What is the higher "entertainment value" of the X1? That you can plug in a cable receiver? Because most of the multimedia apps like Netflix and 3D Blu-rays can be used on PS4, too. But I am sure you have told your family about this...

Companies can file patents that they never use. Given how expensive R&D is, it would be foolish not to. They can sit on it for years and ensure their competitors don't get to do similar ideas.

There's a difference from thinking about it and actually doing it. Why do all Xbox One apologists literally use this same argument. REMEMBER CITADEL had literally the same argument.

If I think about glassing you at the pub, but don't do so, I can't really be charged with anything besides threatening you. But if I glass you at the pub, I can be charged with assault because I've literally stuck pieces of glass in your face.

All leaks have pointed to Sony thinking about DRM but very willing to maintain the status quo because there was literally no solid leaks regarding Sony's DRM strategy outside of some silly patents. Meanwhile, Microsoft's DRM strategy was leaked with excruciating detail was most of it coming true in some capacity. Either Sony is running a much tighter ship than Microsoft or they were extremely willing to maintain the status quo because its working perfectly fine for them.
