SONY needs to change the controller for the PS4

L2 and R2 suck, and they could be a little more comfortable to hold for larger hands.. but aside from that, I think they still have the best controller out there.

Another dellusional thread of egoistic portrayal of subjective opinion as an univerasl fact.

OP, you should've at least put questionmark at the end of the title.

I agree. Heck, I want a universal controller. Xbox 360 controller with a better D-pad. That's all I really need. Even if Sony just offered a Dualshock with the left stick and d-pad reversed that would be better.

Not a fan of the dualshock at all.
I never understood why the left stick placement in the 360 controller is "better" and I have played 1st person shooters with it on the 360 and is the same atleast for me.

Triggers are useless in 95% of games, and make some games worse. They should be eliminated from all controllers.

I wouldn't mind if they evolved it into something like this.

It's still way more versatile than the 360 controller.

They do. Was so disappointed that they kept the same design for the PS3, and in ways its worse than previous designs thanks to the asinine L2/R2 triggers

I wouldn't even be mad if they reverted back to Dualshock 2's L2/R2 buttons.

I don't think I'd miss triggers whatsoever.

No they dont. I have big ass hands and its fine. These post are dumb.

This. The size of your hands are irreverent. You don't palm a DS3, it sits gently on your fingers, which can slide in and out to fit the controller.

Fix the triggers like the add-ons and it is damn near perfect. The 360 controller needs more work than the DS3. Bad bumpers, bad D-pad, convex face buttons.

Fix the triggers, make the battery detachable, make the D-Pad like the VITA's but bigger and go for a more ergonomic design comparable to the GC controller and it'll be perfect for me.

I have no real problem with the Dual Shock 3. Well besides the awful triggers. So yes Sony needs to change them next time for sure.

Though I also wouldn't mind much if they made it more like the 360's controller either.

Fix the triggers, make the sticks concave, make the d-pad like the sega saturn's controller and you will have the best controller in the world. Perfect for shooters and fighting games, everyone will be happy.

I wouldn't have an issue changing somethings about it like the Triggers but it's much better than the 360 controller for pretty much the majority of things.

The size is fine, I'm not a big fan of the analog sticks and the triggers are too small but overall it's a pretty good controller.

The X-box "Duke" will forever be the only comfortable controller for my huge-ass hands. :(

Maybe you should try using some arcade stick as a regular controller if your hands are that huge.

The only thing I don't like about the DS3 is the triggers, besides that I wouldn't change a thing. And that includes the analogue sticks position.

After using a DS during the PS1 days and going on to the Xbox's Duke/s/360 controllers, i find the DS to be way tooo small.

I like it as is. Clearly a matter of opinion and personal comfort, but they don't NEED to change it, as changing it may cause an equal amount of dislikes as them leaving it the same.

It's definitely smaller than I would like, but it's something I've come to get used to in nearly fifteen years and I wouldn't want it to change now. There's something comforting about that. Nostalgia, most likely.

The triggers need to be thought over, though.

Count me in the "It's fine the way it is" camp. Maybe it's from using the same model excessively since the PS2 or feeling handicapped with any controller that isn't KB+M for FPS, but aside from the triggers I've never had problems with the DS3 and slightly prefer it over the 360 controller. And I have GIANT hands.

fix the trigger and ds3 is the perfect controller you'll ever need. fuck 360 with their horrible shoulder button placement

Oooh thanks to God someone who thinks like me... it's fucking terrible to play DMC 4 or any others game who requires to push both shoulder & front button...

But really, why not just put out multiple controller versions? Have the system come with a Dualshock 4 and sell a 360 style controller in stores.

The boomerang controller was really bad to use or people just freak out about the design back in 2006?

I don't think that anyone outside of Sony ever got to hold it. There's one shot of a Sony employee holding it with gloves, and it's actually much smaller than you'd think when you just look at regular photos of it.

yeah the right button and left are horrible. With DS the triggers are both on the same length

I can honestly not think of anything I would want to change about the DS3. I suppose there's always room for little tweaks and tuning, but I really hope they don't make drastic changes next gen.

The DualShock buttons, sticks, and layout are fine. I generally prefer the Classic Controller Pro and 360 controller, but there's nothing inherently wrong with those aspects of the DS3.

The shell, however, is beyond terrible and should have been updated years ago. NUMEROUS peripheral manufacturers have done the same basic controller with a much more comfortable form factor, yet Sony refuses to change it to something ergonomic.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
The texture on the thumb sticks is grotesque and I never feel totally in control of them, they feel too slippery. The triggers are god awful too.

The overall shape is fine.
