Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of The Patriots 2.0 |OT| Kept you waiting, huh?

so I'm trying to get the face camos that require you to ram otacon and sonny but when i do ram them nothing appears on the unlock screen. I hit them both when they were standing up. I'm not sure what went wrong.

Go into the storage and take the items but do not jump down yet! If you want, you can go back to the heliport and collect the Chaff Grenades which will have respawned. If you want to try do this again to collect a large amount of Chaff Grenades you can. With 20+ you'll be set for almost all of Act 4 with the Big Boss emblem. If you want to get 40+ you'll be able to use Chaff Grenades when you desire on almost all playthroughs with little reprecussion (this is even more notable after you get the Bandana next playthrough). Regardless of how much much you collect it's time to fight the boss

WHERE DAMNIT!!?!??!?

I went from the sniping area back to the helipad and its not coming back. aaaahhh.

I printed out a 100+ page The One Who Knocks trophy tome.

Make sure you hear the telltale OctoCamo morph sound effect when you ram them; that confirms that you've got the FaceCamo.

I just started mucking around with the Metal Gear Mk2. I don't think I ever used it much in any of my prior playthroughs. I never noticed that Snake holds a Sixaxis to control the Mk2. I also noticed that you can make the mk 2 walk gently up stairs if you hold the analog slightly and hold the triangle button. He usually frantically hops up them, but if you time it just right you can make him walk normally up stairs (like a little person lol). A little thing, but this game is chocked full of em.

It's also great to watch waves and waves of enemies die, and then have the Mk2 just sweep up all their weapons.

unfortunatly, it's not on there.

I had the same problem when trying to bump into Campbell... Then I realized this was in the Act I briefing and I didn't even have the FaceCamo mask yet!

Are you trying to do this during the Act I/Act II briefings when maybe you haven't gotten the mask yet?

yup, I guess that would do it. I forgot all about that, thanks everyone!

I went through most of Act 1 without any care, dang it feels good to sneak around the battlefield. I will start a new game though, my bro is still on holidays and I'll play it with him when he gets back.

They should be in the centre of the Helipad. It was listed on the Metal Gear Solid 4 Wikia so I presumed it was correct. If not, just move on. It's not any significant problem but if it worked it would have been hugely helpful. I'll load up a save in Act 4 now and check.

Anyway, just back from my holidays so it's time to start up Metal Gear Solid 4 (again)! I don't think I've been this hyped to play a four year old game without any significant changes than I am now.

DonaldBubbins...wow. That is incredibly impressive. Suddenly, millions of trees cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. Just make sure you've an additional page in the back or something to note any changes to the guide as I manage to replay the game.

Some of the L1 functions when you get to Naomi's lab are hilarious, after your psych drops from hearing the bad news, just look at her tits to restore it!

Can I get the vomit flashback in Act 5? I wanna get a no kills playthrough, but I don't replay all those acts for one flashback if I don't have to.

Why does it matter when you do it if you're not going to continue from that without loading a clean kill save?

Hmm. I'm not certain if there is enough enemies that respawn in that area to get it. I would say it is possible, with the beginning (I think the enemies here respawn. If they do you definitely can get it in Act 5). I would highly advise you to try it. The worst thing that can happen is that you don't get it and you've wasted 30 minutes (or less depending on how efficiently you can kill them).

EDIT: Actually yes, StuBurns raises a very valid point. If you kill them all and get the flashback you'll get the trophy but the second you exit the game to the menu and reload your save the flashback will be listed as not gained. Be aware that these flashbacks may not even be needed for the trophy, I've only listed them to be absolutely certain. Until somebody can confirm what flashbacks are needed this might not even be an issue.

EDIT:

I've just ran from the heliport (collected the Chaff Grenades) to the Snowfield and ran back and the Chaff Grenades had indeed respawned. I then collected the Chaff Grenades that reappeared and went back to the Heliport again and, once again, the Chaff Grenades respawned so it looks like that does respawn the Chaff Grenades as claimed.

EDIT:
Do we know if viewing the Flashbacks count across saves yet?

I too am doing a stealth no kill playthrough first, so being able to get that one flashback on a new save where I can run round killing whoever would be good instead of having to watch everything again.

Or would it be best saving at a certain point in the last couple chapters and then returning to that point and running through everything quickly while killing everyone?

Not yet I'm afraid. The best thing I could advise you to do is what Desmond intended to do combined with the last question you've asked. Make a save at the start of Act 5 and then finish the game normally. If you don't get Flashback Mania go back and reload the save and then get the kills required for "You enjoy all that killing, that's why!" and finish the game as normal. Note that this will still require you to watch the 20 minute (or more) cutscene at the end of the game.

Amazed such small changes have made me have so much fun with this game all over again. Really brilliant how many small things they put into it. I always wanted to return, but the installs just put me off so I never did. Now the trophies give me an excuse to muck around and it is just so darn good.

