That is because you had them side by side. Your eyes get used to the faster frame rate and then when you see something slower it seems choppy. The same thing happens with going from a high frame rate game to a lower one. After a small adjustment period your eyes will become used to the slower frame rate and it doesn't matter anymore. I only play 60fps games every now and then so I don't have to readjust very often but I can see how that would bother people who do.
I can also adjust to sleeping on a rock but that doesn't mean it's as good as a bed.

60fps, 90' FOV, drop the skyboxes.

Ship it.

Suitable?

Didn't you see where he said he was tired of arguing about it? That means that we've backed him in a corner and he can't work his way out so he quit, Over. Please be a little more sensitive to this babby.

But going back, I completely agree with Ghaleon. Was a well-reasoned response and a good point overall.

Just don't turn into Eazy & Thermight on me.

I was on the GAF server in mumble and I stumbled on those guys role playing or some shit. "No no no, I killed you. You're dead now! My sharpening spell is plus 3 attack" it was so nerdy. Don't know what happened to them.

Well those were 4 skim-tastic pages.

Good job thinking the photoshop was real guys.

Also thanks to Ellis for confirming the FOV hasn't changed much; it certainly didn't look like to me anyway. Pretty sure we figured that out months ago with screenshot comparisons between Reach and 4... everyone forgot I guess.

Pondering whether I'd trade Halo 4's anti-aliased look, a blessed novelty for the series this generation, for twice the framerate has made me realize I am incredibly shallow, at least when it comes to jaggies.

Halo 4 uses FXAA which takes up almost no frames, doesn't half it from 60fps lol. Edit, never mind I misread...

And death to jaggies!

I didn't get sensitive about anything bub. I gave up because the conversation was going no where and was a waste of time.

I finally caught up from yesterday, and what I was most struck by is how many people in this thread I don't recognize. It's like 80%. What happened to all the old members?

It's not real? I guess I should be a bit more skeptical about these new images coming from Mars too, huh?

I would literally play a game where the environments were simple gray cubes, the characters were basically blue or red Lego dudes, and the gameplay was similar to halo if it meant that the fps and fov could be better.

I've always wanted a game that's almost entirely grayscale (save for maybe HUD elements or something). Still graphically impressive, very detailed 3D models, etc. Just no textures or skyboxes.

mmmmm Justice.

I suppose it depends on your definition of 'need'. I think 60 fps is really a requirement for racing games and fighters, the sensation of speed and fluid movement are just not the same. But I'd rather have what Halo brings to the table in terms of visuals - skyboxes, huge environments, etc. - and underlying simulation and AI than have the bump to 60 fps.

I'd love to have both, but Halo doesn't need 60 fps. (What it needs is a rock-solid frame rate.)
The perfect post. There are things that I would also prefer before the 60 fps as well, but that's not saying I don't want it!

lol awesome. More funny gifs would be better than past 4 pages of discussion.
HaloGAF complains about posting gifs 2 days ago and today wants more gifs. I don't get it.

It wouldn't matter to you, there's no real difference between my throne of gold and your computer chair.
hahahahahhahahaaha Does your gold throne run at 60 fps?

Spot on. Tho I've always felt that gun camos were just something for you to do while you wait in the menu. You can never distinguish gun camos mid game cuz shits going down. But I can see why they'd put them in there for the whole rpg level up stuff that's in every game now.

I can't remember the last time Daedalius added to a conversation, instead of just commentating on it.

I said bloom was like dice the other day. Is that adding to the conversation or just commenting on it?

The discussion Shake started the other day about armor lock was pretty good at least, but beyond that I'm drawing a blank on most 'actual' discussion I can 'contribute' to in a meaningful fashion.

Usually its just lots of complaining about one thing or another, be it FOV, lack of information, lack of concrete ranking system, etc.

Well, it also gives you a chance to change up what you stare at 99% of the time.

Have we heard as to whether the active roster is in? I sometimes forget how ingrained that feature is in Reach; it will be sorely missed if it doesn't make it.

Wut.

Having some random blob on your weapon bounce around like it was having a seizure wasn't looking "damn good".

Well if random you mean a shadow cast by a light source... But anyways, I liked it, I thought it really made the gun pop if that makes sense.

OT but, buying AC3? Wal-Mart screwed up and has it for pre-order for $15...

Damn, I completely missed this.. odds are they would never honor it..but man, it would be nice.

Unless you are watching on a large TV there is no real difference, And honestly it still isn't a massive difference if you are, yes it is noticeable but it all it really boils down to is making it look a little smoother and cleaner. It mainly just makes you feel better about your purchase because it is "better".

What are you talking about, 60 fps is hugely noticeable, and really makes the game a lot more smooth looking.. No matter what TV I have played CoD on it has looked undeniably smooth and clean, I would kill for that in Halo. That said, I know why Halo is at 30 fps, and as long is its locked I am happy. Maybe next gen we will be able to get the 60fps + Superb visuals.

It also has the side effect of making enemies appear smaller and possible less intimidating. Determining the proper FOV is a balancing act as both wider and tighter FOVs have their strengths and weaknesses based on the experience you're trying to convey.

That is the one thing I do not like about better FOVs, the game loses its sense of scale and a lot of the detail is lost on me. From a gameplay perspective it may make things easier to spot, but it definitely has its trade offs. Im pretty happy with Reach's FOV, it conveys scale fairly well and plays good. (although, scale has always slightly been lost on me in Halo games, from Halo 3 to Reach)

The last almost-clarification I remember getting from someone at SDCC (I think) was that you can bring it up with a press of the X button...I think.

I'm about 75% sure it's in, but you have to press 'X' to access it instead of moving right on the stick. I don't remember if anyone official commented on the matter though.
