New DriveClub video shows day/night transition

You're telling me you think they could not have done any better with the hands?

Don't think I am saying Forza looks better either, I'm not, I just don't like the cockpit view of Drive Club.

I'm sorry but I take what you say with a grain of salt. Other members have already called you out on your bias.

Erm, what does my opinion have to do with it. The Direct Feed HQ videos are there for you to download and view yourself. I posted captures straight from them. The aliaisng is there for you to see.

I think the hand shaders actually look good. You can see skin pores and everything. But hand shaders are but a tiny piece of what makes a good cockpit. The poly count, materials, stitching, leather, rubber, dials, detailing on indicator shifters, buttons, paddle shifters, the reflections on the glass and so forth, all make the cockpit look really well realised and realistic.

Only main negative really is the aliasing which has mostly been sorted out in the newer builds. The screens I posted of the cockpit were from the old build.

You really think these hand shaders look bad?

How anyone can argue Forza looks better after seeing this direct feed is hilarious.
I know man, the nerve of people. We've seen DriveClub with one car on screen and barely hitting 30 fps with screen tearing and tons of jaggies but dat lighting and track detail. :p

well...the forza video is 30fps with tons of jaggies, so I really don't think your points would stand out.

Care to explain? I'm lost by this. Sorry.

They look OK in the first screenshot, but the second one they still look a little odd to me.

Look at the images and see the dials on the far left, they just do not look nice at all.

Some people tend to get overly defensive, let's just put it that way. Both games look very good but both have small issues judging solely by the videos and snapshots we've seen.

I see, I thought you were a dev on DC or something, lol.

Agreed, they both look great for the most part, but there are little things with both of them that are annoying.

Anyone saying that either one of these games are "OMG" are just delusional. Both have a lot of flaws that you wouldn't expect for there gpus.

That asks the question .. Is the low CPU going to be a limiting factor at the start of this gen?

Smh..

Both games look really good. Wish this was bumped for new footage and not another comparison.

Guys, guys, forget Sim vs Arcade, 60fps vs 30fps, one game vs the other, the great hands vs gloves debate is among us.

Side note, I've never considered it until today. But give us the option to choose, or to win custom gloves etc. I want my initials on my gloves lol.

Yeah, I just watched both videos on my 27' full hd screen and it's not even a contest. Forza looks extremely flat and last gen compared to DC.

To be fair, the framerate difference is still there.

Looks fine to me. The conditions in these pics are not strong midday sun without a cloud in sight. It's a weaker lighting scenario.

Go and sit in your own car on an overcast day, everything appears duller but you can still make out every detail.

That's why I was asking if it was HDR crushing the details out.

Damn, the trees in those games... difference is night and day. DC's ones look a generation better. Lighting too. But Forza is not ugly at all.

Depends how you define ugly. A generation apart is pretty embarrassing for a more expensive direct competitor. And i agree, the trees, the environment scale and complexity, the light...

My question is, can you create or choose your driver. No offense, if they are going to show an actual driver I would like for it to look like me.

Why are the arms and cockpit so dark, they are being illuminated by the same lighting as the enviroment aren't they?

Is this some HDR effect?

Just dependant on the direction of the sun and entry of light in to the cockpit. In that particular shot there is no direct light bouncing off from the cockpit so you get that darker loom. Doesn't matter really how bright it is outside but whether light is finding an entry point through the glass in to the interior, usually via direct sunlight.

From screenshots, there's not a great deal of difference between the two. In motion, Driveclub looks significantly better, we've yet to see all the locations, the longer stages, and of course, the day/night transitions will add a whole new dimension.

Mmm, I dunno. The image quality looks pretty rough to me.

Have you seen this?

Wow, they do look quite alike. I thought the F5 looked good, but I guess I didn't realise how good F4 also looks!

What strikes me in comparison to Driveclub is the road surface. In the Forza videos so far things like the white lines and tar joins look flat, whereas in Driveclub they look bumpy, just like they should be.

I totally agree with you, in motion DC looks really good.
