I can just imagine someone entering this thread for the first time and seeing this page.

One Piece:

Standard set up chapter. I don't know if I want an actual tournament or not. Maybe if the competitors were like, Robin, Nami, Ussop and Chopper it would be interesting.

Also, I'm confused. People want the SH's to actually show off their advancement over the 2 years, yet when it appears they might have a chance to do so (Not that this is likely going to go like a normal tournament), and people bitch? Sometimes I think when it comes to OP people don't really know what they want.

And on the Pre vs. After timeskip issue, we're only in the beginning of the third arc. You can't really compare the two yet, unless you only take the series up to, say, Alabasta into account (Although saying that, I do agree the OP hasn't been as good since the skip, still better than Bleach/Sasuke though).

Naruto:

Well that was quick. At least the flashback within a flashback appears to be near its end. Hopefully we get back to the flashback soon.

The opponents gathered dont really look all that powerful to even warrant being excited about for this tourney to be honest. They would really only show their skills if they were facing some of the foes that have been present for the longest time, like swordsman versus epic swordsman for Zoro. At this point I just dont see nothing that would give the same sort of excitement that Natsu v Sting gave, etc.

Happy Marriage!? vol 2

One volume full of misunderstandings and "do you really love me or not" BS. It wasn't as stupid as I thought it would be, but I hope the manga doesn't recycle the same plotline.

Given the setup of the story, I wonder how many new characters will be added or love rivals. Seeing how they are married, you can't really have love triangles, so that only leaves the jealousy plot option open, but we already had that happening twice. I guess the manga will keep focusing mostly on the main couple's relationship.

First off, basing opponents off their looks? Not exactly the best thing to do, especially in OP. Second, Zoro doesn't need to face a swordsman to have a good fight (He needs diamond dude, Jozu or something I think his name was), thrid, Natsu vs. Sting? What, the fight where Natsu curbstomped 2 Dragon Slayers with complete ease? (Which everyone called beforehand) Yea, that was exciting... Forth, I don't know why I'm arguing with you :p.

I see the thread went weird and its just Tuesday :O

We're in the beginning of the next ten years of OP, round two of everything. One Piece is easily consistent in its greatness, and everything being set up so far will most likely seem fantastic in retrospect. There's so many great things still to be told and a million others we don't even know we want yet.

People need discussion, need to comparing. Post time skip hasn't dipped in quality in the least, it's just that pre-time skip was god damn incredible. A veritable, not stop barrage of what is one of the better comics in this day and age.

Yeah, people may not like One Piece, but there's a vocal minorty to it I think. I don't understand anyone who could read Saobondy --> Marineford and not think it's incredible. Because it was.

It's like coming off of Storm of Swords. What could possibly hold up?

Based on what? These are the Royal Flush members. The same group that Law was going to be recruited into and Law is definitely a powerful foe. Saying they don't look powerful seems to fly in the face of all evidence up to this point about them

Man, I don't know why you guys hate Kubo so much. It's not like Bleach is as bad as, say, Medaka Box.

*runs*

Medaka Box embraces the trolling as part of it. Also it has a couple of good characters.

Bleach is trolling us while trying to look deep with all the heart shit.

Although I'd say that Bleach was once a good manga. Medaka Box was always...not very good.

...

Also what happened here?

I just think Medaka Box thinks its really smart, but it actually doesn't make any fucking sense.

I didn't think it was possible.

I am regularly astonished by this thread's capacity for hate. I mean, to not be moved by something, okay, but to actively hate on such a regular basis. I just don't have it in me. What is it about shounen manga that attracts people whose lives have forged them into such raging engines of loathing, I cannot imagine. I don't think there is anything on earth that I hate anywhere near as much as some people hate Naruto the Ninja and his Black and White Comic Book.

Its a longstanding internet tradition to believe that saying things other people enjoy are bad is completely equivalent to being a scholar on a subject.

You would love this guy on GameFAQS who types paragraph upon paragraph detailing how brilliant Medaka Box is.

I just really don't like it. The entirety of the plot is Nisio conjuring up more and more nonsensical powers that aren't really clever.

I always thought it was the CoD effect, where people who are proponents of the "big thing" routinely try to make everything else just seem not as good, using every single trick in the play book.
