TitanFall (EA/Respawn, PC/XB1/360, Spring 2014, Game Informer Leak, All Info In OP)

Very cool find but this isn't my game at all. The last thing I was looking for from a new IP was an an always online shooter from EA made by the guys from call of duty. Hopefully XB1 has something else up its sleeve.

More like win-huge loss if TitanFall bombs. This must have cost MS tons.

This is true. It being online only and Respawn not exactly having a pedigree (outside of having the creators of CoD) may be unappealing to most. If the XB1 version failed, at least they have a PC version to fall back on.

N4G's mods won't allow the information to go public on their website.

blatant disregard for summaries.

EDIT: I love GAF and the internet as a whole time time of year.

leaks are split, men start covering up.. and ban.

It was Microsoft and their endless pit of money. The PS4 is intentionally designed to be easy to port games to. That's why the console exclusivity for this game is a joke

Well... then any console exclusivity this gen will be a "joke". It sucks for people that don't want to buy a XB1, but good on Microsoft for at least trying to make their console worth buying.

Sounds cool! Can't wait to see it in action. I might get the 360 version, but I dunno.

In another section of the magazine there is an interview with Phil Spencer (X1 reveal, TV, Cloud, etc...), but they have a Respawn quote about the Cloud:

Summary:
- It is a huge benefit
- Insures better match quality
- Offloads a lot of work from the client
- Gets rid of player-hosting problems of reducing console resources. Cloud increases Console's available power in multiplayer since this player hosting issue is no longer an issue.
- Gets rid of NAT and router issues
-
Downside:
- Leveraging power in single player must make the game use an online connection

Anyone who has the issue still I forgot to mention the lock-on thing. I didn't quite understand it. Something to do with the pistol I think.

I talked about it in an older post:

Pilots (of Titans) are jack of all trades special forces.

Pilots call wall run, have jump kits allowing for multiple jumps at once (double jumping), and jump kits prevent fall damage.

Pilots can attack titans by dropping onto their backs (like in the cover shot)

Pilots have a smart pistol "noob-friendly" capable of locking onto and engaging multiple targets at once with one trigger pull. Good for engaging AI but humans get a "target lock warning"

Pilots have an assault rifle, anti-titan rocket launcher, and a data knife that can reprogram computer controlled characters to fight on their side

Repsawn's data shows that there is roughly equal preference to Titan and Pilot player time.

Ah so microsoft proving they know what they are talking about with this cloud business. Developer liked what they heard from MS. Also i cant wait for them to show this at E3 and then everyone gets mad because we already "knew" about it
Lol I know. I was just pointing it out.

MS must have some deep pockets because they are throwing money at everything.

It's quite pathetic really.

its almost as if they want their console to have good games

Oh man lol I feel kinda bad for GI. Suddenly the occasional odd tweet I saw this morning makes a LOT more sense.

Game sounds kinda cool, I like the mech stuff. Titan stuff. Whatevs.

If we are supposedly moving around this fast in the world, I guess that means no ADS.

I feel like that would clash with the game design.

Exclusives do suck.

As long as they're coming out for PC though I don't really care. And as a PC player I'm almost surprised. Basically every game announced so far that's not first party is coming to PC. I can only think of Destiny that's not and it's heavily rumored it will.

Makes sense though. It's a much more important platform then it was eight years ago.

Just tuned in. Damn, sounds interesting. Looking forward to what they have in store.

Don't like that it's not on PS4, though. Thank heavens for PC.

Sounds good.

If it truly is something fantastic, I'll check it out on PC.

But I am dubious about this "CLOUD COMPUTING!!11"

Well I can kind of understand as a lot of people dont want xb1. On the other hand whining about no games and the whining about exclusives is just sad.

I don't really want one at this point (reserve final judgement when all the facts are out for both systems). Doesn't mean I should be ridiculing or stifling debate on the topic.

Just this week I have seen a few threads where a poster is accused of being a viral marketer when they posted something pro XB1, or just shot down as a "fanboy"

It's pretty brutal

Disappointing won't be able to play it, but oh well. Obviously Microsoft paid a significant amount of money, we'll see if that sort of practice is enough to convince people to buy a console they would have otherwise avoided.

Certainly isn't for me. If it has a solid single player campaign, maybe I'll check it out on 360.

source engine? lol wow were they developing on a budget or something? They've had like 2+ years and they say it would take too long to make their own engine?

Exactly! I mean can you imagine if they would've used all that bank to invest in opening some new first party studios over the past few years? ...Oh wait.

Unknowns who have released jack shit so far, what dedication!

There should be more tampons in gaming
Yea I'm not worried this will appear on PS4 before long, the reasoning that's given for why it is not is completely stupid and screams that Microsoft had to have at least bought or garnered a time exclusivity deal

If it was a PS4 exclusive this would be 40 pages by now of praise of how Sony can do no wrong this gen.

It's almost fascinating at this point. Been a member for years and have never seen the gaming section like this. It's kinda sad

I'm picking up a PS4 first but I'm sure I'll have an XB1 by the time this launches

No what's fascinating is the persecution complex Xbox fans have developed.

I have to witness this 'powa of the cloud' in order to know exactly what it does, and how much it's beneficial to the overall gaming experience.

y'all should be ashamed
It's on pc, and it uses the source engine. Anyone with a pc can run this at 60fps.

I'm not too bothered by the exclusiveness.

It's heavily modified so it may as well be a new engine I'd wager. Remember that Bioshock 1 was made on the same engine a UT2004.

"We liked Microsoft's anwswer: Big burlap sacks with dollar signs on them!"

That's fair game, though. All I care about is the game being good and getting good deals instead of shitty Origin deals :/

NeoGAF's smiling token!
- Started to look into next gen and the answer they got from Microsoft intrigued them
Not sure, but did anyone expand on this? What answer did MS give them?

edit: Nvm, I'm guessing it's the cloud related features.

There is going to be ADS. How else will the auto aim work? The modern FPS only works because of how accessible it is to the masses. That accessibility works because people get kills and feel validated in their success. The aim assist provides that for most.

So where's the ps3 version?

If you only have the budget to outsource one console version, then take the one you like to get made? Just because the PS3 has a high install base does not mean that you suddenly have more budget. Or are you implying MS moneyhats for the 360 version?

Agreed, its really funny to watch.

If that's the way you view things, isnt console exclusivity for any game next gen gonna be a joke?

If it isn't 1st party, yes. All we've heard about this gen was "PS3 is too hard to develop for," "costs of games are rising," "3rd party exclusivity is a thing of the past"

When you have two console manufacturers make porting across the PC, XB1 and PS4 simpler, why cut out a potential platform that could have a huge install base? It's clearly Microsoft putting money on the table to keep the game off of PS4. Do you honestly believe EA , who is publishing the game, would leave potential sales off the table if Microsoft were not fronting $100+ million for console exclusivity? They ported Mass Effect 3 to the Wii U for God's sake...
