Someone need to gif those night in the forest bits. Gave me a weird feeling of what Dark Souls could look like with Crytek at the helm.

I might need to switch consoles, this game looks more interesting to me than anything on the ps4. If only I had more faith in Microsoft releasing a stable console that isnt going to blow up in my face.

Love the look of the colloseum and the tile sets they showed, combat also looks pretty fun to me.

I'm amazed that a game that started off as a Kinect only title on 360 has turned into some kinda graphical powerhouse for the Xbox One. I guess when you've got one of the graphical kings in the industry and 3.5 years to develop a title, you sure can make a pretty game.

Best looking launch game by far, kills Killzone easily imo,and I'm talking as someone who is going to buy PS4+Killzone at launch.

For a launch game wtf is up with the hate? The game looks polished as fuck and truly nextgen for what it is.

Gameplay doesn't seem bad.

I really don't get some of the "graphics aren't impressive as a pc gamer" comments. To be fair I don't have 4 titans, only a 670 but as someone who plays every multiplatform game on the PC and many of the big exclusives Ryse is still incredibly impressive. PC games in general just don't look like that, with the exception of BF4, Crysis 3, Metro, and maybe Arma III when you consider the scale but it looks quite poor at times. Of course the IQ isn't as good given the resolution and obvious lack of downsampling/aa options but it's impressive on a graphical level by any standard

For the glory of Rome indeed. This game looks like good old fashioned fun, with gorgeous visuals to boot. Haters gonna hate, I guess.

So far, I have come across 3 positive Ryse previews (IGN, Gamespot, and Venture beat). I have seen one very negative preview (game informer). Why am I not surprised that the one negative preview has its own thread that is almost twice as long as this one, while the three positive previews are basically ignored?

Game looks very fun for once. Good job crytek? Maybe? I have a feeling this game will get a stellar successor or sequel. Might skip this one though.

Looks REALLY good.

But I loled at the part where they said the animations were really fluid and the screen showed he kicking a guy out of a ladder and the animation was really bad there.

For all the console naysayers over the past few months you simply cant knock ryse and kz as good reasons to buy these boxes. Looks fantastic and will be simply the first disc into my xb1 and thus being in europe my first next gen title.

Looks fantastic visually now. Animations still look a bit weak and combat looks pretty standard, but the visuals are great. Only this, KZ, and BF4 look impressive at launch to me.

Well the game is REALLY REALLY good looking. THat is for certain.

Edit: that armour Design in the gif from Nibel is really glorious. Totaly creepy looking wit the face mask.

It could be because almost all previews are positive, making them meaningless as diagnostic tools, while negative previews are very rare, making them inherently more interesting and potentially more informative.

You must have missed the part where Game Informer guy said he could beat enemies with one hand on the controller, doing a single combo over and over.

I can't deal. Its not that the game is getting mixed reactions, I fully expected that. Its that some of Gaf is in full GameFAQs fuckery mode over it.

And he said nothing about difficulty settings too. All past Crytek games were very hard on higher difficulties, i doubt its not the same case with Ryse.

No fail state is ridiculous. The game will basically play itself.

That it is (for executions).

I have played it... it definitely does not play itself interms of blocking... that is for certain. It is basically the only challenging part of the game: making sure you hit A always at the right time.

I am curious if you can point me to any terrible game that got a lot of positive previews this close to launch. Most previews of bad games end with "hopefully the developer can fix [whatever the preview disliked) before the game is released".

Hold on, friend! I'd love to share with you some swell news about the Windows 8 Metro UI! Wait, where are you going?

You must have missed the part in the IGN preview where he said that the characters in the versions they were playing had upgrades that normally you don't get until later in the game and the game was set to easy difficulty.

Game looks fantastic, finding it really hard to decide if I want to cancel my X1 pre-order because of this game....
