We tagged this as rumor and in the original story expressed that this wasn't really likely. I hadn't seen his "next week" thing before. Now I have.
Well, as long as you didn't lose your job over it, we can all get a good laugh out of it.

I don't know how you can spin believing that the game is coming out next week. You don't think that would have leaked somehow? It would have at least been in the advance store leaflets. Production on game discs from gold to release is around three weeks. Wouldn't a store like Gamestop who loves preorders get really upset at a surprise release for a game?

You have this weird way of being simultaneously self-deprecating while acting like this is just one of those things that could happen to anybody.
Most high school students would have at least done some cursory research and thought about it and the excuse of tagging it as a rumor does little to mitigate the lack of those fundamentals in the first place.
The purpose of his tweet was not to convince Game Informer to write a story without verification, it was his stock response to getting asked about dates. The extent to which you were "trolled" by it seems to say more about your reporting skills.

Yes, "next week, in...." is one of his standard responses. The end varies (game magazines, game stores have all be used before).
It's really funny to read this whole event in the context of what JP said earlier in the week about game outlets just grabbing PG tweets and pasting them as news.
