DC looks much better than Project Cars

This is project cars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKmnOlXM3F0 ..nothing on DC even going by that offscreen cam footage

That video only hyped me up for Project CARS. Can't wait to see this game after it gets out of pre-alpha. The weather effects alone make this game look way better than DriveClub to me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OJB8vOWBLM watch that at 1080p Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm

Don't get me wrong, DriveClub looks great, but after seeing Project CARS in person and taking into account that it's still in the pre-alpha, it has just blown my mind.

again we all have our preferences and opinions. Going by DC offscreen footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zc0JumLloA it looks better to me .
However, there is no arguement that DC looks way better than both GT6 and Forza5

This game looks the worst out of all next gen racers shown so far. I put my preorder on this game, about to change that tomorrow.

again a juno comment . DC looks way better than GT6 and Forza5 .

Nice videos, something else Sony should have shown at the e3 conference instead of that boring ubisoft stuff they decided to show instead

Onto the video now, can anyone tell if it is 60fps or 30fps just by watching those videos? And also wanted to mention i like how the sector times stand out very well, not too important how sector times look i guess? But that stood out to me, as well as the beautiful look of the inside of the cars too, very nice

I played Driveclub today in between meetings, and while it looked good, Forza looked smoother, cleaner, and a greater leap forward compared to racers this gen. These compressed online videos may tell a different story, but I trust my own eyes. To Drive club's credit, the demo had a 35 percent complete, prealpha label.

The PS4 controller felt great though. The extra length on the handles make the grip more solid and substantial. Also, the PS Eye was refreshingly unobtrusive, very thin and incognito.
Any thoughts on framerate comparisons?

They said in the Engadget video that you can play the game for 1 year if you get it from PS+ or did I mishear?

yes it part of ps+ (that you will need to have to play online anyway)
when you get the game from ps+ you play it aslong you are subscribed

the ps+ version of driveclub will not be the same as the disc i think.maybe less tracks and cars? we need to know

Looks good. I know I've been asking this since it was first revealed, but is there any new info on steering wheel support?

Niiiice... So Patrick from Giantbomb did an interview with a Sony guy for 25minutes and asked on twitter for question to ask him. I asked him to ask about 3rd party ps3 controllers like Steering Wheels or Fightstick and the guy said:
If they are usb I'm gonna say that they are likely to work. I can't confirm it right now, I'll have to check but I mean, it's the logical choice isn't?

I have another question about that (and sorry if was answered before):

In the Sony press conference, they said that all PS-Plus members will get a copy of Drive Club for free, but they called it "Drive Club Plus Edition", or something like that. Anyone knows if there is any difference between the retail versión and this Plus Edition?

We're still constantly iterating on the HUD/OSD.
The social in-world 'Face Off' challenges are very much a key part of the game and really add to the fun.

Nice write up on the E3 demo here by the way:

Other games do have integration of social features but in Driveclub it really does seem in your face, i.e. NFS autolog's implementation.

Please reduce the size of the HUD! I hope we have the option of disabling HUD elements. Yes I know social is a big part of DC, but the social elements in the middle look very distracting.

I've only see offscreen gameplay of Forza5 as well and this looks better.

Hopefully Takuya checks them out both on the floor to say how the gameplay feels.

The PS Plus edition of DriveClub, revealed yesterday, will – according to Evolution – be the full version of the game in terms of features and mechanics.

However, it will launch with a cut-back number of tracks and cars.

This’ll mean that players will be immediately able to jump into the game, form clubs and compete online.

I asked whether that would mean more cars and tracks would appear as DLC to bulk up the game to the ‘full’ version but didn’t get an official comment.

Pretty much expected, else Sony would have been sending the retail release out to die given it's social aspect and the requirement for online. Why would you buy the disc if you had to buy Plus for online and then got the game for free anyway?

Players can issue challenges to friends and race either asynchronously or competitively online, with a plethora of granular tweaks including the ability to edit parameters such as the time of day or amount of clouds. “You’re racing at night and it’s cloudy. When it’s dark, that’s going to be way harder than a clear night sky or midday. All those things can make the challenges quite individual,” Perkins told us.

it seems there is night racing

I will say this: Don't worry.

