Bingo. MS would have benefited from this more if they had originally revealed it this month so they could have almost 2 months of the spotlight to themselves going into E3. Now, they have the reveal before E3 and then unveiling the rest at E3 with a hungry Sony and even hungrier Nintendo. It's going to be a hectic week.

I think they just waited for the Sony hype to die down a bit, since it was ages away from E3 and release. MS want to keep the hype up over the coming weeks and months.

Ummm...Ok?

Ari You can't possibly believe it was in any way a negative for Sony to show early. They have dominated all console talk since then with every press outlet online or print gathering rumors and interviews on it. Everyone knows the PS4 is coming out and it has a lot of positive buzz enough that it will take something impressive to shift the conversation back to Microsoft.

Yeah, and the rumours are doing nothing for Microsoft while people are already pre-ordering the Playstation 4 and it's associated titles in countries worldwide.

I'm guessing we see more from Microsoft than what Sony showed at their event, but we see less from them at E3 when compared to Sony.

My guess is Sony goes for a two big event type of deal, and Microsoft has one big ass earthquake on the 21st and then a few little aftershocks for E3.

Either way, I'm hoping I'll know what console I want this holiday come May 22nd.

There will be hype but they'll be sharing that same hype with Sony's and Nintendo's news. If you mean the fervor they stirred up with not announcing it these past few months then I guess so.

The 360 was revealed just days before e3 and the ps3's presentation.

If MS announces a few IPs, and then rounds it with this TV and entertainment focus... will you guys be happy? Wont mindshare favour MS if they are broadcasting to the general public (SpikeTV) and leading the way for new ways of watching TV?

This TV thing could be pretty fabulous

It just occurred to me this will be the best E3 since 2006.

Nintendo is going out after a lackluster year for the Wii U
Sony and Microsoft are revealing new consoles

I have a boner

On that day, we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we’ll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games.

Sounds like they intend to pull a Sony and only really show a sample of what's on offer. I prefer this approach personally, only having to wait 19 days until the main event is perfect.

The trolling from MS after the sony event had me curious, just saying.

PS4 was revealed on a gloomy winter night in February, foreshadowing it's murky next few years. Meanwhile Xbox 720's first impression will be remembered as a Sunny day with clear skies. RIP PS4

Well, this should be fun to watch then. The part about it being about 'the vision' has me worried... I don't want 2 hours of wanky presentations and lucid dream nonsense. Sony at least tried to not do any of that nonsense.

Close enough to E3 that they can keep the momentum going, I like this.

I could see them simultaneously doing a next-gen CoD reveal at the same time for more hype.

Cool, hopefully they'll show more than Sony did and also put some of the rumors to rest. If "always on" turns out to be true, I'm sure they'll try to justify it somehow with the social and TV aspects they are also pushing.

Well, its gonna be a long month wait. I can't say I'm terribly hyped for it, but I will watch/keep track of it. Microsoft has a chance to regain a customer, they better take advantage of it.

Seems Garnett Lee is hinting that all the always online / no used games rumors were BS?

Garnett doesn't believe the rumors are true and I don't think he has any insider knowledge.

Xbox Reveal hashtag is trending in the US right now.
