New 'The Last Of Us' previews, screens and video

Evolved1

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
Naughty Dog, please allow us to switch the flashlight and crouch buttons, thanks.

I can't wait for this game!

I think this game has the potential to frustrate people with the insta-death enemies and frantic combat. That's probably why they added the Listen Mode to help reduce frustration for those people.

So after watching the gameplay I am more confused on this game.

Why is he crouching if he is shining a flash light?
Why do the enemies seem to not even notice him until he shoots the gun?
When he does shoot they run to the sound and ignore him... wtf

Im hoping that was the worst possible example of gameplay they coudl show... otherwise my hype just got severely lowered.

Because they are blind?

I hope I answered all your questions.

Presumably you didn't also notice that they had no eyes.

Yup.

But... this new demo now has me pretty convinced that certain moments from the E3 walkthrough were completely smoke and mirrors.

I was pretty confident that the last scene in the original E3 demo, where Joel kicks off his aggressor and gets to his feet while picking up and readying the shotgun (all in one perfectly smooth continuous motion)... I was pretty confident that was created specifically for the walkthrough and wasn't real gameplay. Now I'm 99% sure of it.

And starting to question some of the other obvious 1v1 interactions that seemed too good to be true.
I think these moments will be there. They're just scripted and activate if certain conditions are met: "Player entered room from this site, now activate this sequence"
Most of the "impossible" stuff we saw is probably like that. The guy running in the longer version of the E3 demo will also be scripted I bet: "Player entered room from here, killed 3 out of 4 bad guys in this time frame and the random number generator generated a 2. Activate guy running sequence."

I don't think the AI is that smart on its own. They will create many different scenarios for you based on your actions and I think most players will be fine with that.

That is the very definition of Smart AI.

Joel also isn’t a jumper and scrambler as much as Nathan Drake is, although climbing is a large part of traversing the ruined outskirts of Boston. He needs help from Tess to get up to areas that Drake could get to with his eyes closed, and he doesn’t move quite as quickly. Plus, he has Ellie to worry about, and most times this means clearing out areas or exploring alternative routes before she can proceed.

He is also equipped with a flashlight that has a limited battery. Luckily, you’ll find batteries fairly often, as long as you explore, and you’ll need them because in some places light is your only friend. While Joel’s listen mode highlights enemies that are near him, they don’t let him see in the dark. Thankfully, the infected can’t see the beam from your flashlight, which is good because it gives you one less thing to be afraid of.

The Last of Us plays out like we wish Resident Evil 6 would have (sorry Capcom!), meaning it provides a creepy experience slowly moving through abandoned environments, while wondering what lurks around every corner. As soon as you hear a Clicker, you’ll freeze in place while frantically looking around for a brick or a bottle to throw in order to distract it. And if you happen to get surrounded by Runners, you’ll want to hit sprint and pray.

As excited as I am to play this game....I don't think I will.

The simple fact is that I hate horror type games. I don't like the unnerving, heart-beating, palms sweating type feeling.

It sucks because it looks fucking great. But it might not be for me. And this is making me really god damn sad.

- Ellie isn't following you in the new gameplay videos.
She is following Tess, because the segment is very early in the game so they really don't know each other and also don't even trust each other

- the stages of the infected "stage 1" and "stage 3" are the military terms

- infected people get to "stage 1" after 2 or 3 days

- stage 1 infected tend to be in numbers, because there's still human conditions inside them

- you aren't going to be infected by the runners/stage 1

- Joel has a gas mask because there are going to be clouds of spores which gets you infected

Delay? I really hope this shit isn't true. I want the game as soon as possible.
http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2013/02/12/the-last-of-us-may-have-been-delayed/

delaying a game would be a first in ND's history
it seems unlikely, especially after UC3, i think they regretted giving it a release date too early.
i dont think they would make the same mistake twice in a row.

EDIT: unless the decision comes from SCEA and not ND. for, i dont know, marketing reasons, like showing TLOU at E3 as mentionned in the article. but then i think E3 will be dedicated to Orbis/Vita

Take all the time you want ND. In all seriousness, I would prefer an up-port to the PS4 as well. Fuck the haters.

Maybe they got feedback from the recent previews which requires them to delay the game?

me too. This close its feeling like a wasted opportunity. Sure launching a big name like a God of War at the end of the gen works but a new IP? Dual launch would work for me fine

could be from Sony's end.

sorry i must have been editing my post while you posted
anyway yeah if the game is delayed i'd tend to think it would come from sony

why would they need to delay the game for an eventual ps4 port ?
it wouldnt be released until the end of the year anyway.
i dont see how it would impact on the ps3 version

There's a new Preview from German GamePro.
I summarize in short what has been written which I think has not been mention yet anywhere. If so I apologize.

- to liberate from the stranglehold of an infected person you have to press the sprint button

- you will never find fully-staffed magazines, it's all about bullet counting

- companion Tess takes sometimes into the action to help you and after the opening of the game it will be Ellie. It seems that after the prelude, Tess does not seem to belong to the travel community anymore

- the new gameplay demo is set 1 hour into the game

Also, I am going to post a few shocking infos in a few hours :)

No Country For Old Men is a stunning movie.

Have they talked about how the decision dynamic works between two directors?
