Yes, because it means there is no room for discussion anymore. Unless it is used in a way to stress the enthusiasm one feels for something of course

Yes.

I hate it when people use it at the end of their argument. Like just putting the word period at the end will make all those disagreeing with you realize the error of their ways and stop.

I hate 'I could care less'. Fine with period.
"I could care less" isn't a phrase, it's "I couldn't care less."

I don't understand how people get this wrong so often. "I could care less" implies that you care more than you admit you probably should.

It's like "irregardless", "to all intensive purposes" and stuff like that, you wonder how they don't say it in their head and go, "hang on, this phrase makes no sense."

thats all there is to it
bottom line

...it all depends on how its used. If its somebody just joking around saying how much they like something, then its fine. Even in arguments, sometimes its ok if you're absolutely confident that you've put the nail in the coffin of somebody else's argument with some undeniable facts or something. But a lot of times, yea, people use it completely prematurely or ignorantly, thinking that their opinion is better or more right than everybody else's without having good justification for thinking so.

I created a flow chart at work detailing when the other people in the office are most likely to start using the word 'period'.
