Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

I didn't have a problem getting the price changed at all. The rep just checked my old order and told me to make a new order for the premium. He then changed the price. No begging, no convincing. It seems to depend on the different reps and how they handle things.

It took me around 15-20 minutes. I was told no 4 or 5 times. He insisted nobody was getting discounts.

Anyway..thanks SquiddyBiscuit. Enough money saved to get a couple more games. :)

I'm amazed they're actually honouring these. Fair play to them if they do, it does mean there's a decent chance I'll be using them for my launch games as well.

I think you're better off waiting for that e-mail that's supposed to be sent out to everyone who previously pre-ordered the Wii U back in June.

Yeah, a second CS rep confirmed me that the mail will tell us how to place a new preorder at the old price! :D

Steven: You should receive an email about this today as we are aware there are customers like yourself who placed the order at the cheaper price
We are aware of the issue and you should be informed of the process shortly in regards to placing a new order for the same price.

God damn, amazon are awesome. Wish I'd preordered in June! :(

I didn't realise Sainsburys wouldn't take any money before they ship... I'm shit at keeping hold of money, just bunged it in my savings account -- if it stays in there til Nov 30, that'll be the longest any sum of money has ever stayed in there!

Seems only those that we're cancelled within the last few days are being reinstated. Is thus correct? Mine was cancelled in june and I'm getting a No from CS....

I also got a 'No' from the first CS rep, but the second one told me to wait for the mail... Which I haven't recieved yet, by the way.

The best part is that I had just preordered it at my local GAME store today :lol But man, if there isn't any problem with the delivery I think I'll buy everything at Amazon from now on just for being so nice.

Fantastic! 3 min phone call and the amazon rep asked me to reorder the deluxe bundle and immediately marked it down to £199.99. Thanks!

I got the same answer. I was polite but persistent, but got nowhere. The CS lady didn't mention any email being sent out.

Woah so hold on, are they going to send out emails for us guys who ordered back in June? Or is that you guys getting my hopes up.

It's possible that those that aren't getting the price reduction booked at a time when the price was unavailable and not displayed as £199.

Is that without the email?

She asked for my email or order number, told her I didn't have it - but I asked if they could see it in my order history. The CS rep told me if it was cancelled it won't show up, but said she would honour it anyway. She asked for my email address and then mentioned Black Wii U do it must have shown up somewhere, then she reduced the price straight away.

Had it ordered with Shopto for £296, but will stick with amazon now ;-)

Hmmm I remember posting that topic back in June regarding the £199.99 price, maybe I should chase them up regarding the deal, but my backlog is massive at the moment lol.

Was this with an order from back in June? Had been planing on using staff discount to get on from Gamestation, but this will still work out cheaper if I can get it.

Yes, June order was cancelled so she requested I order it at £299 and then marked it down to £199 while I was on the phone.

>Your first sainsbury's order must be sent to your billing address which has to be the same as your cards billing address for verification.

>I don't live at my billing address.

Looks like I won't be ordering from sainsbury's after all, then.

And getting it sent to my billing dress isn't an option, my billing address is in blackpool and I'm currently living in cardiff, having it sent here would just be a pain.

Well, not wanting to miss out on getting my June pre-order reinstated I'm just off of the webchat with a very helpful chap called Tariq. No go he says:

"Tariq:All orders placed in June were cancelled- none have been reinstated.17:26:13
It's not currently clear whether we will be honouring those orders placed last Thursday with the incorrect price. There's no way for us to re-instate cancelled orders."

Enjoy your cheap Wii Us you lucky swines! Tariq, you've got the upperhand this time.......

Just a word of warning, no idea whether it's true or not, but a user on another forum voiced suspicion that Zavvi might have been hacked, as he and a few friends who had recently placed orders there had money taken from their accounts (spent on clothes, mobiles etc). Again, no idea how true this is - and since you have to register to access the forum (it's the Off Topic area of the Football Manager forums), can't provide a source - but possibly worth looking out for. I was certainly planning on buying from there, as it's so far the best price for anyone not speedy enough to get the Amazon discount.

I tried twice to get my June order reinstated but no luck. I'll look out for an email from Amazon but I'm not holding my breath.

at last, for christ's sake
amazon.it adjusted their prices on games. Now they're about 2.5£ less than .uk

decisions, decisions

Actually, Sainsburys with the SETENS12R code is currently the cheapest way of doing it. Even if it wasn't, I'd still rather get a Wii U from there than playing the Zavvi lottery.

Same here, I just tried as well, the person was convinced people were making it up...

So was mine, even after reading the thread. I eventually said

Karthik:I am sorry. As I told you previously we can't comment on this.
Me:This is getting a little silly. Amazons policy is probably the most random I've ever seen. I've had prices honoured before and cancelled before. It seems different depending on what Customer Service person you manage to talk too
Karthik:Do you want to speak to my supervisor?
Me:Yes, but I want to be clear I'm not blaming you in any way shape or form. You have been as helpful and polite as you can
Karthik:Thanks for your understanding.

And that got me onto a call with a Supervisor who let me replace the order and changed the price.

So thanks SquiddyBiscuit, wouldn't of tried if it wasn't for you ^^

Would anyone who has successfully managed to get the £199.99 Wii U be willing to share their new order number for us poor souls?

Tariq... I'm coming back for you.

Ok. I grilled the CS rep and this is what I found:

There are two scenarios;

1) You preordered in June for £199, your order was very swiftly cancelled (within a few weeks) <----This was me

2) You preordered in June, your order has only just been cancelled in the last week or so.

In scenario 1) Amazon are not honouring the order as they messed up fair and square and corrected it very quickly, with a clear email stating it was a mistake.

In scenario 2) they realise people were under the false impression they were receiving the item for the stated price for a rather long period of time, and as such they are honouring that price as a way of apologising.

***(secret scenario 3: I complained about various other cock ups I've had with Amazon this year, the June fiasco, the recent premium bundle price changes where I had an order changed from £229, to £259 then cancelled and when I went back it was £299!! and as a way of apology they offered to honour my original June price of £199. :) :) :) He wouldn't take the VAT off of that though (which would have brought it down to £166!!) but I didn't want to be greedy in pursuing that, so I just thanked him for his kind offer and accepted it.

They did stress that this was not because I was entitled to it as part of their corrections, but due to the other circumstances.

Happy days! (for some)
