Xbox Live “Ultimate Game Sale” Preview

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
I've heard a lot of bad shit on Ass Creed 3, but is there anyone in this thread that enjoyed any part of it immensely? What makes Ass Creed 3 good?

If it's the typical Ubisoft effort, aka bloated side missions and such, $15 doesn't sound that enticing of a price.

It's like the ultimate ubisoft bloat, as the game is SUPER uneven. In a lot of ways I thought AC3 was great, but some other parts were just weird as hell.

The Frontier area I think is amazing, up there with Venice as my favorite spot to go around in. I liked the actual Connor plotline, but the intro is extremely slow and the final mission is fucking horrendous. Naval missions are damn good, the first random side mission AC added that was actually good to me.

ugh daily deals, am really busy this week so was hoping I wouldn't have to check every day to see what goes on sale :(

It's as easy as checking GAF, then hopping onto the Xbox website to buy at your leisure. You gotta have some hustle if you want to partake in cheap ass gaming.

I'm tempted to get Borderlands 2, but I'm going to hold off for Forza and Gears, which should both come in at $20.00/1600 Allards. Less if Microsoft is feeling especially generous.

The ship battles were cool. There really isn't a lot of it in the game.

IMO it's worth $15. Not as good as II or Brotherhood, but leagues ahead of Revelations and the original.

No regrets.

Imma buy it. I've only beaten Assassins Creed 1 and played through half of Brotherhood. Assassins Creed fatigue hasn't effected me yet.

Did you like Risen 1/2, Arcania, Venetica, Two Worlds II, The Witcher? I'd say it's in that league of jank with some good ideas and some nice exploration. There's a lot of content to - $5 is a steal. Also, AP is a wonderful game.

FWIW I hated Max Payne 3.

liked risen, two worlds II, loved the witcher... that's good enough for me! bought.

there are enough great third person shooters on the market that I don't really want to sully the memory of Max Payne 2's perfect ending. and the whole double download thing just sounds cumbersome as hell.

wish they had added some stuff to that list, would have loved to get a sale on Gears 3 or Crackdown

Just sub to the thread and check it. I'm betting you're on GAF at least once a day like all of us :p

Wait, Far Cry 3 is only 840 Allards? WTFBBQOETEWTAFDFDSF

Now I know how Steam gamers feel.

Depends on the territory. In the US it's 1600 Microsoft points or $19.99.

Edit: Which still seems like an especially fair price. I'll probably end up snagging it for that.

Is it possible to add points to an account, migrate it to a region where games are cheapest, buy said games, and then migrate back later with the licenses in tact?

So is the network getting hammered for anyone else? Also I'm assuming that the the only things that are going to be added are premium $10 + items right?

Wow day one and I feel like I just came off like a bandit. I got Borderlands 2, WWE 13, Crysis and Dragon Age for roughly 2200 space bux. I love buying games for as little as 360 points. Shit the most I spent was 1050 space bux on WWE 13, and that's only because I've been jonesing for a wrasslin game for awhile.

You can only change Xbox Live regions once every three months.

Yeah, I figured, hence the "later" part. I have a huge backlog right now anyway, but wouldn't mind picking up Borderlands 2 for 400 MSP along with some other majorly cheap games if I can migrate the account back to my regular country and keep the licenses. :)

This whole thing seems like a bizzare future version of "Let's Make a Deal" Do I buy Far Cry Vengence for $5? Or do I wait to see what Tomb Raiders price is gonna be?

far cry's not a daily deal, may as well wait if you're just choosing between those two.

Is this stuff temporary or long term?

I have been wanting far cry 3, but this comes at a time where money is really sparse for me.

I think you'll dig it. It's a bit different than those in certain approaches but will feel jank-similar all the same. Plus, there's a surprising shift towards the halfway point of the first game (there's two games technically), that mixes the basic gameplay up in a cool way.

Really hoping The Orange Box is $5 or $10. Traded in my copy to GS awhile ago and I'm regretting it now. Still haven't finished HL2.

My hard drive us going to run out of space with all of these deals. :(

Is Borderlands any fun in single player? None of my friends play in Xbox's so I'd have to play solo.

Eh, it's probably better than some games but I thought it was more fun with others.

Hmmm, I wonder if anyone here's up for playing 2 on Steam here. I got the season pass in that amazing Amazon sale so I won't have any content blocks.

Why can't I buy Prey? It's region free (the disc version) and I am on a Japanese machine, in Japan using a U.S. account. I have bought numerous XBLA games and even one or two GoD games without any problems prior to this.

Gold subscribers can also get Borderlands LC for 50% off. Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage and Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt are $5 each. The Ultimate Upgrade Pack is $2.50.

DO NOT DO THAT.

Games on Demand are country locked.
I know, I got fucked during last sale. I'm in France and had migrated my account location to the UK a few weeks earlier. When I tried buying those 5€ Max Payne 3 and stuff, I got an error message "not available in your region". And thus for every GoD.

Just bought Borderlands 2 and Farcry 3 for 1020 MS points each (£8.99).

Good deals, but I still can't help feeling fucked over when I see other people here saying they only had to spend 800 points or something.

There's no reason why MS point pricing should vary across differet regions. No fucking reason at all.

That can't be the case, unless they changed it following on from the AC3 fiasco.

Tempting to test it though, Borderlands 2 is £8.99 in the UK (saw it new in GAME yesterday for £25) and £2.90 on the HU marketplace.
Tempted to bust out the HU gamertag again.

I bought Borderlands2 and AC3 for 10€ each. Good deal I suppose, even if I'll never have the time to finish them (I'm not even sure I'll ever finish Borderlands1 and AC Revelations...).

Halo Wars is better, but RA3 is pretty great too.

I loved Halo Wars but (as an avid Age of Empires fan) I found it a little too limited as far as unit variety and tech.

From what I hear, Red Alert 3 has the streamlined control scheme of Halo Wars but is a deeper RTS experience, correct?
