That is really insane, can't believe how big the allocations are.
I didn't even think of that, hah.
That's why we have to continue warning as many people as we can about this. Use channels that MS can't control. Your social media, your blog, your tumblr, livejournal, etc. These are areas that no matter MS wish, they have no control over. If you are at uni and actively participating at social club, make sure they too are aware of this.

If Microsoft has all the money in the world, why did they only moneyhatted exclusives like Dead Rising 3, Titanfall, Ryse, and DLCs?
I'm starting to think moneyhats doesn't make that much of a difference. Titanfall will probably be on the PS4 in the future anyways.

They can only sell as many systems as they produce. CBoaT has said yields are poor so unless they downclock it basically means they won't have the stock compared to PS4 anyway. The only way for them to increase capacity otherwise is to buy up more wafers from the fab, which might not be possible this late in the day without punitive pricing by going directly to the other fab customers who have a bit of spare capacity. It's getting pretty late in the day for that though, the foundry will need to lock those orders in pretty soon now for November delivery.

I think the PS2 wins (1.3mio on the first WE only with USA, UK and Japan) if you take all Regions first day/week sales together and doing as if the Console launched on the same day world wide.
Today we have a much more people pre ordering stuff.

Moneyhatting is going to be more expensive going for them if the PS4 sells like crazy, paying for the PS4 versions that won't be released gets a lot more expensive when there are a lot more PS4's around than previously estimated.

I think the WSJ said today that Sony was raising their revenue expectations because of the strong reaction the system was getting at E3 but that they (WSJ) had doubts that Sony would be able to meet the demand.

Agreed. I hope this practice of moneyhatting stops for all 3 console makers. If it's minimized I'll be alright with that.

If the Xbone isn't profitable, I don't think MS will even make a new one. I got the feeling the investors where never big on the idea anyway.

True, but I think it has a lot more to do with Xbone's yield issues. Both consoles will likely sell out at launch, it's just that there will be a lot more PS4s available to sell apparently.
After the immediate launch it's not looking too good for the Xbone I'm afraid.

I think the best way to continually warn people will be by continually asking to borrow their games. If they say their game is for Xbox One and therefore cannot be loaned, tell them they suck, and that you'll borrow the game from someone with a PS4 instead. It could be quite effective at making them feel lonely.

CBoat pretty much "confirmed" titanfall is only 1yr timed exclusive. And the developers have openly said they want to be on everything...so yeah...I'll be playing titanfall on PS4 eventually. And since there will be plenty of other games to play, I'll happily wait.

If PS4 starts outselling XBone 5-1 WW and 2-1 in NA/UK, you can bet your ass MS will have a new machine in 2017 or so. I'm sure Sony would be more prepared for that kind of situation though.

Your right in that the investors never wanted them to get into the game to begin with. But then that XB Live money begain to flow.

They're interested in competing with Sony at as many levels as possible and given that they make TVs and other electronics they have the vertical integration possibilities that Sony also have.
Low stock. A subsidised edition would have been announced at E3. They would have wanted the sticker price boost of $299.
Well there was that bit of news about MS being 6 months behind with their plan for X1.

Samsung is Buy N' Large for South Korea. They are over 10% of their GDP. If it has electronics in it, Samsung likely wants to compete.

I don't know about consoles, but they are my favourite online retailer for games. I must have bought something like 15 games from them and a bunch of PSN/XBL codes. I'm from continental Europe and I got some launch games something like 2 days after launch, since they ship earlier for the customers out of UK because of shipping delays. In contrast, my PlayAsia shipments took 15-20 days to arrive. And I never paid customs duty on Shopto stuff, while I did on 1 of the 2 games I bought from PlayAsia. I know a bunch of people who bought a lot of stuff from Shopto and everybody loves them. The only issue they had was one time when their security certificate got breached and people's CC info got stolen. I know one person who had a lot of money stolen in that incident, although Shopto claimed that was their payment processing company's fault.
Ditto, I usually just root for a console to win but this time I seriously want the X1 to fail hard.
