The rolling landscape... Eh... It bothered me at first in WW, but I got over myself. It's different, but there are pros and cons to the change, not just cons, so I adapted. And since WW was the highest selling Animal Crossing (someone correct me on this), it seems that enough people do like it.

I just don't want the world to feel small. I prefer there to be some proportion to it. My town isn't the only town on the planet, you know?

I've only played the original and I didn't like the look of it in WW. Maybe it'll look better with a bigger screen.

Yeah, just copy the contents of the SD card to your PC and it's backed up. The data is backed up in case your SD card goes haywire, but it won't insure you if your 3DS were to break/lost, unless Nintendo is able to fix it without sending you a new system.

There's a code system in place where the backup saves work with the 3DS that made them, so you can actually back them up to a PC.

The problem with AC though, is that it seems to generate a new code every time you play, so you'd have to backup every time you play. It sounds frustrating, unless someone manages to crack it somehow.

I guess this is the hurdle.

The rolling landscape doesn't really bother me. I do enjoy how dense AC GCN looks, but the way the town is a grid is kinda lame. Given the advanced customisation options with regards to clothing and accessories, it doesn't make much sense any more to have a birds-eye view.

How about one villager slave offered up a week?

*grinds axe*

Think of your favorite childhood game and pick a town within that game.
That's what I did with the DS one (barely played City Folk though). Went with Crysta (the song from that place is so goddamn gorgeous) from Terranigma... damn, the feels.

Cannot wait for this little gem.

I hoped that the higher resolution in the 3DS would mean they could go back to the original perspective. At least they should give the player a choice. /sigh

out this soon? Huzzah! And I'll have a *little* bit of free time to play it. doesn't hurt it's a great game for 10 minute bursts either. Going digital as my monhun cart is welded to the 3ds

Any tips for writing letters to your neighbours?
I know we should be careful of bad spelling and write like you want a 5 years old kid to understand you :lol

There's grass wear again? I had no idea. Going to call to cancel my pre-order I think.

Not really, but that is disappointing :(

I.... I have become a hoarder in the original animal crossing.

The only alternative in my opinion is a full third person view, and that wouldn't give a very good perspective of what's going on around you i.e. spotting animals.

Grass wear looks a lot better this time round.

Does the grass wear get as bad as in City Folk? My city in that game was nearly a desert apart from a few small patches of grass.

EDIT: Didn't see then answers above my post. :(

Other people coming to my town and seeing the horrible letters between neighbors is my favorite part!

I didn't pre-order the bundle and now I have to wait until Monday to call up my local GameStop to see if I can still get one.

I don't want to to order it online and wait a week for it to arrive. :(

The answer is simple. Allow us to zoom in or out as we please. It's not like it's a problem that hasn't been solved before. I wouldn't even mind the rolling view if it was the extreme zoomed in view. Let me back the camera out and the world looks more like the original game. Problem solved.

I know that I'm going to be here constantly so I'm just gonna settle in.

*Kicks up feet*

Reset me a week from now.

I like the perspective. Seems like it gives a better view of what's happening ahead of you than top-down would.
Yeah, that was the main pro for me. But like the other poster said, it did feel claustrophobic; while you could see better the amount you saw was greatly reduced. Maybe he and I both played on big ass CRTs but the change in viewing amount hurt. I eventually got used to it, but even I have an irl friend who won't be buying this because of the perspective change. I didn't play City Folk much so it should be less jarring for me this time around, and like Emitan said they may have made improvements.

Just picked up my 3DS XL on sale at Target yesterday for $175.

So ready for this.

Crazy to think you can get an XL for that price, when I paid like $250 for my regular 3DS at launch. Never really use the 3D, either, so the bigger screens would be appreciated.

Enjoy

This is one of the big reasons why I never buy consoles at launch anymore.

Hello CrossingGAF!

Long time lurker, first time poster here on gaf.

I'm a huge fan of animal crossing and New Leaf will be mine on day 1!

my last AC game was Wild World back in '05 which yielded so many good times.

anyway I'm really looking forward to playing online with gaf! I'll add my FC to the form in the next few days.

I'll most likely name my character Hax (not because im a hacker, but because in real life I make edm under the alias Hax Maubrich so that's what my friends know me as)

not sure what my town name will be yet so hopefully I think of something soon.

Also where can I get that leaf to "New Leaf-ify" my avatar?
