Gamestop PS4 preorder reserve slots more than double of XB1?

anyone know if video titles purchased on PS3 will be re downloadable or transferable? I was thinking I might go ahead and trade in my PS3 after Last of Us, since I have another blu ray player, and only game on PC other than TLOU.

Problem is I have a decent amount of purchases from the video store (what was I thinking?)

I pre ordered my PS4 yesterday and the clerk told me that that particular Gamestop was allowed to only take 10 XBone pre orders, but they could take 20 PS4 pre orders.

I was the 12th person to per order a PS4.

Seems they really are having manufacturing issues, and wont be able to supply enough Xbones. The positive is that they can claim sold out but they will get outsold by the PS4 by a significant margin

This matters because the third party games will in theory sell more upon release, Ghosts, Watch_Dogs, BF3 etc sending a clear signal to third parties. In addition to PS4, both Animal Crossing and Last of Us are outselling the Xbone on Amazon.uk. That is really surprising

I do not personally care which one sells most, but third parties do in regards to software.

Video should be fine, if I purchase on the PS3 they are on my account ready to download on my Sony tablet, the ps4 will just be another device in their eyes.

If anyone is interested I could pull some numbers from the major UK game retailer (it would only be for one specific region, sadly) - regarding pre-order numbers for both machines (and games.)

Not sure if it's allowed or interesting though.

Thanks that makes sense as I believe you are allowed up to 3 devices...I will just deactivate after TlOU and trade it in toward the PS4. I'd keep it around but I got a free blu ray player with my tv. Wish I knew how long it'll be till the release the superior PS4 version. If it's not that long I could just wait and not have to endure the frame rate.

Amazon uk is dominated by ps4. it's probably similar for stores.

You both know which retailer and I'm talking about - and I think you'd be surprised.

I'll pull raw data tomorrow - but the XBOne pre-orders were tracking higher (I suspect because they showed the machine) following their reveal.

This week has been... disappointing for XBOne pre-orders though, across the entire region.

Called mine and they had a higher allocation as well. Wasn't going to have an all day conversation so I will have to ask some questions whenever I get the chance to swing by.

Say the PS4 has triple the sales of the One a year from now, which third parties, if any, would jump ship? I can't see big names like EA or Activisiom doing that.

They just opened up 20 more pre-order slots for PS4 at my local Gamestop. I kind of want to ride out this gen into next year before buying one, but I'm tempted.

They won't stop releasing Xbone games, but it may become much harder for Microsoft to get exclusives like Titanfall.

"4th Quarter of 2013"

I'm guessing a late October Launch in Japan, an early November launch in NA, and a Late November/Early December Launch for Europe.

In light of the apparently strong demand, I could see them pushing back the launch in Japan to 2014 to get a few more units to the US and Europe.

Both systems are so similar that it would be crazy not to do a simple Xbone port, even if the install base is very skewed.

I'd love to see the data, thanks for doing this!

Japan is becoming more irrelevant day by day when it comes to consoles anyways. Good to see Sony giving what Europe deserves for once.

Do we know how these allocation numbers compare to the PS3 launch? The only thing I can think of is Sony is about to flood the market with PS4 systems this holiday season. I find that hard to believe but otherwise why promise Gamestop a bunch?

flippers see ps4 as more profitable...

If there are a lot of PS4s on the market this will hurt the ability for scalpers to flip them. Xbone is more likely the console to be scalped since allocation seems more scarce.

When I pre-ordered my ps4 at best buy. They had flyers pretty everywhere in the store, but not a single xbone flyer in sight.

I had no idea the limits were so low. I figured they could have been in the 100s for each system. Glad I pre-ordered my PS4 a few days ago.

Meesed up about XB1 though. Oh well, they did it to themselves.

Called my GameStop yesterday and they didn't have any PS4 preorders available, then today I called on a whim and they did.

Really thinking about taking in my XBox and all games and putting down a decent preorder amount before the bottom falls out on 360's price, but I won't be able to game until ~November then...

Gamestop has a promo going on that you get an extra 30% credit when you trade in towards items at E3, including consoles. Considering turning in my Xbox 360 as well, could end up another 60-100 bucks off my PS4. Ends on 6/16 though.

If what in this thread is true the Xbone will be the system the flippers will want. It sounds like Sony is going to hit production targets and have a lot of supply. If there is a constant restock at retail of the PS4 flippers will be SOL. The Xbone sounds like it will have very limited stock like the 360 and a lot of potential from profit.

Okay so looking at E3 as a whole when related to the XBone I am coming to the conclusion that the system is going to be half baked when it launches.

-All the "Launch" games outside of Forza(Lots of gameplay features stripped) and KI have some serious issues that need to be resolved.

-Continue to narrow the focus of the launch to less territories.

-News of units allotments much lower than PS4.

Yeah UK has been ignored far too long.

Just looking at everything so far it really gives me the impression that Playstation is focused and ready to deploy. Xbone seems lost, its almost like they are making things up as they go.

I have no "brand" loyalty either way, I played most of my games last gen on Xbox, before that Playstation. I just want great games without having to deal with bullshit.

so far on the no bullshit side of things PS is winning.

I suggest people reserve judgement....Microsoft has DEEP pockets and they will not let this fail or be outdone.

They are going to market the crap out of it. Expect to see XB1 ads on television, magazines, busses, billboards, cereal boxes, soda cans, chips, etc. The only caveat is they won't dare mention that it requires online or that it has used game restrictions

They can't win by propaganda alone.

On the software side I think both are a mess for this launch to be honest. It is basically like most other launches. You are buying it for maybe 1 game and the promise of software down the road. That is why no one will ever touch the NA dreamcast launch. I have a PS4 reserved but no games as of yet don't really see anything that catches my eye. Hopefully we will see more of the future Sony first/Second party games soon. I want to see what the guys at ND have in store for the PS4.

That certainly helped the Surface or Windows 8 or the Lumia phones they helped co-market for WP.

The market for new shiny systems in the first year is, and always has been, the hardcore gamer. And no amount of ads are going to undo what most gamers are gonna know come the fall.

That said I still expect the Xbone to sell very well in its opening months, for sure.

Can anyone tell me what PS4 games will be available at launch? I'm debating if I should wait or not.

on the phone and in person when i went to preorder my Ps4 the first thing out his mouth was in fact the ability to pre order the Ps4, nothing out of his mouth even alluded to the Xbone lol And he said "Man the ps4s are selling out fast thats why i preordered mine as well"

Does anyone think we'll see PS4's going for insane amounts of money on eBay like we did with the early days of the PS3?

I don't think so for 2 reasons. With the way pre-orders are handled now the really hard core fans got a chance to get 1. With amazon and other online retailers there was plenty of chance to get one. Also all the chain stores gave people chance to get one. It is looking like Sony is meeting production targets as we are seeing some gamestops open up more pre-order spots. The other reason is there are just so many more flippers now days. They will compete against each other bringing the prices down.

All the marketing in the world doesn't matter if you have 10 systems to sell.

We have no idea how many PS4 Sony can produce. High demand does not lead instantly to high ebay prices. Only if the demand is way higher than the produktion.

But i am 99% sure the PS4 will be the biggest Console launch ever, i can smell over 2mio sales alone in the first week if Sony can produce that much.

XBox One packaging will probably be twice as big as PS4, with the console size difference and Kinect. Stores won't ever be able to display as many Xbox units and I wonder if that could affect storage and orders as well.

You bring up a good point, I hope the PS4 comes in a very efficient box. It's a really small thing for most people, but I appreciate that my iPhone came in a box that wasn't that much bigger than the device. I appreciate when the design of the product even translates to the box itself.
