I think I'm getting too old for starting over but who knows. These days it just seems easier to visit the numerous sub-reddits to discuss various topics like gaming, movies, woodworking etc. than it is to try and do so on a general one-size fits all forum.

No now, you have no idea what the banning's about, who's banning you, or otherwise. And the mod can't do anything but ban because they have to stay anonymous. No warnings. No requests for calm. Zilch. Ban or not. And all you get is an e-mail inbox to pound hopelessly against.

Yeah, no difference.

The situation before called for MORE sunlight to be introduced, not even less. And you don't think the new system won't be abused all to hell?

Changed my email to my Gmail in Reset Era and found my account confirmation in the spam folder just like everybody else. Awesome! Thanks for the help guys!
