There's some good info there. EatChildren you've done a better job of explaining Miiverse than Nintendo. It actually sounds pretty cool.
Will they even be able to connect online and see miiverse and os stuff working?Aren't review units going out to journalists in the next week or so? If Miiverse and other OS functionality isn't locked out, that might be the first real good look we'll get at it.

Don't expect a complete overall/revolution on the dashboard side, as i said on a previous thread, it's a natural evolution of the Wii "channels" organization, with improvements, some of them deriving from the 3DS.
It will be efficient and well-thought.
About Miiverse, there's a possibility it won't be available at launch, considering third-parties can't access it right now.
It really looks like the Wii U will be a multiple stage rocket. To avoid customers being overwhelmed by the plethora of features, keep some ammo against the competition and inject additional momentum during its lifespan, they will have first the system itself and the gamepad, then Miiverse, then the NFC, the two gamepad's, etc.
A nice move imo

What about launch games we know are taking advantage of it? It would be a missed opportunity to not have NSMBU using the feature day one.
That sounds like PR wank.
Well, as i said, it's not available to certain third-parties. So maybe it will be there at launch but only Nintendo games will take advantage of it.
It just has to be there with both New Super Mario Bros U and Nintendo Land using it. There's no way around it.
Third parties probably just learned of it too late in their dev cycle (likely along with the rest of the world in June) and/or Nintendo is fixing it up with last minute stuff so they're not giving devs access until it's fully ready. Who knows.

Didn't see this in the OP, but Reggie mentions that Miiverse "may not be there right on launch day"
http://youtu.be/ZYk-bwfNqlI?t=1m40s
could there be a period of time when we won't see these features in launch games like NSMBU?
Go Nintendo posted this as news dude
Yeah i've seen it. Well, the first two sentences are real news from my sources. They are true, but as always, you have to take into consideration the context (third-parties, etc.). The other part is an assumption/educated guess on my part on one of the motive to spread the availability of several key Wii U features, it's not a sure thing at all and i used "it looks like" to emphasis on that
Yes, I'm 99.9% certain Miiverse will be there on day 1. Both Nintendo Land and NSMBU feature Miiverse integration - it's inconceivable that it won't be up and running at launch.I have seen another blog claim NO MIIVERSE at launch from this rumor.
No Miiverse is a very strong claim... to me No Miiverse is pretty much a broken Wii U at this point. The first thing they showed off about the thing. Missing at launch is a huge let down if true. Just saying the blogs are running with bits and pieces of this now.

At least this one it wasn't Gaf jumping on conclusion
Nintendo showed Miiverse in a Nintendo Direct few days before E3, it'll be here, but maybe not 100% complete(like 3rd party can't use it fully right now).

Wait a goddamn minute, NSMBU uses the Miiverse full force and its a launch game.
It would make absolutely no sense for the Miiverse to not be available from day one.
What are you smoking, Frenchie?
EDIT: Damn it, Frenchie!
And doesn't ZombiU uses Miiverse?
Yeah ZombiU is using the Nintendo Network at least - using your 'friends' - is this the Miiverse or is that a secondary system? We don't really know.
But the basics will be there at launch; am not sure why the Miiverse wouldn't be, we already know from Reggie - Miiverse is the OS on this thing.
Didn't Iwata also mention that it's the first thing you see when you turn on the Wii U? Wouldn't make sense for it not to make launch if that's the case.
Was there any hints or anything regarding a Nintendo Direct in the future? I know we all expect one but yeah. We have to hear something about all of this soon.
There have been no hints. NCL is due for their regular Nintendo Direct soon (before the end of October). New NSMB2 DLC is coming by the end of the month and Crashmo/Fallblox has yet to be announced.
Nintendo's quarterly releases are this week and they will probably have an investors meeting to go with it.
Any idea what day the investors meeting is? I forget if we've ever got big information from the meetings/reports in the past..
Anybody know if they are perma bans on D-e-f- and Mihael Mello Keehl?
So what about the in-game notifications in Zombi U? Is that not Miiverse?well, as explained, it's not available to third-parties, so there are many scenarios possible, from worst to best, with intermediary cases that could involve this feature being there at launch while the info given is true, we covered a few already (not accessible to third-parties but miiverse will allow basic functions for their games from"outside", without being integrated by the developers themselves, etc)
This no Miiverse at launch is crazy talk.
