True. People keep saying they don’t release enough good games, while critics and reviews are clearly saying there’s negligible difference between xbox and playstation.
For people to praise PlayStations output and criticise xbox doesn’t make sense when you look at how good the games are on both consoles.

And some of the xbox games are rated lower on xbox than playstation. GTA5, for example, counts as 80+ on playstation but 79 on xbox, so I included that in PlayStations results but not Xbox’s.
The 2 consoles are more or less the same in Xbox’s worst year. What does that say about playstation?

I’ve no doubt they’ll release more games more often in the future, but if every year they bring out a roughly even number of great games as playstation manages then that’s not a bad thing.

The lack/consistency of Xbox First Party AAA games release schedule.

Third party games exist, and a third party multiplatform game just won game of the year.
If you only care about first party releases then you’re missing out on an awful lot. The fact is that Xbox owners have had roughly as many great games to play as playstation owners have in 2022.

Which would be a problem if third party multiplatform games didn’t exist, but they do. Because of that xbox has had a roughly even year in terms of game quality as playstation has had.
Games will be made when they are made, they shouldn’t be rushed or forced by the platform owner. Until they are released, we play the games that are available to us.
As shown in metacritic, the quality of new games available to xbox and playstation owners this year is roughly the same.

My point hasn’t changed throughout any of this - my point is that despite all the criticism, xbox has plenty of games for people to play. Well done playstation for getting 3 GOTY nominated games - that doesn’t take away from the games from this year available to be played on xbox, which as metacritic shows are roughly even in quality all things considered.
If you only care about first party games you absolutely are missing out on a lot, and it’s mad to think you don’t believe that.

Not showing something at the Game awards is the least of our concerns. They could have shown Hellblade 2 for the third time without a release date it would have been even way more embarassing. But they would have put a good show at least i guess lol. I prefer when they just shut up honestly, don't come until you got something tangible.

Sony already made it tough this year with their first party output. GT7, horizon 2 and GOW Ragnarok is a High bar to reach. Right now, Microsoft can't even reach a quarter of the way up to that bar. Actually, they didn't even jump at all this year.

I'm only disappointed because I was hoping there would have been a major first party release this spring. This announcement does not stop them from surprise announcing a release date, but it would be atypical of Xbox to at least let us know something is coming months in advance.

The problem with this statement/situation, other than the obvious, it puts so much pressure on thier studios to release absolute bangers. If hellblade, Redfall, Starfield etc are not masterpieces then MS is in trouble. They dont have the luxury of a destruction Allstars type game hell even what most think Forspoken will be.

I might be going out on a limb, but I feel like Starfield specifically will be a banger. Just hearing Sony tried getting exclusive before MS 1upd them and bought entire Pub. Then looking at Pedigree of biggest games (I ignore 76 as a quick cash grab). Altogether, yeah, I bet Xbox owners are in for a real treat.
