The fact of the matter is that you don't own the code that exists on either the disc or the HDD. You really don't own the bits that comprise the program. You are licensing the right to use the software as the owner of the software sees fit.

It's a hard concept for most to understand because we are used to having physical copies that we can do what we want with. Companies have been moving away from that for some time now, and other companies have made the full dip. IOS, Android, Steam (to a certain degree), games on PC, Itunes, Kindle, XBLA, PSN, etc.

I can't honestly sit here and say that I'm against it when I've supported it. I've bought digital content on every system I've named above. It really doesn't bother me. I feel that I've been offered a fair price for what I received in the transaction. It will be no different with the X1.

Your points are valid in a PC/Tablet/Smartphone environment however we're talking about a videogame console which is a different case. All those companies you've mentioned have not started in the entertainment environment.

There's no doubt that the game industry wants to move to the other environment, because there they have more control and you lose the ownership of the product you purchase digitally, you don't even get the product at all you only get a license. They're making XBone the vessel to accomplish it.

This thread is.... hum... sort of awesome (but not in the way op would think it is).

I'm really impatient to see what could a disappointing Sony E3 conference could lead to? And I'm pretty sure it'll be... there must be some equivalent for used game at least as I really don't see MS go alone on this. And always online may be here too.

Fuck yeah, console wars! :D

I strongly believe that the least informed potential buyers should be informed of what they are going into by purchasing this new console, but this ..... this is just Tabloid level of fail xD
