Excuse the botched job, especially with the controller, but I wouldn't mind seeing this on the shelves.

I honestly think the PS4's box looks a bit cheap(felt the same about the Vita), with the seeming aesthetic inspiration coming from the PS2 I wish they'd copied the class of its box. The boxes seem almost demeaning to the obvious care put into the hardware.
The Xbox One box is just beautiful though, don't think anyone can argue with that. Sleek, sexy, etc. Love the controller wrap-around.

You're paying for the system, plus(lol) paying for PS Plus in order to play online for most titles. Still silly though, he could have at least put effort into the font.

X1 box is really nice. Classy.

I'm assuming it's the HDD access point.
Could this be a PCI-Express type 4 expansion slot? Seems too small to be for anything else. External GFX-card upgrade slot perhaps?

It was amazing the day it launched. I remember staring at that box in awe when I picked it up launch day.
Ehm, the console is 53mm high. That would make it the smallest Harddrive ever...

That looks absolutely terrible and old to me.
You buy a game (that's the first payment). Pay attention, this is where it gets tricky: you pay 'again' (which means an additional payment for the same game you have) to play online. Get it?
I would think, for that avatar, you wouldn't have difficulty following things up. I would have expected you to if you used his partner as an avy.

Man, I really like the design of the PS4. But the X1's Console Box, Game Boxes and system look a lot more next-gen than the PS4's.

Check out the link, and study the Ps4 for yourself. That slot on the underside of the console seems to be about the size of a PCI-EXPRESS slot. Memory upgrade is unlikely, and besides. the slot is located curiously close to the powerplug. That can't be a coincidence.
IMO the real question is what is it for. Most likely a box with the same look as the PS4. But what will be inside this said box? GFX-card?, soundcard?

I'm glad Sony did an interesting design this time instead of just a generic bluray/DVD player look that they did for ps2 and ps3. The design takes a bit to get used to but it's growing on me.

Yeah, I kinda just realized that after I posted it.
I have no idea what it could be and now I'm curious as to where the HDD actually is.
If it is for serial number tag, then why is there a notch for fingers normally assosiated with a detachable lid right underneath it?

Maybe, could be a lot of things. But since Gaikai will take care of that problem, I do not think so. I think it's there to make sure Ps4 is future proof. My guess is a PCI-EXPRESS type 4 slot. This could be used for anything. Besides the Ps4 is tiny. No room for extras inside IMO. Having an external add-on box makes perfect sence to me. Remember Sony asked developers what they wanted. One can only guess what the developers answered. This is my guess:
1: 8GB GDDR5 minimum
2: Social features and sharing.
3: Better controller with speaker and chat functionality.
4: Future proof aka upgradable
I don't give a shit about the box, I just care about what's in the box.

Man, it does look a million times better... I would buy that box empty for 400 Bucks ! The human mind is truly stupid if adding a color changes perception so much.
