Yoshinori Ono Tweets New Deep Down Images

You can see in the gameplay vids that the effect is present. There's nothing quite as dramatic as the teaser but it still functions as a liquid. There's a tech demo floating around demonstrating this implementation as well. It's a big feature of the engine.

Show me the opposite. Where did you see traditional 2d fire effects in this game?

They still need a lot of work on that. Fire in last trailer was at 10fps or something.

Still they didn't even mentioned release Q so they have a lot of time to improve things.

Well, in this shot, that explosion looks like the same old effect, combined 2d, animated planes. (or however it's done, I know shit about 3d technology. :)

Edit: Also in this video, around the 1:28-29 mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZBTBQYrqek

And don't get me wrong, the game looks decent, it's just that it looks nothing like the reveal video.

I think someone should tweet capcom about this games rendering resolution.

Looking at this latest batch of screens... it is really looking almost like native 720p....

It looks gorgeous, even if it's clearly downloaded from the first teaser, but the online only structure simply pushes me away from it, unfortunately.

I really hope this is not the case. Footage seems to me to show a blur over much of the textures. Up close textures seem pretty high res to me, but there is a layer of vasaline over them in the direct feed trailer. Maybe they have a crappy AA solution at the moment? Either way 1080p with high res textures, and I think this will be one of the better looking early next gen titles. Otherwise, the visuals may look muddy... IQ in those images and the trailers look worse than a lot of PS3 games to me, so hopefully their capture equipment is to blame.

Those screens are in low resolution but you don't see usual 720p aliasing which means it is either 720p sot downscaled from much higher resolution or some amazing AA without subpixel shimering problems.

Usually it is the first.

I like the aesthetic, but I was expecting something of a bit higher fidelity considering the quality of the debut trailer. If the game does look indeed as good as that trailer, or better, these images don't convey it.

Still looks like a very interesting title though, and one that I'll probably be purchasing in the future.

Actually I see a number of cases of aliasing which implies a non-1080p resolution. Either that or I have a hard time knowing why those edges would look like that in a downscaled image!

I can only hope that I am wrong and those are artifacts from a crappy PPAA.

I don't understand why people complain like this is the final build of the game.

What build did they show back in Feb? They said the build back in Feb was runnable on a PC with a 570. They have also said that the graphics quality back then is "easy to achieve". But then they show screenshot after screenshot of a game that looks nothing like the Feb reveal. What happened? And you don't understand that people are a bit concerned?

If you go into a restaurant and look at the menu and order a steak meal that looked absolutely gorgeous on the picture; then while the chef is cooking the meal he allows you to peak into the restaurant; and you can see that he has a few test plates that has cheap pork sausage on them instead of steak; wouldn't you be concerned?

Dont worry, they said that making 60fps from 30fps is so easy :)

So easy that they had to drop the res? Hope not. Maybe they should do that with COD Ghosts and get 120 fps....

Seanspeed: Lighting looks nothing like anything on current gen. In fact, looks better than pretty much anything else on next gen. Everything else in those screens though...I hope it is the capture...Could be a waste of a good lighting engine if everything else is rough. Gameplay looked good though...

Those off screen shots look pretty good. Game is coming along nicely.

Edit - it would be nice to find out what resolution/frame rate they are targeting too.

Has there been a release date for this yet? I was thinking februari with the japanese ps4 release, but could be mistaken.

There are some screens that look good as a whole and only look bad when you start looking at the finer details individually. These are some of them.

They really started this generation with a bang by releasing Resident Evil 5 but then under-delivered with Resident Evil 6 and now Deep Down =/

For comparison, here is Resident Evil 5 on Xbox 360

It was native 720p with 2xMSAA

Resident Evil 5 still is one of the best looking games out. Image quality is outstanding. Genuinely surprised at how clean that game looked on my PS3.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Can we stop pretending like Deep Down isn't a good looking next-gen title? Those graphics aren't possible on current gen hardware.

This looks so awesome. It's not quite The Division levels of hype but it's certainly second place.

I've only seen these same types of warrior character classes. I wonder if there are other character classes available...

I am not saying it looks bad. The lighting is mighty impressive. Really adds a lot to the atmosphere. The problem is that the IQ on a whole isn't that good. I am hopeful that they can fix it before the official release.

The new shots in the OP look much better - textures look sharper, IQ looks better.

However, the shots posted by Ono look pretty bad by next-gen standards. It doesn't even look better than GOW3. The only saving grace is the lighting. Besides that, everything just looks substandard.

They are probably not indeed. That's true, as true as to say that the first screens from that thread don't show it. People always love to assume things when there is nothing showing it. For exemple, in the dragon shot in the OP, there is too much bloom, not enough details to actualyl see if this is a high poly tessellated model or a normal map mess with low res textures. It could be a PS3 game for all i know. It's an IQ and filter problems.

And by the way this kind of logic works with the reveal trailer to. Everyone was assuming this was cgi but again, the reveal dragon could be perfectly reasonable in term of geometry, as the backgrounds.

People decide what something is based on their imagination alone.

Ugg this game looks worse every new time it is shown. This was the game that convinced me to get a PS4, honestly it seems the first reveal of this game was a Killzone like CG target render. I'm never falling for that crap again.

I just hope that they'll nail down the gameplay... I want it to feel perfect, identical to Demon's Souls.

Considering camera angle and that most poor textures are located on the floor part of the geometry and far parts of the wall, I'd say this is an issue related to missing anisotropic filtering rather than poor texture quality.

Oh boy :D! Excited!

I just know that this'll be one of those games that I'll either really love, or really hate. It's all gonna be about the gameplay...

Temper your expectations. The original trailer will likely never be matched this generation. But as long as I see a generational leap from Demon Souls/Dark Souls/Dragon's Dogma (which were all pretty good looking titles in their own right), I'll be happy.

Why do game companies keep doing this bait and switch crap? It in no way helps the game they are pushing and only pisses off gamers. You'd think everyone learned from the Killzone incident.

This game looks freakin incredible to me !!! and it's still in development... The dragons look sick !!!

Sadly, it's an online only game... i wish for a Zelda like adventure that looked like this.

Sold.

I hope that the game doesn't look like the soft and blurry mess that are the screens without visible tv, though.

WTF is armor select?!?

Do you select a character style in this game??? It looks like the one behind is the next character? And there appear to be four selectable nodes on the top, not sure if it is characters or next stage (say skills) though.

Still, seeing that screen makes me wonder.
