Gran Turismo 5 Spec II |OT| - We Love DLC!

I see, however I can't verify anything so that is my problem now.

I can only recall the Tsukuba seasonal fron the 2nd batch (where Mazda RX7 was mandatory with both HP/kg restrictions) which absolutelly seemed impossible by every mean (without assists I must highlight).

While 2 aliens from my community managed to find a tuning-setup that won them the race, rest of us suffered for days and days. After probably a hundred re-runs I finally won it in a last day before replacement.

Needless to say I mastered Tsukuba beyond every mean imaginable.

There have to be a car/tuning/PP combo that allows the win with Mazdas infront. Finding the right tool seems like the greatest challenge for that particular race. Wish you best!

2nd place, 5 seconds behind on my first try. Definitely doable. I had a crappy tune and a bad drive. With the right car and tune it is definitely possible.

So, it's now been a month since Kaz has posted a twitter message. It seems like he goes quiet when they're working toward a big upcoming goal (crunch time!). Major DLC or new game announcement incoming?

He just started tweeting again, and guess what?

"う。RT @newsportsx: @Kaz_Yamauchi 最近アプデが小規模になったりDLCに車両が無かったりするのは6に本腰を入れているからですか?"

@Newsportsx: that recent updates have become small or that there aren’t cars on DLCs, is this because you’re putting hard efforts on [GT] 6?
@Kaz_Yamauchi: Yep.

It doesn't necessarily mean that it's a PS3 game. PD would be one of the first teams to receive PS4 kits, so they'd already be working on it if GT6 is for that platform. I think that we'll see it at gamescom or TGS if it's for the PS3. If it isn't unveiled at those shows then that should mean that it has a high chance of being a PS4 game.

Ofcourse we are. Late 2013 early 2014 shortly before PS4 releases.
I hope that if that's the case, this doesn't mean we have to wait too much for a new GT on PS4.

Also, I'm curious to see how they'll handle shadows and alpha channel effects this time.

Doubt you're gonna see any big differences in that regard. What you will see however, is a shit load of tracks. Most, if not all, the tracks which logos got uploaded to Gran-Turismo.com + Silverstone.

fucking silverstone, it's a terrible circuit, polyphony better have cadwell and oulton park to cover the shitness.

that isle of man youtube video i made for kaz's twitter has had 7 hits from Japan... BELIEVE!!! TT IN GT6!!!

If Sony really is going for something other than the cell, they are redoing their whole game engine from scratch. It's going to take them a while to release it. All those awesome effects that used the cell? Will have to be programmed on a different architecture. Some might be dropped (or added) depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the hardware.

Yep. I wonder if Sony will try to make it a PS4 release window game. To get an initial boost of sales. I just hope they don't hamstring PD again with too stringent deadlines.

are all of the new tracks good?

well, not new but, newest DLC tracks lol

tempted to pick up most if not all of the DLC I haven't tried yet

9 hours of 24H LMS left.

I started the race in June...I really hate having my game locked down due to it, but all I need is this and Nurgburging 24H and I'll have gold in everything.

I know that feeling, I always break and just quit and play the seasonals though :( I really need to get those endurance races done.

Spa and Kart Space (Track Pack 1) are Godlike.
SSRX has some pretty amazing lighting, but it's just a test track (a very big oval).
Motegi is ok.

Speaking of Tracks... the Top Gear track needs an update to be fully "open" and not have stupid invisible walls everywhere.

EA's HQ:

CEO: "If we don't license the Porsche license to Polyphony, the fans will instead buy our iPad game with nice visuals, ridiculous gameplay and wonky physics"
Boardroom: *standing ovation"

What is sad is that is exactly like that.

I hope GT6 is a ps4 game as i want a brand new GT game right away at the start of next gen like how gt3 was for ps2.

By the way is it me or has gtplanet completely nose dived as a gt community. Half the time it's filled with folks who hate and moan about everything gt and yet spend every single waking hour on the site. It's truly mystifying. People putting down kaz and gt every single time and some of them have not even played gt5 yet!

spa is pretty cool, the kart track is pretty cool too

really fun to just take cars out for a spin on the tracks, though I wish there were races for them, are there seasonal events or something for all of the DLC tracks?

Very complex situation there. Jordan and moderators made a great step with liberalization of GTP, allowing new members creating threads, allowing of non-constructive crticism and not being extremely srtict in merging threads or forcing re-appering issues into already existing topics.

