Metal Gear Solid V announced (PS360, open world)

I don't care for Hayter, bring back Alfonso Valles as Spanish Snake!!

Also who is the guy Miller is referring at the beginning of the trailer. Snake is there but seems to be a third guy...bandage guy?

And since when Big Boss had a meccanical arm? Retcon?

Wouldn't Sutherland be more expensive than Hayter?

That's exactly the reason. If you're spending a lot of money better have some famous actors there.

Jesus, Kojima does it again. And this looks mighty damn impressive for running on current gen hardware.

Looks like I may not need to jump into the next gen until sometime next year.

Ground Zeroes is spent playing as Big Boss. The Phantom Pain is spent playing as Slightly Weird Big Boss who is eventually revealed to be Burny aka DECOY OCTOPUS.

Reveal of the forever, followed by intense rage from everyone who is mad about another MGS game where you don't play as Solid/Big Boss.

Ground Zeroes being the prologue with The Phantom Pain being the real game fits my theory, but I can't make heads or tails of where some of the shots in that trailer fit in the game's timeline. There's normal Big Boss in helicopter, injured Big Boss in helicopter, injured Big Boss on operating table, atrophied Big Boss after coma (?), Diamond Dogs Big Boss on motorcycle with something in his head.....?????????

Dafuq is going on?

Awesome trailer. If it's 9 years, does this take place after MG1/MG2 then? What are we supposed to assume happened to the Outer Heaven from Peace Walker?

I get the part that somebody attacked outer heaven ?

You can ignore Portable Ops.

Peace Walker has Big Boss found a mercenary company with young Master Miller called MSF, Militaires Sans Frontieres (Soldier Without Borders). He's hired by a Russian spy to investigate and take out out a CIA experiment in Costa Rica where they're developing the first Metal Gear, which is piloted by an AI based on The Boss's mind. After they destroy it, it turns out that Big Boss (who hates being called "Big Boss" until the end) feels betrayed by The Boss's actions in MGS3 that he now fully understands. He builds his own Metal Gear named ZEKE with the help of two scientists (including Otacon's father), but ZEKE is hijacked by another character who is revealed to be a spy for Zero and his proto-Patriots organization (then called "Cipher"). Zero wanted Big Boss to come back to the fold of the Patriots and let MSF become their tool, or die. Miller then reveals that he was receiving support from Cipher all along, but was only using them to help Big Boss build up MSF and Mother Base, their headquarters. Big Boss embraces the fact that the whole world is going to be against them, and tells his forces that they're christening MSF "Outer Heaven."

Hey guys, remember this from over a year ago? It seems to actually fit MGSV better than it did MGR when people were speculating about that. :)

Debut @VGA world premier teaser followed by tech presentation @GDC, trailer and actual game presentation @E3, online mode beta test in summer, exhibiting @Gamescom, game play available in multiple occasion in fall, and release yr end. This is the trend of game promotion in western market.

He was playing off of (or made to look like he was) the computer to his left. Anyone recognize the model?

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
I love this guy's work, he's real versatile too (see Dark City vs 24), but will he put real effort into "mere" voice acting and will there be enough support from the crew for it to work out? Hayter at least would know what's up and do well for sure. I really hope this works out. And that the game itself is awesome first of all.

Lol @ team cg.

Being terrible at voicing Snake, probably? And the budget for this game is likely astronomical, so replacing him with Kiefer Sutherland is a no-brainer.

But after so many years the character is inherently attached to the voice.
I think he should've dropped the Snake character, if he wanted to drop Hayter.

Not that i'm going to not get this D1 regardless, since it's looking insane so far.

If this releases this year, holy shit.
One of the best years in gaming in a while.

Hideo was talking about releasing pilot stuff in order to combat dev costs.

It could be that GZ will be a stand alone pilot release and will come this year. TTP following afterward.

Genuinely curious about the roman numeration.

Really? If I remember correctly, he was referring to the part when Snake is crawling as the tutorial, and that's The Phantom Pain, which takes place after Ground Zeroes, chronologically. They use Snake's limited condition as a way to gradually introduce gameplay mechanics, I think.

Still doesn't explain the reason there's a tutorial after the playable prologue section of the game. Why would the player need to be taught how to play after having played Ground Zeroes? Something's fishy.

Edit: You made me sound like a crazy person with your edited post. Either that or something's wrong with GAF.

I'm confused. If Ground Zeros is a prologue to TTP, why does TTP open with a tutorial? Or is GZ only a prologue in the story-sense, not in a first-thing-you'll-play sense?

Sounds plausible, I remember Sony released a $40 demo for GT5 and it sold millions

I don't have a Twitter account, but a GAF user that does should ask whether Joakim Mogren was a real actor or CG. Just so we can end this once and for all.

Kojima wore a Joakim Mogren mask on stage lol, pretty sure it was real. Since the FOX engine stuff looks nothing even close to it

A GI editor said that he'd heard that GZ would be a downloadable game. A few days later Kojima came out with that comment about how dev costs could be helped by releasing pilot episodes of games. I think that there's a real possibility that we'll be playing Ground Zeroes later this year while they get an extra year or two to finish TPP.

It's not... It's running on PC, and looks more like what i'd expect from early next-gen stuff.

Expect the PS3/360 versions to be noticeably downgraded.

The gameplay character models are noticeably below the character models that we've seen in next-gen games. Even NPC characters in KZ are smoother in design than Snake is. The cutscenes are likely done pre-recorded like many games this gen. So they'll look better.
