Thank you very much! Anything interesting in the last few hundred posts? lol

As far as UE4 goes... I highly *highly* doubt that the Wii U doesn't have the necessary feature set to run it. It just won't have the grunt to render it as well as Epic's multi-GPU PCs like that particle-filled picture above. Hell, neither will the other consoles - even Microsoft's.

Things will have to be pared-down, as they are with Crysis/Witcher 2's console port (for example) for all consoles. Moreso the Wii U. With that said, I highly doubt Epic will care to support it themselves. Ubisoft took the time to port UE2.5 to Wii (not Epic) and the same will probably be the case for any prospective UE4 titles on Wii U.

Hey, I'm guessing most of you all had Wii's; would it look better to play Wii games on a CRTV or a HDTV. Only reason I ask is I remember playing some older consoles on HDTV's, and I thought they didn't look as hot.

Wii games look better on non-HD sets.

I think some HDTVs can make the games look nice but many don't.

If Nintendo is really trying to recapture the core audience then it's not the way to go about doing so. They're going to have to get the UE4 engine working at least bare minimum on the Wii U so they can receive downports later on.

Thank you. I swear. Some of you think that nintendo can survive just buy living in their own bubble. Company wants to grow, not sit and huddle in a corner with its core user base which going by the GCN numbers is less than 25million and that's being generous.

Then there shouldn't be too much issue with either of them running UE4, whereas Wii U would still be up in the air. Pretty straightforward.

It's more perception than anything. Regardless, it's in Nintendo's best interest to get UE4 on the Wii U.
I think it's in the best interest of Sony to not jump on the expensive console wagon honestly

I think it will be bad for most, bar maybe MS, for hardware to have a push like last gen; and by most, I mean most gamers too; I don't want to see more mid tier devs [and their games] going away

Yes, TONS.

both Wii and Progressive enabled PS2 games look MUCH better using an component cable on an HD TV, particularly 720P TV

Sarcasm? I think it looks pretty great. All I said was that his face looked like a Locus arm shoulder-plate.
not really, there's an image of some avatar + zelda tech + UE4 image in a post above mine; that image looks like shit quality wise (something wrong with the compression maybe?)

Uh? Serious question? Don't you wanna know if the machine can at least run a stripped down version of UE4?
Why would he respond to BP calling him out?
On top of that, what exactly do you want him to say?
Tell you who his source is so you can contact them? He either heard what he heard or he didn't and is lying.
Doesn't matter either way. We wont get an answer until either Nintendo or Epic say something.

Nothing really. Just speculation and UE4 talk.

Their ips can only satisfy the fans for so long. Eventually we'll want more and if they have third party titles to balance this out then it won't be a problem, at least for me anyways.

Well, I have a 32" HDTV and 27" CRTV, so I was just trying to see which way made the game look more visually pleasing.

I'm kind of pissed now, because I can't find Metroid Prime Trilogy or SMG 1 and 2 though, and I'm pretty sure they were here. Might just be playing TP.

Say this: I trust my source and I stand by my original post. Just wanna see how much he trusts his source as I am in the camp that thinks the WiiU needs to run this engine in order to be sucessful.

Edit: Not trying to start a board war or anything if that's what you meant. Just wanted to know if he saw the post and remained adamant in the face of adverse speculations.

So, what do you think will be the term that the Gaming media will use to make fun of Nintendo next gen?

They can't use waggle anymore.

I think they will step up their use of "casual". It will be two generations where Nintendo has a "weak" system, with "toy" controller and "lame" aesthetics

Oh, I thought you meant the post with all the particle effects. That picture that I put on imgur and reposted, or at least the section with the UE 4 shot, does look like dogshit.

He'd already done that though. But as I said it doesn't matter. We wont really know until we hear one way or another.

obviously without a component cable, SD TV will be much better

yes, sorry, was too lazy to clear that after my edit, lol

For some reason, I think it will mostly not be in favor of Epic for Wii U not to support their engine.

Most important devs and publishers are running their own engines anyway, and I am pretty certain they are not going to put Wii U out of the question this time around.

By your estimate, how much is the GPU wattage gap (or whatever the appropriate metric is) between a GTX 680 and what the three next-gen consoles are likely targeting?

I'll let Epic answer that for you:

Epic said:
TIM SWEENEY: "There is a huge responsibility on the shoulders of our engine team and our studio to drag this industry into the next generation," said Gears of War design director Cliff Bleszinski. "It is up to Epic, and Tim Sweeney in particular, to motivate Sony and Microsoft not to phone in what these next consoles are going to be. It needs to be a quantum leap. They need to damn near render Avatar in real time, because I want it and gamers want it - even if they don't know they want it."

Sweeney added: "We're much more in sync with the console makers than any other developer is. That means we can give detailed recommendations with a complete understanding of what is going to be commercially possible."

Apparently Epic has seen the specs of the PS4 and next Xbox and is "actively lobbying" for them to be more powerful.

Agreed. They can make Mario Galaxy 3D on 3DS. I think the linear style works better on a portable (3D Land felt a lot like a Galaxy game without planetoids).

Gimme Mario 64 2 or Sunshine 2 on Wii U.

I agree. I enjoyed both Galaxy games. But I want to be able to have a big environment to run around it without falling off, like Isle Del Fino.

If it's anything like with the Wii, NSMB Mii and the next 3D Mario game will be two different games. Why do you think they would do such a thing? They tend to go all out with their 3D Mario games, so reusing art and assets from a shitty sidescroller won't do them much good.

2D Mario vastly outsells 3D Mario. Notice how 3DLand has a lot of 2D-eque elements? It's selling pretty damn good for a 3D Mario game. I wouldn't be surprised if the next 3D Mario continues this and becomes an even greater 2D-3D bridge game. Carrying over the NSMB artstyle doesn't seem out of the question. I don't doubt they'll be two completely different games. I'm merely speculating that the next 3D Mario might have a lot of 2D elements and could carry the NSMB artstyle.

Eh I honestly doubt it, but we'll see. Don't think they would do such a thing for their first 3D Mario game in HD.

So you're saying that after releasing two of the most successful gaming machines of all-time and its' fatest selling console of all time Nintendo's core user base has somehow shrunk?

Bear in mind chums, that the actual quote is 'Next Gen Consoles'

I still don't get why people are worried about the power aspect. We haven't even heard anything official, but all the rumors are pointing to the Nextbox/PS4 not being that big a step anyway, so what's the problem?

Ok. This is another thing that needs to stop. Please tell me that this was an intentional hyberbole. You may not have liked the games but they were in no way, shape, or form awful games. I mean really!
He was being sarcastic. Galaxy 1/2 are phenomenal but definitely a different flavor vs. SM64

'major' graphical upgrade is the most feature of next gen by 74% of gamers, of all of them

Yep. I am saying that the overwhelming majority of people who purchased the Wii were casuals or people who got caught up in the fad of motion controls and got bored almost just as quickly. Don't count on their support again. The Wii was lighting in a bottle.

The handheld market is a different story and nintendo will continue to dominate that arena.

I was being sarcastic

They are my favourite games by far this gen, and some o the best ever made in the history of this medium.