If I'm going to do a no alert, no kill playthrough first, can I just play it on the easiest difficulty and still get the required emblems/trophies okay?

I do hope MGS5 has less emphasis on camo. Not particularly a fan of having to crawl around everywhere, I miss the MGS2-style stealth gameplay, which wasn't about hiding in plain sight 90% of the time.

Yeah, I've been re-playing the series leading up to the patch (finished MGS3 the day before it landed, it's like Kojima knew :p) and after doing them all back-to-back I definitely noticed how MGS2 felt 'purer' than the later games. In 2 you were given these smallish rooms, full of stuff to hide behind, and had a radar to see all the enemies. The emphasis was on manipulating guard patrol routes, causing distractions, and moving quickly. In 3 and 4, you're dropped in these big, open areas, have no idea where anyone is, so pretty much just have to put on camo and crawl slowly along the ground and hope for the best.

The gameplay in MGS3/4 is still great, but I definitely preferred MGS2. VR Missions in that game are the best stealth gameplay the series has had.

I'm playing 4th time and i still discover many new things or should i say details.

So far Act 3 is my favorite. So many ways to complete that stealth mission (- later rail shooter).

Yeah I always thought it was just me who thought this. Also When you get an alert in mgs3/4, I always just kinda think meh, its not important. Ill just shoot this guy in the head and the 4 which come running round the corner and ill be safe. It just doesnt feel as satisfying compared to mgs 1 and 2.

I also miss going up behind every person and doing the freeze thing. i barely ever felt the need to do this in 3 and 4. It feels really badass and necessary to clear a level in mgs 2 as efficiently as possible.

What I want is sort of the linearity of MGS 2 but the different multiple ways of getting passed a place like in mgs3/4. I think deus ex human revolution recently handled this perfectly - really satisfying stealth.

How do you beat Mantis non-lethally? I'm using the Mantis doll because the Sorrow doll doesn't do anything, but it's taking out stamina and life at the same time. What do i do?

That depends, what emblems are you talking about? Do you mean Pidgeon (kill no enemies) and Octopus (no alerts)? If you mean those two then yes you can still get those emblems by finishing the game on Easy mode.

rvy, You have to use the Mantis Doll. The statue can be found where you entered the room originally. It's odd that they phrased the trophy as they did since you must beat her non-lethally (it never counts as a kill).

@Stu, I intend to get a no kills playthrough, then I'm going to load up a playthrough for the Flashbacks. I'm just wondering if I can continue my non lethal playthrough, getting all the other flashbacks, then get the Vomit one in Act 5, as opposed to loading up the Second Act, and going through Acts 3 and 4, you know?

@TheOneWhoKnocks. I'll give it a shot. There's quite a few in the BB Battle too, If I remember.

It counts, there is only one way to beat him.

EDIT: As for the 'vomit flashback', I seriously doubt it actually counts as one of the flashbacks for that trophy. It's like the crop circle thing.

Supposedly the flashbacks stack? Some lad's said on PS3T.org that he got the trophy during Act Two of his second playthrough

I can't take Johnny seriously. I mean, I've been watching and hearing about this guy's bowel movements for the past 2 games. Now I'm supposed to believe he's this badass taking out FROGS.

Imagine how badass he'd be with the Nanos? I would not mind a game with him. He was handsome.

The Mr and Mrs Smith thing is the low point of the game certainly.

Um, the trophy guide that The One Who Knocks posted is only a few posts long. How in the hell does that amount to 100+ pages?

Well, it's roughly 20,000 words (close to 110,000 characters) and on Microsoft Word Starter it lists as 44 A4 pages with the default settings so I imagine Desmond is correct in that the formatting was vastly improved. The Weapons List from the MGS Wiki or PS3Trophy roadmap was probably added instead of the link and all ghost locations were probably added (I tried to do that but it would have taken an additional post so I imagine that added an extra few pages) too.

He wasn't supposed to be taken seriously, he's joke character and was a decent way of showing how a, comparatively, normal person would react in the same environment.

Brought a smile to my face when I found out who he was, glad they put him in.

He's kind of goofy but he's been doing the whole mercenary thing for years and has been able to keep up, sort of, without nanomachines so he had to have had some skill.

Johnny stopped being a joke character when he took the balaclava off.
It's just unfortunate that you put this guy in the shittiest situations possible, no pun intended, throughout the whole game and then expect people to believe that he's no longer a joke character, because he does some nice looking stuff during a cutscene.

Microwave scene is really well done. Except for the dual-screen thing.

Not really, he did well in the gun fight at the end but that's about it. He still had the whole pushover thing going as well as the goofiness (like him and Mei Ling's butt during her briefing).

I'd love to see that document, too. Although I'm still going to make myself a spreadsheet for that "Chicken" run. Gonna need a lot of progress and tick boxes.
