If this does mean an account system, I'm rewarding Nintendo with the following digital purchases:

- The Wonderful 101
- Wind Waker HD
- Mario & Luigi on 3DS

That's for starters. I'll also likely moving to all-digital, since I have a nice 1TB hard drive connected to the Wii U.

Make it happen, Nintendo. :D

Whoa they changed the layout of the keyboard !

but how do I upload the images from my game to the forum?

I guess now the options are to either post via miiverse website, or open the web browser while playing a game -> go to minus or imgur or wherever -> choose upload as you usually would.

New native res screenshots is fantastic, but they should have made the screenshot function more intuitive. Most people probably doesn't know it exists. I'd like screenshots to be saved to internal memory, and then you can do what you want with them from there, like with Vita. (Though that would require the Wii U to have a photos app to view pictures like every other system on earth.)

i'd imagine the lack of a photo viewer and storing photos is probably to do with Nintendo trying to keep the system a lot more locked down than wii was, they're probably so paranoid of it getting hacked they're leaving nothing to chance

The new TOS gives hope but don't expect it yet.

The Network Services may permit you to transfer some or all of your data, information, account balances, and Digital Content between Nintendo Devices that you own, or between your Network Accounts. Please refer to the User Manual for more information on this feature.

so far this is a super disappointing update. No folders, no party chat, no account system. Mostly just adding superficial embellishment to miiverse, eshop, etc that isn't even important.

What I LIKED was the Wii on gamepad. Until i found out you cant use the gamepad to control the game. Lame. Not useful for me now.

-PDF on browser is cool i guess. I might use it in the future.

-Ability to upload full res screen shot is neat.

May have already been posted, but this should be added to OP asap ;)

Version 4.0.0 U, available via an Internet connection, includes the following improvements:

New Features:

A feature to output video and sound to the Wii U GamePad when using Wii Mode¹
Users can choose to output to the TV and GamePad, or just the TV
A feature to automatically receive recommended software and demo titles from Nintendo using SpotPass
Support for USB keyboards
An option to disable use of a Nintendo Network ID on non-Nintendo hardware, such as PCs and smartphones
Support for Dolby® Pro Logic® II Surround Sound when playing Wii software

Changes to Wii U Menu:

Added a friend list icon to the Wii U Menu for easier access to the Friend List

Changes to System Settings:

An option to automatically receive recommended software is now available under "Internet"
A setting to select which cable outputs sound is available through "TV"
Users can choose to output sound through an HDMI cable, non-HDMI cable, or both cables at the same time. Click here for instructions
A setting to adjust the hourly interval in which standby functions are performed is available under "Power Settings" when Standby Functions are enabled

Changes to Wii U Chat:

Added the option to view a friend's profile on Miiverse when sending or receiving a chat request
Users can now chat using a headset connected to the Wii U GamePad

Changes to Internet Browser:

Pressing the R or L Buttons on the Wii U GamePad will skip video playback forward/back a small amount of time
Holding the R Button will speed up video playback
Ability to save username and passwords for websites that require login²
Ability to launch the Internet Browser during gameplay and upload screenshots
Added support for viewing PDF files³
Added features intended for website developers that allow the user to enable developer tools and set user agent

Improvements to system stability and usability:

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

¹ Wii software displayed on the Wii U GamePad cannot be controlled by the GamePad. This feature only allows Wii software to be displayed on the GamePad. A Wii Remote Plus or Wii Remote is required to play Wii software titles.

² Users can delete saved usernames and passwords from the Internet Browser settings.

³ Sometimes data may not be displayed correctly depending on the size and format of the PDF file. PDF files cannot be saved.

Seems only games that allowed pictures in MiiVerse work. And Capcom doesn't want people posting pictures of MH.

I guess that would make sense. Are there any native 1080p games that allow you to post pictures then?

system wide image share needed to be everywhere the moment AC was out and doing it. this needs to be on 3DS as well. i always find myself pressing the buttons to take a pic in games outside of AC, it sucks.

I honestly hope party chat doesnt come to WiiU for the simple fact that it single handedly killed open chat on 360. No one talks outside of party chat if you join a random game, and completely killed what little teamwork was there.

But thats just me.

Speed is definitely improved. Nicely done Nintendo.

For those wondering, there is still no additional audio options for the TV remote. Nintendo still thinks everyone plays sounds through their TV only.

I wouldn't use this regularly but it's a neat novelty.
This highlights the secret best feature of the update: auto 4:3ing VC games, as this applies to TV too. For anyone that wasn't more concerned about filling out a screen than proper aspect ratio this is FANTASTIC, doubly so for stupid TVs that assume a 4:3 image couldn't possibly be sent over an HD signal without black bars.

What sites are you guys uploading images to? Imgur just says it's "pending" forever, and I can't even get the upload button to work on Minus.