On the other hand, game as GT5 have extremely long legs and every months you have new players coming and opening debates on topics that were beaten to death months and years ago.

Of course, there is everlasting army of crusaders that act like their holy mission is to convert everybody into their religion of crapping over GTP.

Scaff, Famine and Daan are trying their best to save the daily parts of main GT5 forum, while greater peace is found on another sub-forums or less exposed parts of community.

Few days ago a new, Gran Turismo 6 forum has opened. IMO that is where the party is these days. Sit back, relax, read and enjoy. GTP will never be a calm and sane place as it was in 2006 for instance, but it is internet.

Some updates to GTP are incoming, but I guess Jordan will talk about them when the times come. If he ever gets his account approved here on NeoGaf he will probably gladly answer about past, present and future of GTP.

GTP goes through swings like anywhere else. When GT4 was released it was awesome, then I think it got a bit groupthinky (it's a word!) and seems to be just a regular forum now, which I actually like.

It's going to be very interesting watching the development of GT6, regardless of the platform that it's on. It seems like the closed off Polyphony of old is pretty much dead. Kaz has said that they'll be working with the other Sony studios to help with their development. They're also obviously listening to fan feedback a lot more now.

If it does turn out to be a PS3 game then I expect the performance to be helped out a decent amount through working with those other teams. Dropping 4xMSAA will likely be one of the first things that happens with it. GT5 is still one of the very few PS3 games that even uses that form of AA. The system apparently doesn't work too well with that. This is what Bizarre said about using 4xMSAA on the PS3

As for 4x MSAA on PS3, this simply wasn't doable because of the additional memory requirements. A back buffer of 1280x720x4AA with depth buffer is nearly 30MB on PS3, whereas this is around 7MB on 360 because the multi samples are only ever used in EDRAM and combined as you copy to main memory, so AA doesn't require any additional memory. We simply couldn't afford such a large memory discrepancy between the PS3 and 360 versions because other systems all had tight budgets.

I imagine for PS3 exclusive games such as GT5 you can budget specifically for things like this, but with a multi-platform project such as Blur this simply wasn't possible.

I expect the major differences to be in the actual game design. I think that the old GT Mode will be dead from here on given that many feel that the current model is stale.

God, I really do hope that GT6 is slated for the PS4. GT5 is a massive game that can be played for a very long time. No need for another game on the same platform.

I just want that feeling again..you know, a new GT game on new tech hardware..sends shivers down my spine!

Same. I really do not want GT5.5. I want something like GT3 and GT1. You see at it and it just takes your breath away.

24 Heures du Mans est fait.

Now I need to grind two levels to tackle 24 Hours of Nurburgring and every gold shall finally be mine.

P.S. It makes me sad GT5's thread isn't as lively as Forza's :\

What's everyone up to in-game?

I haven't played GT5 in a while since building my new PC, but the GT community was extremely active until earlier this year. GT doesn't have DLC on a periodic basis, so news are scarce. But you'll find content about the game in various threads besides this one, like the photo thread, the GT Academy one recently and the NRL. There is still a NRL race scheduled for next weekend btw if you wish to participate ;).

And people say that Kaz doesn't listen to what fans are saying

http://andriasang.com/con27x/gt6_release_date/

:(

Nice to see that he finally understand! he failed his GT5 release dates for 3 whole years and in many times between that he said it was going to be released soon or in some particular year.
I hated him very much for that and left the impression that he didnt even knew what was happening with his own game and schedule.

What else he said? specially about the DLC, they have been a mixed bag to me, from totally awesome like the SPA/Kart track to bad as the racing versions of cars we had. Im hopping for another track, maybe a returning fictional one from past games.

More like 5.0 c-spec if you ask me. A GT6 on PS3 would only correct the flaws found on GT5. We would get things like leaderboards and lobby race events, but not much.

It needs to be on PS4, because i want to play it in 2014-2015 this franchise with more hardware power. PD lost two years of development on the GT HD nonsense, changed it´s tech for moddelling and as a result we had a game that it was good but not "revolutionary uber game" like GT1 and GT3.

I feel like GT5 is actually 6 because Prologue this time was really a whole game, that we ended up playing more than GT5. To me Prologue was like GT3, and 5 was like GT4 (more of the same, completion of early iteration).

Hell no we don´t need another one on PS3, with 7 year old tech.

Hopefully they will take their time, hopefully they will use laser scans for tracks to save them some time and we will be playing a good GT6 in christimas of 2014.