We had to, at one point, branch of for this very specific (and slightly adjusted for a better show floor-experience) demo.

The HUD / OSD in the latest build already moved on quite a bit and is more subtle.
There WILL also be options to adjust what's displayed on screen.

Nice but unforgiving, 35% complete and aiming for launch?
Guys take your time do not do another motorstorm it will plague you all along the whole generation.
And support wheels!

Agree. To me doesnt sound like a game ready for launch at all. Unless the build they took at e3 is months old and currently they have much more advanced builds... Otherwise, sounds like another game that will be pushed back (like Infamous).

the "problem" is that ps+ will give a game for free on day1
most games on ps+ are games released earlier (sleeping dogs etc etc)

after a while launch games will come to ps+ and then the library will grow

Trevor, PLEASE get your team to strive for 60fps in this game. It will make ALL the difference to gameplay and really showcase what the PS4 is (supposed to be) capable of.
But only if we don't have to sacrifice night racing for it ;)

I think that's normally what happens. Better to show a 35% complete build that's stable than a 50% one that could crash at any moment.

According to this article, Driveclub is a lot of fun, but looks worse @30FPS than Forza 3 @60FPS:

http://www.usgamer.net/articles/gt6-v-forza-5-v-driveclub

This really shouldn't be the case with the PS4 being quite a bit more powerful than the s(urveillance)bone.

(Edit: I assume you mean Forza 5, not 3. DC was compared to Forza 5 in the article.)

Well Forza does look staggeringly beautiful, but isn't open world and has static TOD and no weather.

Comparisons are hardly like-for-like, but yes - I was expecting Driveclub to be 60fps based on how powerful the PS4 is alleged to be.

Per previous information the game is only 35% complete. I'm sure with it being a launch title the Devs are still learning how to optimize their games to use the full potential of the system. Only being 35% is sort of scary and seems the game may get rushed/elements left out, but lets hope not. Not to mention its more of an arcade style game so I think they're going to try pushing the graphics limits to get more sales even if its at 30fps.

I think the pedigree of the dev teams plays a huge role in this. I mean don't get me wrong, evolution has a great track record. But Turn 10 has been doing the exact same thing since Day 1, pretty sure they know their way around squeezing juice out of a rock.

But yeah we can also take into consideration the differences of feature set. It would be more akin to compare this to something like Project Gotham Racing ... if there was a new one.

Well, if the reports on power differences between XONE and PS4 are true, there is no excuse if it looks worse. I'm not sure if Forza 5 runs at 1080p, probably not (1080p compatible is not the same), but as an exclusive, DriveClub should easily manage to top Forza 5. I don't know what they can do to the engine in just a few weeks from now on...

I do agree that it should look better, but bare in mind DriveClub is doing a lot more. Dynamic lighting, shadows, weather, time of day, clouds (procedurally generated) etc. To me, it looks good, but it doesn't blow me away in these demo's. Just a bit too colourful for me. Needs a touch more realism.

Forza 5 is NATIVE 1080p, locked 60fps. Very impressive indeed.

Looks very twitchy. Can't stand racers like that.

I hope its just the dumb people playing it.

I think it's the people. While driving and using controller, I don't just twirk the stick but controll and hold it in positions I want to steer.

I'm clearly disappointed by the way it looks in the end. (I was already guessing that in the recent footage but i was alone :p).

I think that could be a case of the dev trying to push the most tech they can without thinking "what will look good to people". Insane car model with interior that you notice just for the sake of it, lots of modern dynamic things, but in the end lots of things that looks bad.

I was also saying i wouldn't be surprised if some XBOne games look better cause even if it's less powerfull, art and tech choices can make a big difference. And Sony should be more invasive with their first party, at launch at least, cause the focus should be "impress at first sight" for a console launch. Or it will be the PS3 all over again.

Also, can you talk about wheel suport? Will DC support USB wheels?

If it supported current wheels they would have come out and said it already. Sony have nixed Logi/Thrust/Fana wheel support for PS4, so the only options will be Thrustmaster's new budget and premium wheels for the PS4 platform.

Where's the 'share' button demo gameplay video that was mentioned in the conference?
