Why wouldn't you not make TF2 hats. :|

I bet it's a fun side project for a few modelers and it might be a nice break from modeling pipes during crunch.

Plus, it instantly guarantees a few thousands sales from TF2 fanatics! At the same time, there is an argument to be made for developpers wanting players to play their games for the experience, not because you get a shiny hat for another game. Imagine if a couple thousand buyers never actually install the game. :|

NS2 looks fun and different but the price is so high. :/ I'll have to wait for a sale to get into that.

Thank god for the entrance fee to Greenlight. It quickly turned into a mess. I love the potential for it, but yeah, obvious how it turned into a sea of nonsense.

My gut instinct was to say "$100 is a bit steep", but then I realized that the purpose of the submission fee is two-fold. Even though Valve claims it's to screen joke or abusive entries, the second purpose is also to screen well-meaning but completely inadequate hobby entries. And that actually is a good thing, at least for now.

Edit: Removing the number of submissions, the number of views, and the number of favourites is a bit unusual. I'm not sure why they did that.

Agreed. My initial reaction was "$100 is a lot of money", followed by my secondary reaction of "$100 is a drop in the bucket of a Kickstarted project, or one that's high enough quality to be able to solicit donations toward the submission fee". So both the people submitting the game, and the ones claiming to find the game worthy of Steam put their money where their mouths are.

I like how Valve clarifies that the $100 fee is pretty much because everyone would spam up the service if they didn't. They even tried it without a fee and are even donating the money obtained to a charity.

I'm happy because without some kind of barrier to entry it is painfully obvious that the service would be inundated with shit, and it was the first couple of days.

Also boo I can't buy Dark Souls, white page of death.

Something else to say: I really hope Steam doesn't expand much more than what is implemented right now, I've always wanted Steam to be as elegant as possible...

Where's my Big Picture Mode!

Just kidding, Im sure it will be here in the next two weeks. I am just incredibly hyped for it for some reason.

It's a sign. Grab it from GMG for 30 bucks.

I really haven't researched the subject, as I'm too damn lazy, but why I can't find The Amazing Spiderman on neither my steam client or the US store page?

Apparently the game is not for sale in the US yet, I was looking into it earlier today and some people were discussing it on the Steam forums.

I'm just going to say that Natural Selection 2 is amazing and everybody should buy it.

You're free to buy it for me if you want, but as an Aussie the game will last like 2 weeks (if i'm lucky) before dying out. I have already being burnt out on MNC, RO2, Nuclear Dawn, GCI, MP3 and many other games that i liked.

It'll last longer than two weeks, NS has a strong Aussie community dating back to the mod days, competitive play and everything. In the beta Australian servers are some of the most active. I'm in Australia as well.

Are those your only points of reference for comparison? You realize how large the original NS player base was, right? The fact these guys managed to last the amount of years they have mostly due preorders and donations speaks volumes to their size.

I agree with SparkTR - for some reason, I feel like NS2 is going to be much more successful than any of those games listed. MNC was lacking polish/content at launch, Red Orchestra 2's launch was a clusterfuck, Nuclear Dawn is basically a commercial source mod, GCI launched with GFWL and shittons of DLC, and Max Payne 3 wasn't built from the ground up for multiplayer.

Now, I can't speak for the current polish of NS2, but it's been in beta for god knows how long, and I would hope that another month of it should be enough for it to come out of the gate swinging.

By the way, Spark, can you give me a rundown of NS2's performance? Like what settings/res you run the game at, what framerate you get, and what your specs are?

I've spent the most time with the game on a system with a 560Ti and an i5 2500k processor, it easily maxes it out at 1080p while keeping a steady 50-60fps in all but the most extreme of situations. Still needs more optimization (currently a cheese strategy for aliens is to spawn dozens of their builder AI units and march them into the marine base, killing performance and allowing easy kills), and lower end dual core systems could use more work (though they can get 30-50fps at medium settings), but overall it's way improved over how it was before and optimisation a main priority from now until release apparently.

Another few hours and Steam expands. I wonder what kind of deals Valve has made with non-gaming software developers. Maybe they were able to get a F2P version of Photoshop deal going? :O

The release date for I Am Alive got pushed up a week and is now coming out tomorrow. I know it won't happen any time soon, but Ubisoft needs to give Steamworks a shot. Being able to protect your games before release is really important.

It's a good idea. I'm sure there will still be some absolutely horrible submissions, now just slightly fewer.

I agree with that idea and I believe I couldn't have said it any better.

Also, I Am Alive is a day 1 for me. Played a bit of it at a neighbors house when he had it and I was hooked on the concept.

Got one of those Dirt showdown keys for my friend, but he doesn't seem to want it since its not really a rally game. Does anyone want to play it, just quote and I'll PM.

Well, this is random. Just bought the 4 pack deal for Torchlight 2 and Natural Selection 2. I now have 3 copies of Natural Section 2 in my gifts page, but only 2 copies of Torchlight 2.

Any ideas what's wrong?
