There was a guy with a snowman avatar... Ozymandias I think. I liked his posts. Also a guy named Hitler Stole My Potato. They both got banned but I think they were both were really funny.
Also everyone implies Crushed has an alt now after his poop cartoon meltdown but I'm not smart enough to recognize who it is.

Alright, my morbid curiosity has the better of me...
I feel like I've seen him not too long ago. When was his last post? Always struck me as being a bit pretentious/elitist, but a good dude. Probably someone I'd get along with IRL despite their posts.

I'd have to find and read the thread again, but iirc, a GAFter found some posts about Amirox saying he spent thousands of dollars on prescription drugs or whatever. This was about a while after he made the thread asking for money to help his mum. I contributed to that (but not much, only £15)

I've been wondering about that one for quite a while now.
He had this asinine plan to walk across the country with his dog and maybe a buddy. His poorly though out plan would have seen him go through some cold areas in the winter and desert areas in the summer.
He eventually admitted that he felt empty and that his life lacked meaning.
What ever happened to him?

How did he not get permabanned from this? Well I guess he didn't planned to use that money for drugs at first, so I suppose it's not a scam. Still an awful thing to do.

Comes back with an alt every few months and gets banned. Always fun speculation on some users.
I think he claims it was always his money that he used, and that his mom got all the raised money, but I didn't follow it very closely.

Even if that's true, which I find dubious, it's still pretty terrible.
Never mind not getting permabanned. I can't believe he was ever made a mod. Friend in a high place, I suppose.

In Gaming side you can get permabanned by doing anything fanboish, I don't really understand why the harsher rules since they are dealing with lesser problems than what happens in off topic. Where in order to get permabanned you need to do really horrible things. I find it interesting, I'm guessing is the heated passion that makes people lose their Goddamn minds.

As a longtime lurker/occasional poster and someone who was reading GAF when it was apart of GA, this thread has been a great read and reminded me of some really crazy threads. It's really amazing to see how many people have come and gone in the decade+ I've been here.

Its been a while but I think he said it was because he refused to change his opinions on abortion. It happened right before the news about Bin Laden getting capped broke out so everyone forgot about it. Pity given I enjoyed his Neon Genesis Eva topics and he seemed an allright poster about everything else.

I was a lurker at the time, but as I recall, the basic situation was that Amir0x and his father were being bled dry paying for his mother's medical treatments. Amir0x came to GAF to ask for help and got in in spades, which freed him up to start saving money for himself, again. Most of it was going toward bills and saving for a wedding, but he set aside something like $50/week (not THAT much, as his job's a pretty sweet gig, from what I understand) and saved up enough to go nuts on Oxycontin during election week - as he hadn't done anything, drug-wise, for a few years, due to his mother. EviLore, who gave more than anybody, wasn't exactly MAD about it, but he did say that it was in pretty poor taste, and not very smart, to advertise to GAFfers that their money had aided in the purchase of drugs, even if it wasn't their money, specifically, that was spent on the drugs.
How it didn't cross his mind that it was, effectively, charitable money that he had spent on said drugs is probably best explained by simple reference to the fact that you're dealing with a mind that looks at a big cache of Oxycontin as a major reward after a long ordeal.

I do agree, the mods have things in check now more than ever. I think the things he did back then do not warrant a permanent ban but as the law of the wild goes, you must let nature take its course.

Takeoutbandit quit last year. He was honestly kind of an asshole but I remember he was having health issues and hating his job, so I hope he's gotten things to work out at least a little better.
Offtopic, but I remember commiting the dumbest and unintended account suicide on a different forum by changing my mail account. Now, it turns out there's no chance to re-register, and that the email account got compromised.

1) The dude who has/had a Chef (South Park) avatar, he broke his iPhone, bought insurance coverage AFTER he broke it, then sent it in to get fixed. The fix kept getting delayed and he got BS excuse emails, turned out the dude who owned the company he sent it to was a scammer himself. Thread was locked before we found out if he ever actually got the iPhone back.
2) Crunched's girlfriend or fiancee or something? She had some sort of serious (brain?) injury and was in the hospital. I remember him talking about watching Archer with her, for some reason, and a bunch of Gaffers making and signing a card.

He bought heroin too. I think that's what set people off. And his reason was due to the presidential election. I honestly didn't think it was that big of a deal but I hadn't donated to his mother's cause (I was unemployed) and his reasoning seemed good enough to me. But, if you're going to ask people to help with something financially, you are going to suffer the inevitable consequences (being liable for your own financial choices afterwards).
